It all started with the wrong Help Wanted ad. Of course it did.

I’m a professional fluffer. It’s NOT what you think. I stage homes for a living. Real estate agents love me, and my work stands on its own merits.

Sigh. Get your mind out of the gutter. Go ahead. Laugh. I’ll wait.

See? That’s the problem. My career has used the term “fluffer” for decades. I didn’t even know there was a more… lascivious definition of the term.

Until it was too late.

The ad for a “professional fluffer” on Craigslist seemed like divine intervention. My last unemployment check was in the bank. I was desperate. Rent was due. The ad said cash paid at the end of the day. The perfect job!

Staging homes means showing your best angle. The same principle applies in making a certain kind of movie. Turns out a “fluffer” doesn’t arrange decorative pillows on a couch.

They arrange other soft, round-ish objects.

The job isn’t hard. Er, I mean, it is — it’s about being hard. Or, well… helping other people to be hard.

Oh, man…

And that’s the other problem. A man. No, not one of the stars on the movie set. Will Lotham – my high school crush. The owner of the house where we’re filming. Illegally. In a vacation rental.

By the time the cops show up, what I thought was just a great house staging gig turned into a nightmare involving pictures of me with an undressed star, Will rescuing me from an arrest, and a humiliating lesson in my own naivete.

My job turned out to be so much harder than I expected. But you know what’s easier than I ever imagined?

Having all my dreams come true.

"When I need an insightful, amusing, beautifully written book, I pick up a Julia Kent novel. So, it was this mindset that I read Fluffy, a book about an accidental fluffer. Yes, that kind of fluffer. I usually laugh often while reading Julia's work, but this time, I LOL'd and ROTFLMAO'd with every dang page. Fluffy is the light and sweet side of Julia Kent, a perfect fluffernutter of romantic comedy: Very sweet, a little salty, and definitely delicious." - USA Today bestselling author Blair Babylon

"Fluffy is a laugh riot!I made the mistake of reading the book in public, and now there are places I'm not allowed to frequent anymore." -- Amazon bestselling author Jami Albright

"FLUFFY by Julia Kent is a classic Romantic Comedy with so much depth and heart that when I wasn't laughing so hard I couldn't breathe, I was sighing and falling head over heels in love with Will & Mallory." - White Hot Reads blog

"As I expected, another winner from Julia Kent. Fluffy was a complete laugh fest and a story so engaging, you can't help but love it." - CLiK Book Blog

"I absolutely love Julia's unique wit and ability to turn a disastrous situation into something so comical it will have the reader laughing long and loud, whilst those around them are giving questioning side glances and looks of pure confusion that say "is she alright?".  I know this because those were the reactions of my husband and children while I was reading this book." - Don't Judge a Book blog

I snort-laughed so hard.... The taco eating obsession with perfect guacamole to sour cream ratio, the accidental synching of computer porn audio with the coffee shop sound system, the texts from the heroine’s parents - this book is the perfect escape from reality! Just be warned...you may never look at marshmallow Fluff the same way ever again.

Fluffy. Sweet, just enough sexy, & quite often funny! I definitely recommend this book.

😉✨😍

Fun read!. Julia Kent delights with another fun, quick read.

Booklvr51

Funny. The beginning is hysterically funny. Good storyline, entertaining characters. Drags a little toward the middle but redeems itself by the end.

Getting a job being a Fluffer!. Mallory & Will meet years ago in High School & let their chemistry go! At their 10 year reunion they meet again on a porn set as she’s trying to get a job that she doesn’t know anything about! Will the second time around be sweeter then the first? I would definitely recommend this book as it is funny & has interesting people in it!

ShannyRaye58

Rom-Com at its best. Julia Kent has done it again! Another enticing set of characters, a major mix-up of word meanings, a chance encounter with a high school crush, and slapstick mishaps combine to keep you giggling, laughing out loud, or snort-laughing (yes, I did all three) throughout this fantastic Rom-Com. A must read.

