The Girl From Paradise Hill by Susan Lund
The Girl From Paradise Hill by Susan Lund Book Summary
Tess returns home to bury her father but what she finds buried in his attic makes her question everything she thought she knew about the mild-mannered trucker…
PARADISE HILL, WASHINGTON
The seemingly idyllic mountain town harbors a dark secret: four young girls have disappeared over a forty-year period. With no crime scenes, no leads and no suspects, the cases have gone cold.
Until today.
The remains of one missing girl are discovered in a burned-out cabin at a remote campsite, reopening the case and suggesting the worst may be true – a ruthless child killer is operating in Washington State.
TESS MCCLINTOCK
Crime reporter and amateur cyber-sleuth Tess is obsessed with the cold cases of missing girls in Washington State. As she works to settle her father's estate, she's shaken to her core when she uncovers evidence pointing to his involvement.
FBI SPECIAL AGENT MICHAEL CARTER
On leave after solving a particularly heartbreaking case of child abduction and murder for the FBI's Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force, Michael is back in Paradise Hill to recover and visit with family. Despite doctor's orders to stay clear of police work, Michael's drawn back in when Tess asks for his help understanding the secrets found in her father's attic.
A RUTHLESS CHILD KILLER
Having escaped justice for decades, he's bored and deliberately stirs the pot, revealing the body of one of the dead girls. Despite the fact he's hiding in plain sight, no one suspects that he's really a wolf and not the sheep he pretends to be. He sees Tess and Michael's involvement in the case as a challenge and views Tess as a temptation he can't resist.
AN EIGHTEEN-YEAR OLD COLD CASE
For Tess and Michael, the cases are personal: Tess's best friend in public school, Lisa Tate, was one of the missing girls from Paradise Hill. Michael was babysitting the night little Lisa vanished. The guilt they harbor over their role in her disappearance drives them both.
Desperate for answers, Tess and Michael join forces to track a killer and uncover the secrets Tess finds in her father's attic. Will the answers bring Tess peace or shatter her?
THE GIRL FROM PARADISE HILL is book one in the McClintock-Carter Crime Thriller Trilogy.
Book Two: The Girl Who Cried Too Much and Book Three: The Only Girl Left Alive follow journalist Tess McClintock and FBI Special Agent Michael Carter as they try to solve old cold cases and stop a serial killer who has escaped justice for decades.

Excellent book. This is an excellent book that keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is a must read if you like police FBI thrillers. You will not be disappointed.
Written from the perspective of a child rapist and killer. I did NOT expect this book to be half written from the perspective of a (fictional) child rapist and killer. Interesting story I guess but I hope other readers are warned!
Draws you in. I loved this book. I couldn’t put it down. Bought the series...without hesitation.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. Very good reading. Kept my attention from the first page.
mix of mystery, murder and a hint of romance.. I loved this book, can’t wait to read the second one.
The girl from paradise hill. Great story! Lund is a gifted writer.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. Super read. I'm ready for the next one.
Did not finish the book. Not that good that I’d buy the ending.
2.5-3. I don’t mind that I read the book , it took me about a day and a half to read it. I was very hooked at the beginning. I wasn’t too keen on the ending.
The Girl from Paradise Hill. Don't bother reading. No conclusion. It seemed like there was just a lot of filler. Author repeated lines or memories just to fill up a book.
The Girl from Paradice Hill. That very best mystery I have every read The first review I have ever written I read 8-10 books a month Thank you so much I Thank u so much I couldn't put it down Couldn't
GREAT BOOK. I read this in just a few days. Amazing book! Can’t wait to get started on book #2!
Good not Great. Good story line and characters. Writing is a bit clunky in places, poor sentence structure and repetitive references but there’s no rush to the finish which is refreshing. Definitely, interested in reading the two remaining titles in the trilogy
No resolution!. I liked the book until the end.. it just ends and I’m expected to pay for the second book to get any resolution (I’m assuming the killer would be caught or identified). Made a decent murder mystery book really not worth it.
Good. This was a good storyline. Too bad it continues into another book. I wanted that sick bastard caught.
Where is the next. Can’t find the Girl Who Cried Too Much? Looked on apple and Android, help 😥
Violence against children is too graphic. Well written, but awake nights after the horrid descriptions of kids being tormented. I got half way through chapter two and cut it loose.
Great. Great read!!
Drawn out. Drawn out only to be drawn out into 2 more books
The girl from paradise hill. Interesting! I liked the characters! Made me want to read more!
Keeps you curious. Had a bit of a slow start personally, but once you get into a good rhythm, it’s easy to get caught up in the story. As you switch point of views in the story, you get into the mindset of the killer, trying to figure out who it could be. The tiny clues along the way start to make sense, but you still won’t know who it really is till the very end.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. Loved the book! Sorry they didn’t catch the killer of all the girls. Can’t wait to read more of your books. A very good read. Thanks!
