Imagine that your husband has two other wives.

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself.

But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

You thought you were fine with your arrangement, but you can’t help yourself: you track her down, and, under false pretenses, you strike up a friendship. Hannah has no idea who you really are. Then Hannah starts showing up to your coffee dates with telltale bruises, and you realize she’s being abused by her husband. Who, of course, is also your husband. But you’ve never known him to be violent, ever.

Who exactly is your husband, and how far would you be willing to go to find out?

And who is his mysterious third wife?

Don’t Bother. I can’t stand that the author put some of the major complaints that women have about men in the main character’s dialog as it becomes really clear that she’s losing her grip on reality. Because yes, we DO spend a lot of our lives waiting for men while juggling all of the variables that make up modern life. It’s as if we’re all crazy to have those kinds of thoughts. Shame on the author for that. After I realized it was a “crazy woman” book I wanted to immediately delete it, but I finished it out of a sense of obligation to the character. Seriously, don’t bother.

Loupinga

Just. No.. This book is just ‘gaslighting: the novel’. The twists and turns were awfully executed. The plot made zero sense. The characters were unbearable. The use of mental illness as a plot device infuriated me. How this even got published is beyond me. It’s just one big messy fever dream. I’ve read better fanfiction.

Yitney

It was good…. I think the book was good but the ending hurt my feelings. I liked Thursday so the ending didn’t feel good at all🙄. Not a bad book just not my cup of tea, I like happy endings.

Rose Bloom

such a thriller!. i just finished this book moments ago, and I still cannot wrap my mind around it. if you’re looking for a thriller full of suspense, THIS IS IT. i couldn’t put it down! i thought i had the ending figured out, but it definitely left me wanting more. MUST READ

Anderass

Twisted. Kept us guessing until the end.

Abdoobies

Trash. There are so many avenues the author could have taken this book……idk why she chose the crazy woman. Super bored with the “psychological thrillers” these new authors are putting out.

Polancot23

Rollercoaster ride. This book is amazing and I honestly got two stories in one book. I didn’t expect the ending and I’m very satisfied with how it ended.

Paul4456

Disappointing. So easy to read but the ending is bad. Disappointed... author has talent but this felt like a cheat.

Emwoj

I thought I was watching a show. I kept having moments in my busy day thinking “ I just Wana watch my show” I was so into this book I swore I could see it playing out in front of me. She does such a wonderful job with foreshadowing and slowly introducing different twists to where you don’t know what’s happening until the end. I find myself fighting to read ahead a few sentences and then back trap because I’m in such suspense. This is the second book of hers I’ve read in a weeks span. I am not a reader but my God… I can’t stop reading her books.

Uno13

Meh…... This books takes several opportunities to make you believe it’s going to be good, and each time disappoints. Just a weird book.

Kellaaaayshinski.x3

Wow wow.. This book was definitely a page turner it has a lot of twists! Though I caught myself skimming through some of the story that was leading up to the suspenseful parts because I couldn’t take it! Good read!

Electric.amplified

Sadly, too predictable.. Was ok, but like a few of the other reviews have said you can easily tell where it was going.

Kkymie13

Couldn’t put it down.. Full of twists. Loved it!

Jazzie:)<3

Amazing!. Oh my god, I loved this book. There was so many twists and turns it’s amazing. Just the right kind of books you look for in thrillers!

Jessiep813

Great psychological thriller. I had no clue what was going on or what to believe. I really enjoyed the audiobook

Gnadnnyl

OMG. This book will catch you by surprise! The ultimate plot twist that you wouldn’t have thought coming!! A must ride! It will keep you on the edge and leaving you wanting more!

Person with OCD

Good book but. It was definitely worth the read but it did get slow at times but made me want to keep reading because I wanted to find out what happened.

Onioneye

Great book. I started out thinking it might be a slow read! I was really wrong. Read it in one day and bought her next book. Very well written,

Hardcore Book Lover

Awesome book!. This was the first book I read by this author, I loved it! I couldn’t put it down and kept trying to guess the who’s and what’s.