Susanmcqusie

Flawed, but enjoyable read. 3.5 stars The setup is cute, naive Mallory answers an ad in Craigslist for a “fluffer.” She thinks it is for a person who stages houses for sale (it was a term used in that industry), but of course, it is for a job on the set of a porn movie. When the Will, the son of the owner of the house shows up with the police, Mallory is just starting to realize they don’t want her for decorating skills. Of course, Will was her crush from High School, and not only does he convince the police not to arrest her, he hires her at the family real-estate business. The book was pretty funny, but there were times that Mallory’s friends’ witty banter was more snarky than funny. Also, while Will was the perfect book boyfriend, Mallory was a little harder to warm up to. Mallory was not only naive, she seemed to be stuck at the emotional level of a fourteen year old. Overall, a flawed, but enjoyable read.

Hatzombie

Good but....... I wanted to like this but I just couldn’t get past Mallary’s insecurities over her high school crush on Will. Like let it go girl. It was so infuriating and immature. She would get mad when he was doing what she wanted. UGH I can’t explain it right. I couldn’t wait for the book to end. Parts were funny but mostly it was teenager angst from a woman almost 30.

Maria K Green

Hilarious, heartwarming rom-com. Julia Kent spares her characters no embarrassment. She writes complex, quirky characters that could be you, me, your BFF, your family, the girls in the office, etc. That makes them oh-so relatable! Her heroes embody all the qualities that really matter in a man - kindness, acceptance, humor, generosity and most of all — loving a woman for who she is. Like Julia Kent’s other rom-coms, Fluffy works the feels from one extreme to the other — snort-Coke-out-your-nose laughter to snotty tears of happiness when Will and Mal have their emo moments.

Fabulous!!. Back in high school Mallory Monahan had a huge crush on Will Lotham now 10 years later she runs into him when she mistakenly takes a professional fluffer job (which thinks is a home staging job) she found on Craiglist. Boy do things go wrong! I couldn't put this book down and laughed out loud so many times! Get it and read it!!!

Great !!. Funny, witty, entertaining! A story line that’s sincere and keeps the reader’s attention

Fluffy. It took a bit to get into the story of the book but once I did, I didn’t want to put it down! Crazy, sexy, and romantic all at the same time.

Jbebout1295

Laugh-Out-Loud Funny Yet Sweetly Sentimental. It’s no secret that I’ve been a long-time fan of this author. No one does rom-com better than Julia Kent… no one. Fluffy is yet another example of her laugh-out-loud, yet sweetly sentimental writing style. This story will lighten your heart, while simultaneously squeezing it. This is a true second-chance love story, told with an irreverent wit guaranteed to ensure an almost complete inability to put this book down, once you’ve started reading. I know I didn’t… even when my body was begging me to sleep. Take that, body! Who’s the boss now, huh? Aaaanyway, this story is one with which so many women can relate… regardless of age. We all have that one crush from high school—that seemingly unattainable specimen of perfection—that haunted our dreams and tortured our hearts on a daily basis, as we stalked/watched them in those hallowed halls of learning. What wouldn’t we give for a chance at real happiness with that person? We might even brave the hell of a high school reunion (shudders)… even if the object of our affection also played a starring role in the most embarrassing moment—to date, at least (Let’s be honest. This probably won’t be the last time we’re embarrassed on a grand scale)—of our lives, played out on social media for all eternity. What could go wrong? More importantly, what might go right? When it comes to this book, it all goes right. You honestly cannot go wrong this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone with a pulse… or without one. Hey, ghosts need good reading material too, right? *I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are completely my own.

Iheartbook

Summer read NOT. Could not get into this book nor its characters.

Janetakc

Bad. Bad, just bad Superficial story Poorly developed shallow characters Funny idea in theory, execution of the idea is less than optimal

Cchimni

Loved it!. I love Will and Mal! Mal’s situation at the beginning was hilarious. Will and Mal have definite chemistry and their banter throughout the book is awesome. Even the side characters have you rolling in laughter. A book full of witty banter, hilarious situations, chemistry, friends, and love! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

GirlWhoPaints

LOVE JULIA KENT!. Another gem from Julia Kent! Laugh out loud funny, charming characters, and original storyline!! Win! Win! Win!