Ok story. There are so many grammatical errors that it’s hard to enjoy the book.
Good read. Entertaining
The girl from Paradise Hill. Good story but hugely repetitious withbackground info.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. A really good thriller. Too many characters to keep straight. I so dislike it when authors don’t finish the story unless you buy their next books.
TO BE CONTINUED....... Too bad the book didn’t actually come to a conclusion, the reader has to buy additional books to get the full story. Overall a good read, different perspectives as seen from the different characters, including the unknown killer’s, with some side twists going on. Also there seems to be a growing connection between the main characters but isn’t written in as the typical immediate lusty sexual encounters and tension, so much more refreshing that way. Just didn’t like the unfinished ending.
Awesome. I had a very difficult time putting this book down. Great thriller. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
Would be 5 stars if not for no ending. Loved the first book but why string out the story thru 3 books when we already know the killer after the first one? Not buying the other two. Disappointed
The Girl from Paradise Hill. Good read. Wasn't expecting what Tess found in her Dad's house among all those hoarded items. Liked that the Police and the FBI actually worked together but did they really close the cases? Where will Tess and Michael end up? Have to get the next book to find out!
Great title. Book was captivating till the end. Expanding the plot as it opened the story kept me interested and continued to hold attention
Drawn out but decent. This book was 770 pages on my device. And it probably only needed to be about 450-500. It was mostly well written and the editing was great for a free book. I want to know what happens with Tess and Michael and see how they catch the killer. But I don’t want to spend $5 for the third book. One thing I did really like, is that you can tell there’s chemistry between Tess and Michael but after being around each other for a week, they weren’t madly in love. I do really appreciate the reality in that. Overall, a pretty good read for the free price I spent. Just not worth it to go through 2 more long books and spend the money.
Awesome!. I enjoyed this read very much. Some twist and turns. Can’t wait to start the next book.
The Girl from Paradise Hill. Really enjoyed the book and the story line. The book moved fast and characters where well rounded. Thanks k
The Girl From Paradise Hill. Kept me intrigued! I read a lot of crime novels and I really enjoyed this one. I will definitely read the other two books to see what happens.
Thrilling. Great characters, suspenseful, interesting twists & turns! Looking forward to next book🧐
Couple Misspellings I Assume. This book was well thought out and definitely left you with the feeling of wanting to devour the second and third one. The reason I only gave four stars is because some words didn’t completely fit. It seemed as though autocorrect put in a different word than what was originally meant. It was an amazing book considering the price... free! I’m so excited to read the second and third book!
Thriller!. Thank You!! You grabbed me by the throat by page 2!! It’s been awhile since a book intrigued me so quickly!! Absolutely loved it! Buying the next one right now!! Get this series, you won’t be disappointed!!
Amazing!!. I had been looking for a book to grab my attention and this book was it. It hooks you from the start and doesn’t stop until the end. I’m so excited to read the next book. Definitely one of the best book and authors I’ve read. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hard to put down!. Liked the detail and the plot and the shocking surprises!
Good serial killer story. Set near Seattle, WA, this murder mystery involved three young men who conspired in hiding an accidental aspiration of a thoroughly drunk 13 year old girl. Apparently that was the starter incident to form a psychopathic serial killer in the small town.
Absolutely Amazing!. AMAZING! I couldn’t put it down! Excited to read the next one!
Amazing book. On the edge of my seat the whole time!! So many twist and turns! Loved it!

What the hell. So, so many typos and grammatical errors. I think the author read “Sharp Objects” and thought “hey, I could do that!” This story should have been finished in this novel, the last chapter feels extremely rushed like the author decided to set up a sequel last minute. Decent plot, but feels like there was very little research of police and FBI work out into it.
Title is fine. Enjoyable to read. Fast moving and difficult to put down.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. The book kept my interest from start to finish. Very well written with information forthcoming about the guilty person but just couldn't put the book down until the last page. I was disappointed the end came before the perpetrator was found
The girl from Paradise Hill. Good read but it stopped dead without a conclusion. A cheap way to make u buy the next two books.
Interesting Read. I enjoyed it. I am not a reader but this book was really intriguing. I like these kind of stories, SVU type of story. I think she did a great job and looking forward to reading the next part.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. Great read. Kept coming back for more any time I has free moments during the day. Good flow, lots of twists and turns. Looking forward to book #2 in the trilogy.
Paradise Hill. Was interesting but also a little confusing at times. Totally unimpressed that there was no ending as it is a series not a stand alone book.