Marshacastellano

ridiculous do not waste your money!. stupid plot and horrible ending waste of money!

Jedewey

Ok not great. I’m disappointed with the way the book ends. After reading this genre for so many years and based on previous reviews I was expecting the end to be like the begging of her story. Writers has potential but needs to work on her endings they can’t end flat

Dejefool

Fascinating. Started realllllly slooooow. It then built up speed and started going faster and faster. It then concluded into a massive wreck that was gradually peeled away and we were again reinforced with concept that women will be women.

Champagne J

Wow. Wow I love this book and I never read. Or leave book reviews. 10/10

Arwen613

Wow!. I loved this book. So many twists. I didn’t know what to believe!

Kandyce and Kya

Ughhh. This book really had me interested for a while and then it took a horrible turn and ended horribly very confusing and unfinished ending

Steviesips

Waste of time. Wish I could give this a zero. Not a good book. Poorly written and juvenile.

Jewel....

Definitely kept my attention!. Couldn’t put this one down.

Ashley A. N.

The ending made me question the rating but.... This story had me captivated from start to finish. The multiple twists will leave you asking for more and surpass each other with ease. I disliked the final twist but can’t really be mad at it. Would recommend.

Sel2889

Yes!!. Read it!

Arnies volunteer

Wow !!!. Unbelievable up until the very last page….. never saw that ending coming !!! A must read for sure …..

Dani2563

Great book. It was really good and easy read. I just wish that Thursday’s character would be explained more at the end

Chai249

Good plot-line, predictable ending. The premise and the first half of the book was interesting, but the ending was so uninspired, predictable, confusing - and almost downright insulting - that I lost all interest. If you’re a regular reader of mystery and thriller novels, you’ll figure out by the middle of the book what the plot twist’ is at the end. ***spoiler alert*** I will say that I feel a bit cheated with the premise of the book only to be given the blasé ending of “she’s crazy and made it up the whole time!” I had hoped for something more creative and interesting instead of the same tired old ending so many authors use. I also hated the way women acted and spoke in this story. It felt like internalized misogyny. I will say that I thought the author had a great writing style and had a very poetic way of describing emotions in characters. I’ll definitely read more of her stuff, but this book felt more of an entry level mystery/thriller than one written for long time fans of the genre.

Hnnyontherocks

Decent Book. Overall- 7/10. Not a constant page turner for me but it was pretty good. Worth a read if you like plot twists.

Lilb33

Ok, not amazing. I read it quickly because it flows nicely and keeps you interested, but the ending wasn’t what I wanted or expected... all the reading working up to the ending and then it just kinda fell flat. Not a horrible plot but not something I’d recommend. Good author though...

Emdanben

Held my attention. Wouldn’t pay full price. Worth the $2.99.

Greens5

The Wives. Very twisted!

Cej5668

Goes on quite a bit. The twists and turns lost their appeal for me as they stretched out.

Laylaa14

EHHH.... I was actually disappointed in this book, I feel as though the author dragged a lot of things out that really didn’t need to be said. It was actually kind of confusing and very little details for the main plot were given in my opinion. The ending of the book was flat...everything was flat. I gave this review two stars because of the hype of the book and actually being excited to finish the book, but then being let down. TRAGIC😒

J0282771

Meh.. I guess I’ve read too many “psychological thrillers” and it seemed a bit too… predictable. I’m also tired of the woman always being painted as the crazy one. It also kind of dragged on a lot of parts giving me a billion irrelevant details as tho trying to reach a word count and in the end I searched the ending on Reddit because i could not sit through 1000 pages worth of every other page being some sort of drag to get to an actual interesting point in the book. I’m sorry, but i was not impressed and wish i could get my money back. All of y’all calling this book great have to give me the # to your dealer because um… noooo.

GanzeTwin

The Wives. Did not like the ending!!!

Hotminutereads

Garbage. Was so excited to read this. The theory of it sounded so interesting. But what it turned into was a giant mess. Did the author just give up and slap something together at the last minute? This is the first review I’ve bothered with because I feel I should warn others to save them the same hours I spent reading. Watch a bad lifetime movie instead…. it would be time better spent bc at least you’ll have hands free to accomplish laundry folding.