Let’s get Fluffy!. Julia does it again! Fun and funny! Perfect for summer poolside reading or winter fireside with a hot cocoa!

Kila730

Hilarious!!. An uplifting quick read that will have you laughing out loud!

Angelajosephine

Super funny!. Light and funny! Awesome!!!

Contessajj

Don’t miss this hilarious thought provoking romance.... Mallory’s tale just makes me happy. Yes, she goes through some daunting trials but she hits the jackpot. For a character driven story this one just flies, we are drawn into Mal and Will’s world and it just envelopes you. The comedy is slapstick but believable. I like that we’re also building a cast of characters we can follow in the future. I truly identify with Mal’s high school experience, but we are stronger than we know and we learn more than just book knowledge in that boiler room of hormones, testosterone, and self importance. Love, love, loved this wonderful story.

Crazy not lazy

Fluffy. It was good, but not up to Julia Kent’s usual books. It went on and on and I thought they would never get together!

Hceibsisr

Engaging and funny. Well written humor for expressing a girls thoughts as she moves through emotions and situations.

Doingthisforcoinsssssdzzzzz

A Lovely Concoction. Will and Mal are a welcome addition to the Julia Kent Couples Hall of Fame. Their quick repartee and humor, deep connection and attraction all combine to their ultimate “rightness” as a couple. And to the mix a group of crazy but forever loyal besties and well intentioned but perpetually interrupting parents, and you have quite the read. And reread.

KSON77

Romantic Comedy at its Best!!. Mallory stages houses and is a bit naive. When a Craigslist ad appears to be in her area of expertise, she is almost arrested due to the misunderstanding. Her heart-throb Will from high school happens to be the one to keep her from being arrested. We get glimpses of their interactions ten years ago and learn that Will appreciates Mallory’s intelligence and works to raise her self-esteem. Romantic, humorous and brilliant read which highly entertains!! *** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***

TZ944

Not worth the time. Awfully boring. Mallory is annoying and has random thoughts throughout the book. They added nothing to the story and felt like the author was just trying to fill the page. It took me forever to finish this book because I couldn’t get into it. The characters were underdeveloped and there interactions with each other had no substance.

Laura__F

Hilarious!!. JK always knocks it out of the park with her rom-coms but this one was something else. I mean when a book starts on a porn set by accident, the only place to go is up, right? Sometimes, but also sometimes not so much. This book had me dying laughing so often I had tears in my eyes. Mallory is so smart and witty. She literally has an answer for everything. Will always seemed perfect but really, he's just like everyone else. My favorite part about these two was watching them let go of all their misconceptions they had about each other since high school. I'd love to see some of these scenes from Will's POV and I can't wait for Perky's story!!

Ghost Plane

When you look up from your book & people are staring at you. This book will make you laugh until your face is red, you’re crying, and people start edging away from you. Commuters and waiting room readers, you have been warned!

Yana44!

No...just no. I couldn’t even finish this book. Tried wayyyy too hard to be funny and the character was unrealistically naive. I know books are fictional but this was a bit much. Can I have my 99¢ back?

Julia Kent did it AGAIN!!. I stayed up all night ON MOTHERS DAY to finish and then finish FLUFFY! Julia Kent has easily become one of my favorite authors. I get so excited when I find any free books of hers but after reading the free novella introducing Will and Mallory I HAD to read their full novel. Great character development. And while Mallory was stuck in the past, Will was able to help her see that and grow. Ok I don’t want to give anything away. Great book. Great writing. Great characters.

D_Hustler

Fluffy. Fluffy and Will are great he is super understanding and patient where as some guys are not. It was hilarious and sweet. I could not put the book down.

Sorceress Sarah

Alright. It took me 4 attempts to finish this book. I kept having to put it down, read something else, and come back to it. Now that I have finished it, I’m struggling to remember it only a few weeks later. Not bad, just not great. Entertaining-ish.