Ohh my!. I was hooked on this book!! Absolutely loved it!
The Girl from Paradise Hill. Good read
Boring and repetitive.. This book was very frustrating. Not only is there no resolution to the story- you have to read 3 books it’s seems to get there. What is written is said and repeated several times over- god just get to the point! Not that interesting really and as I said very repetitive. Don’t waste your time on this book.
Good read. Great storyline but could do with a better editor. Looking forward to books 2 and 3
Good story but terrible editing. I guess it’s neither here nor there but the editing was terrible.
Started off Ok.... but did not deliver.. A lot of spelling errors, grammatically disjointed and quite repetitive. Unfortunately I was in too far to not finish. I definitely wasted my time.
Better than average. I quite enjoyed this book. While I agree with other reviewers that it could have done with some more editing, there were no holes in the plot, and the action moved quickly from chapter to chapter. The characters were believable, and it was clear the author has undertaken plenty of research into the mind of serial killers and the methods they use to choose their victims. If her other books are as good as this, it won’t be long before a commercial publisher takes notice of her and begins to publish print editions of her novels.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. I enjoyed the story and will be downloading and reading Part 2 which I’m sure I will enjoy but, I’m not sure if this message should be for iBooks, the publisher or the author because there are some typing errors in this book and even an error with a name eg ‘said Kirsten’ instead of ‘said Tess’. I’m sorry if I’ve offended anyone but I just wanted to share my findings.
Couldn’t put it down 😉. Brilliant loved this book 👍🏼 can’t wait to read more from you
The girl from paradise hill. Great story. Had to keep reading to the end
A good story badly written. The idea behind this story was clever and engaging, a novel twist on the genre. But there was so much bad writing it was distracting. So much so that I’m not going to other with part two. There were lots of instances of repetition of facts that had been mentioned a few pages earlier, as though the write forgot she already wrote it or was worried the reader would not remember. There was even multiple cases of repetition in the same sentence, that just screamed lazy editing. It didn’t read as though anyone had read through this book and it could have been improved tenfold by a good editor cutting out the extraneous material. Pretty annoying in all.
Interesting but repetitive. I quite enjoyed the story and the way it progressed however the author has written the book in such a repetitive manner, it actually makes the book potentially off-putting. It’s as though she had spent decades writing the book without reading earlier chapters and so forgot that she had written the same information just chapters early - even worse sometimes it happened pages apart which was just frustrating. If a reader can’t keep up with the story without the constant repetition then chances are, they would not be attempting to read novels however an interesting plot for sure.
The girl from paradise hill. Couldn’t put it down , read the whole book in one go !
Good Read. Really enjoyable story that I didn't want to put down. Highly recommend.
Ok but not great. There were several repetitions that made me think that the text was not properly edited. All the people with the same family name made the story a bit confusing, specially since it did not seem to be necessary for the whole town to be related. Or at least not in this book, maybe there is still something to come in one of the sequels. This will not be for me to find out though, I did not get hooked so I will no read the next part.
Good potential but disappointed. This book could of been so much better. Great story line but instead of dragging it out over three books it could of been condensed in to one or even two books. Ending was a bit disappointing as it was very rushed.
The Girl From Paradise Hill. I enjoyed this book as it has two good main characters and an interesting, if gruesome, plot. However, I found the occasional missed words or incorrect name very frustrating as they stopped the flow of the story ...
Awful ending. This book was enjoyable but there is no ending at all. The story just stops at a random point with none of the main questions answered. A waste of time
Loved this. Well worth a read, really enjoyed this
Hmmmm?. Very slow starter, the characters are great but the story was so slow to build...and that ending?!?! I forced myself to read it through and you don’t even get the who-dunnit?!
Great read. Couldn't put this down had to keep reading till the end!!
Gripping. This is the type of book you don’t want to put down.
Enjoyable overall. An engaging read but far too many spelling mistakes throughout, and a very disappointing end. Felt a bit like a waste of time..

The Golddiggers was a female singing and dancing troupe created for The Dean Martin Show. They performed on TV, live tours and internationally with the USO. The group was formed in 1968, dissolved in 1992, and reorganized in 2007, and has numbered between four to thirteen members over various time periods. The group debuted on The Dean Martin Show, and was later featured in a summer replacement television series over three seasons. In addition to backing Dean Martin on his show and in his nightclub act, the group performed on their own on other television programs, in live venues, and in three of Bob Hope's Christmas tours. Several members of the original (1968 to 1973) troupe continue to perform as "The Golddiggers", while other former group members perform in other acts, in groups or as solo artist. History The original idea to form a group of singer-dancers that would be called The Golddiggers grew out of a need to find a vehicle that would hold the attention of audiences during....