BearNotBear

Not sure if it was bad or really good. This book was crazy. Girl gets turned out by some good D that she has to share. Story definitely had a lot of misdirection despite a slow build up and redundancy towards the middle. I would recommend.

Prudence702

Wow!. What a great read. Couldn’t put this one down. So many twists and turns. I didn’t know which way this story would go.

 J. 

whoaaa. crazy! a fun read.

S. Merrell

Fun read. I really enjoyed this book. It was a page turner and unexpected. After reading the other reviews about people not liking the ending I almost didn’t read it. I’m glad I did.

Danieluniss53

The Wives. I thought it was a pretty good read. She had me fooled until the end. Happy Reading!

Adenisa

Worst ending ever. This might have the most confusing, worst ending ever

Bigmommahustle

Twisted!. So crazy and twisted to the very end. Love absolutely everything by this fabulous author!!

Smasherswoulddoit

Shameless pleasure read. Great read, very different plot twists and theme.

Reihino00

had potential. could have been a great book, but so let down by the “twist”

Jeisidhzbwgyei

Wow!. One of the best books I have read in a while. It keeps you guessing. 10/10 will recommend to everyone

Mmartell05

Kept me wanting more... in a good way. I didn’t want to put it down, when I did I was wondering and thinking about it constantly. Well written! Truly enjoyed this book while on vacation!

Sv1221

Great book. Done in 2 days! Awesome book

BB.reads

Twisty. Just when you think you know where the story is going, you don’t. Slow build to lay the foundation, then Kept me guessing. I couldn’t put it down.

Prettywhitegirll

Couldn’t put down. Read in one sitting Fantastic read Loved all the curveballs

Slkusz

A pretty good read. I liked this one! I stayed interested all the way through and while one reviewer said the “twist” was lame, I don’t agree. I thought it was well done and it’s certainly different.

That ending, tho!!. Good book, definitely had its fair share of twists and turns, but I just can’t give more than 3 stars because of the ending. I’m not even sure what that was??? It’s not a cliffhanger, there won’t be another book, etc...

Mercyfour

Suspenseful page turner. I really liked this book. I like the author’s style and by the middle I was racing to finish. The ending was a little abrupt for me but overall it was great and I’d try her other books. Warning: This book may be difficult for women who has miscarried, depending on where you are in your journey or how you’ve coped.

Fiona.Loseli

Mind Puzzling. This book keeps me on edge. I love how simple it is yet nerve racking.

Asheaton

Terrible ending.. The worst ending.

Gilbreads

Ending fell flat. Left me wondering why I purchased.

Relucesco22

I keep hoping it would get better.... But it didn’t. Unfortunately the story seemed contrived and, what’s worse, you could not feel empathy for a single character. That just led to a really detached feeling page after page. I finished it, just to confirm the “surprise” plot twist that was anything but.

Tcc74

Horrible. One of the worst books I’ve read. Horrible ending

Annmric8

Thursday...Monday...Tuesday. All day long Thursday thinks about the other wives. Seth and Thursday have an arrangement where the wives don’t know each about each other. Thursday becomes curious as the months pass and she can’t help but satisfy that craving for answers. Overall: All the clusters of clues layered throughout the story had me pausing. My mind quickly jumped to many conclusions in regards to these clues. I lock those thoughts away in the meantime focusing on the words ahead of me. I’ll come back to those highlighted thoughts later if something else gives me reason to restudy the words. I’ve read every book written by Tarryn. I’ve followed her from the day she released her first book. It’s a privilege to gain access into her mind during the duration of reading one of her books. Since I’ve never met her in person I have to rely on the words she writes in her books. This is the closest I’ll get to being inside her head. Of course, Tarryn is my go to author when I need a refreshing change from the typical tropes. Tarryn writes in a class and category all of her own. I can’t label her books as anything but original. I thrive off of originality. Being an avid reader I tend to lean towards a story that I haven’t already experienced. Tarryn once again graces her readers with the love and support of women. Women band together against men. Once again Tarryn’s the voice for women. In this book Thursday is a female character who wants answers and breaks rules to get them. No man scares Thursday to stop her from getting the answers she deserves. Thursday’s character carried the story. Thursday’s character was the primary focus with three supporting characters. We watch Thursday evolve and adapt in this story based on the findings in her situation. I’m on the hook...invested in the words...dissecting every behavior. The pages turn quickly as I try to piece together the puzzle that is laid out before me. It’s one of the puzzles where the picture is missing so you have to lay out the border first before you can fit the inside pieces together. As each piece gets connected the picture gets closer and closer to being finished. Except there’s that one missing piece that niggles in the back of your mind.