GloJeanne

Great Series. I didn’t know what a Fluffer was until I read this book. It, and the rest of the series, is laugh out loud funny. Actually, everything that I’ve read by Julia Kent is laugh worthy.

Ledoss

Fun fun fun. Another laugh out loud, fun filled fest by Julia Kent. I loved this book and laughed through most of it. The romance, slapstick comedy and interactions abound with the author’s signature snark and wit. Have fun with this one, well worth the read.

This book starts out light and silly and one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. This book starts out light and silly and one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. Then it goes deeper as it digs into those angsty teenaged emotions that still plague us even as adults. Mallory is this beautifully neurotic geek girl who just resonates with my own social awkwardness. I felt an instant kinship with her and felt every one of her pains and dreams. I would have given my left arm to know what Will was thinking. But even though Mallory misinterprets a lot of it, his actions convey what he feels pretty well. I loved watching this pair spar with one another. The double entendre game in this book is strong. (I’m almost afraid of what the author’s search history looked like while putting this book together.) And after reading the teaser in the epilogue, I’m rather desperate to get my hands on the next book about this group of friends. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

Fluffy. Hilarious! Sweet and so funny - I had to hold back my laughter so many times! Loved the writing- very real, not a story that ‘talks down’ to the reader: well-written and actually fun to read. I definitely recommend it! Looking forward to more in this series!

Fraüleingypsy

Bust a Gut. Entertaining, educational (lol) and oh so much fun.

BocBocBeau

Fluffy. Found to be most entertaining. Exactly what I look for in a book.

Fluffy. Another fantastic book from Julia Kent! I didn’t think she could be any funnier after the Random and Bachelor series but I was wrong. I laughed out loud till I cried!! Read Little Miss Perfect first to set the stage for this one. The characters are so hilarious and believable that you can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. Couldn’t put them down and I’m really sad that I have to wait till July for the next one but I’ll be worth it for sure.

Notimpressedagain

Funny romance. The initial scene, while not to my taste, is written about in great detail - almost like a British slap stick comedy - about a woman stumbling into a porn video recording. It is written with so much detail that you can really imagine yourself being there and seeing it in person. The focus of the first third of the book is on setting up funny scene after funny scene and staging the transition to her meeting her HEA, who happens to be her secret crush from high school and the man who prevents her from being arrested. Then the romance starts to happen. I can’t say the premise was to my liking, but it picked up once they finally reunite.

Dvomik

Another winner.. Another winner from Julia Kent. I would read the info on a toilet roll if it was written by Julia, she just has an amazing way of writing. Her characters are always relatable and likeable, and manage to end up in hilarious situations. I frequently howl, snort…and hopefully don’t pee myself when reading a Julia Kent book. :D Fluffy was no exception. The look on my daughter’s face when I asked her “What is a creampie?” was so worth it. :D Once again Julia has expanded my knowledge and vocabulary, as well as created a lifelong feel good memory for me - not so much for my daughter. :D :D :D

Hot14eva

Not that funny. I found it difficult to finish this book. Every scene every line felt forced, and a bad attempt at humor. Like how dumb is this girl??? There is no decent human being alive that would end up in situations she did and not know what was happening. Just a bad story, unbelievable storyline. The writing is good just needs a better plot and a relatable protagonist

Aussie book devourer

Fluffy. Love, love, love this book by Julia Kent. It’s funny, it’s romantic, it’s emotional and sweet. Sometimes when you’ve read a lot of novels by the same author, they become predictable. Not in this case. It was fresh and a great start to a new series. Thank you Julia for a wonderful book, and I am so looking forward to reading Perky. PS Where can I get my own Will?

Diris Day

Fluffy. Lots of fun. You just want to keep reading.

Cranky cow

Loved it. Highly entertaining from beginning to end. Loved it!!!