Readingbythesea

The Wives. Interesting finish, loved the twist total surprise.

Chanelle_G_7289

Great page turner read. Chose this as my book clubs January read and so happy I did. Read it in a week and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Psychological thriller that I highly recommend.

Sarahkyle

You’re mind will be blown. Without giving it away....your mind will be blown by the time you finish the book. The ending takes a total different turn than what you may be expecting so pay attention to the little details. Overall, this was a great book and I would definitely read it again. Worth the price in my opinion.

Julz M P

Exciting read!. Amazing book. Only gave it a 4 star because I wanted a different ending. It does Grip you from the start and you are eager for the next page. Expected a different ending but the story is really really good.

Hmitch76

Must Read. Omg! The Wives was freaking mind blowing! This story wasn’t at all what I was expecting. Tarryn Fisher wrote an intriguing, suspenseful story that kept me on my toes. I was captivated from page one. Didn’t want to put the book down because I always needed to see what was going to happen next. One moment I would think that I had everything figured out and the next I’d realize how wrong I was. I can’t write too much because I don’t want to ruin the story for anyone else. Just know that this is an amazing story and if you enjoy well written suspense, you will enjoy this book. One of the best I’ve read this year. Must Read.

MckPack

Captivate from page 1. I am almost half way done with the book and it’s had my interest from the first page.

Qweryyt

Entertaining read. I read this book in one day. I couldn’t put it down.

Polancot23

Rollercoaster ride. This book is amazing and I honestly got two stories in one book. I didn’t expect the ending and I’m very satisfied with how it ended.

Bosslady17

Loved it. This book was so good. Kept be wondering up until the end!

123456789em

No matter how good you think it is while reading it.... it gets better.. Thursday is the second of Seth’s three wives and it is told from her point of view. They have an almost idyllic life ...on the days he stays at her house. Thursday follows the urge to know more about the others wives. She falls down a rabbit hole that left me guessing what was happening up until the very last words of the book. I don’t want to give any spoilers. It’s dark and twisty. It definitely felt like a Tarryn Fisher book. No word is wasted. It is all important. This is absolutely a psychological thriller. I couldn’t put it down. I’m anxious to do a reread at the books release. My mind is still reeling a bit

SunshineandShit

F*ck Yes. Great story, AMAZING characters etc. Just read it.

Phxreads

Terrible. I never write reviews but this book was a waste of time.

JGStanko

YA Fiction, NOT Thriller/Suspense. I don’t write reviews, but had to on this because of my level of disappointment. I chose to read The Wives because it was on the Best Seller and listed as Thriller/Suspense. It took less than a chapter before realizing it’s a YA novel in disguise. I’ll admit that, once I accepted it for what it was, reading through the first 50% of the book became interesting. Unfortunately, the second act - which I’m assuming was written in the way it was to further the author’s point on the main character’s state - was terrible; the outcome disappointingly predictable. I haven’t been this let down by a novel in a long time, and will end on this recommendation: Hard Pass.

Lilb33

Ok, not amazing. I read it quickly because it flows nicely and keeps you interested, but the ending wasn’t what I wanted or expected... all the reading working up to the ending and then it just kinda fell flat. Not a horrible plot but not something I’d recommend. Good author though...