Jaxwright57

Must read for Rom Com Fans. This book has to be one of my favourite reads from Julia Kent and that’s saying something because she is definitely one of my go to authors. I laughed or should I say snorted out loud so many times thought out this very funny romantic comedy and if you love rom-com’s this is a must read. Mallory is coming to the end of her thether she has no job not much money in the bank and it looks like it’s time to move home to her doting parents well that is until she see’s a job on Craig’s list for a fluffer, it seems right up her street after all she has chosen to stage houses for a living but is this job for a stager or something else....... Will was everyone’s high school crush the high school quarterback and the man voted must likely to succeed and Mallory crushed on him from a distance so things get decidedly awkward when it’s Will that comes to her rescue when she finds herself in a very sticky situation at the job she took in all innocence not really understanding what a Fluffer is....... Quirky characters and lots of laugh out loud moments make this a great read but it’s Mallory and her innocence that really made this story great. This is part of a new series and if Fluffy is anything to go by this will surely be the must read series of 2019. Looking forward to what’s next from this very talented author.

Dragonlass

Fabulous and witty. This was a absolutely awesome read!! Fast-paced, full of wit, banter and totally embarrassing moments (for some). A lesson in being oneself, leaving the past in the past and not overthinking too much. This series rocks!

Headless Mary

Mostly good. Yep, funny and cute. The end was a little sloppy after being on point all through. Worth reading b

PaOohLiiLah

A hoot of a book. This is the book to get if you want to laugh at loud, feel a bit of angst and swoon at the romance, all in the same book. I downloaded it for free as the featured book of the week and I am so glad I did! I’ll definitely be looking into the rest of the stories in this series.

K Huskic

A fun new series!. This is a fun romantic comedy, with Mallory finding herself in a very awkward and embarrassing situation, which is witnessed by her old high school crush, and then made public around her town. Thankfully some good things do eventually come from this awful situation. This was a great read, I burst out laughing quite a few times. The characters are fun! I look forward to reading the next in the series!

Lingomama

Seriously laugh out loud. This book is a hoot. I laughed and snorted out loud right through. Loved the characters, loved the misfortunate texts, loved the witty writing. Nothing too complicated about this: sit back, grab a glass of wine and enjoy the ride.

JennaGray

Fluffy. Extremely funny and a fantastic read .

Erin Lewis aka Maimeo's

Brilliant. Wow, what a great book! If I could give this book 10 stars I would. As with previous books I have read by Julia Kent, I was in stitches having laughed so much I cried. That’s right, not only laughing but snort laughing, totally unattractive I assure you. Julia Kent is one of my go to authors in the romantic comedy genre. There is just something about her style of writing that draws me in and I devour her books almost in one go. I absolutely loved the premise for Fluffy and could not volunteer fast enough to read and review. This was everything that I hoped it would be and so much more. I fell hard and fast for Will Lotham, he ticked all my boxes and was totally swoon worthy. I so felt for Mallory (Mal) after she made such an embarrassing mistake, particularly since Will was her high school crush. Although a hilarious read it is also a story of friends becoming lovers and the romance and love was just as epic as the humour. The secondary characters, particularly Mallory’s rather crazy friends and family were an absolute hoot. This is a gem of a book and in my humble opinion Ms.Kent has another winner on her hands.

CeeCeeHouston

5 'QuirkyFun' stars.. Fluffy by Julia Kent is the start of a new series of standalone books, this one feature Mallory Monahan and Will Lotham. Mal as she’s known, was the smart, nerdy girl in high school and Will the hot quarterback she crushed on since their first day of freshman year. Their lockers were next door to each other, but that’s as close as they got, right up until the last day. Mal thought Will was going to kiss her, instead her just trampled on her already bruised heart. Will left town for college and didn’t return for ten years. Too bad it was in time to meet Mal at the worst time in her life- ever! Mal thought Will wasn’t interested in her but she’s in for a surprise. This guy? Gosh, he was so sweet and kind, no bad bones in his body. And what a body he had. Sinfully sexy and hard as a rock. Mal had overcome her awkward shyness in the decade since she’d last laid eyes on Will, but he brought it all back. This was quite a slow burner of a story. The chemistry was strong, the banter was snarky and sexy. The build up beyond enticing. Their friends had just enough influence and book time to make them an interesting addition and want to know more. I am definitely looking forward to Perky and Skip’s story, coming soon… I hope!