Brittnetta

Thrilling and addicting. I finished this book in 3 days. I literally could not put it down. I needed to know more and more about Seth and Thursday until I realized I finished the book, and I still want to know more 😫

Umm. Umm what the heck is this supposed to be? Is this book really taking stabs at people’s religions and beliefs and if so why is it so inaccurate?!

JackieReadsALot

Absolutely brilliant!. The Wives by Tarryn Fisher is an enthralling look at Thursday’s quest for answers when she finds something that makes her question her unconventional polyamorous marriage. (There’s a phrase I never thought I’d write.) Tarryn Fisher is known for writing amazingly relatable imperfect characters and Thursday is no exception. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last sentence. This book is brilliant. Tarryn Fisher’s writing isn’t for everyone. She’s not hearts and flowers. If you’ve ever wondered if you’re actually the villain in the story, then she’s definitely for you. If you can’t deal with questioning everything you’ve ever held true and unreliable narrators? Not so much.

Mhog87

The Wives. Twist ending. Didn’t see that coming. Loved!

Bibliophile Chloe

What a thriller!. Wow...just wowza...this book!! Ms. Fisher is gonna take you down a deep, dark rabbit hole and won't let you see the light until she is ready to let you go.
The Wives takes you on a dark and twisty tale.  What's reality, what's delusions, what is love and what is hate?  So many questions and the answers are gonna floor you!
Thursday is the central character of this story, she is on the search for the truth in her world. But to find that truth, she has to go through so, so much!
Ms. Fisher has a magic to her words! I couldn't put this story down once I started.  I went through a whole gamut of emotions when reading this! With every character, I could find a reason to admire them and then hate them!  I was second-guessing myself as I was reading this and that was amazing to me!  Who was the victim? Who was the perpetrator?  Who was the hero/heroine?  Even at the end, I was wondering who to really cheer for in this story.
This is the definition of a thriller!  This story is going to take your mind on a wild ride and you are going to need a minute or a day when you finish to really let the amazingness of this story to settle in!
Bravo Ms. Fisher!

SerenaK22

When Gone Girl and Girl on the Train collide, you get The Wives!. “It’s all too perfect, I think. When things are that perfect, something is wrong.“ Wow. It’s been a long time since I sat down and read a book cover to cover without stopping but once I got on The Wives express, I couldn’t get off. The Wives is told from the voice of Thursday, wife #2. She doesn’t know anything about the other two wives, which makes this polygamy tale very unique. Things aren’t always as they seem and that unfolds very quickly in this fast paced psychological thriller. I thought I had it all figured out and then the floor dropped out from under the rollercoaster I was on. Ms. Fisher delivers a heart pounding, page turner. The writing and twists reminded me of the likes of Gone Girl or Girl on the Train. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, I highly recommend checking out The Wives! You won’t be disappointed.

Slyone2701

PLN4Life. Tarryn Fisher is one of my auto-buy authors. The Wives topped my TBR list as soon as it was announced. After reading this, it is evident that Tarryn has mastered the art of the unreliable narrator. Thursday’s world seems perfectly settled, until it isn’t. Her search for answers is steady and builds to a fever pitch that leaves the reader breathless. I loved the little nods to Tarryn’s earlier works. They felt like little winks to all the secrets we share as her loyal readers. I was also excited to see the same Nordstrom-shopping villain that we all know and love. Bravo Tarryn! . . • Happy Release Day, I am so proud of you!!! 🖤💀✨. . • Thanks so much to @harpercollins for sending me an early copy!

Incredible—On the edge of my seat the whole time. I barely wanted to put this book down. I looked forward to reading more every moment I could. Incredible job by Tarryn Fisher.

Don’t waste your time!. Terrible story . Not worth the time not the money. I HAD to give it one star or it would not let me post.

Egwicks13

Shocked!. The book was really suspenseful & it kept me guessing throughout. The author cared so much about character development & I really loved the main protagonist (although it was hard at times.) The ending had my jaw DROP - completely blown away. Those who don’t like this book must read this genre every day.. I absolutely LOVED it. 5/5 for me.
