Wow, just wow. I’ve felt so many emotions reading this book. I even had a good cry. Even though some pivotal moments were predictable, I ate it all up. Didn’t think I would like it at first based on the first interaction of the main characters, but it was totally worth the read.

Must read!!!. It’s been a while since I shed tears for a book. I didn’t hysterically cry, but the tears were there. I couldn’t put it down and I’m currently writing a small review at 03:33 am. It’s an easy read, beautiful characters, and even though it has some clichés this book still managed to give plot twists. Can’t wait to read Sloan’s book!!

Sweet and fun read. First off, the book is very well written and witty, full of diverse moments bound to hit you in the feels. I usually don’t read books like this because it was too predictable, but the sentiment and enduring issues hit home for me. The romance is pg13 and kept to a minimum and kept the focus on the plot and emotional aspects—which was a plus. It’s a good, quick read. Should definitely try it and read the book!

Romantic and tear jerker. The romance was there from the beginning. There is moments when you get annoyed with certain characters but the book pulls you in again. Loved the ending and the love between the main characters!

The Best!. I initially picked this book to read because I want to support Latinx authors and was looking for a good romantic comedy. I didn’t have high expectations since I’ve read almost 80 books this year so far and have been consistently disappointed. This book is by far the best book I’ve read this year. It has all the essentials I’m looking for in a good book - character development, realistic and relatable characters, lol humor, sexual tension, and unexpected plot twists. I actually laughed out loud and cried while reading this book. I will definitely be reading anything and everything by this author.

Worth the read!. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to read this book or not considering the contents, but I’m glad I did! Dealing with fertility issues of my own and knowing I’ll never conceive naturally I was genuinely worried this book might bring up things I didn’t want to feel. The book was full of love and laughter as well as tears of happiness. It wasn’t your typical sappy happily ever after and yet it was despite the tragedies. It gave the raw , real life, messy parts of love with all relationships. Hell, just go read it!

Heartbreakingly Beautiful. Ex marine firefighter who moonlights as a carpenter? YES, please! This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. I absolutely loved the back and forth between Kristen and Josh. This enemies to friends to lovers romance is perfection. I laughed, I sobbed, I felt all the things. I loved the real life situations these characters dealt with. The secondary characters in this were so good I immediately purchased the second book. Highly recommended!

Unrealistic communication. I had high hopes for this book and while I like many aspects of the character development and humor, I just can’t get on board with major conflicts that could be alleviated if not entirely solved by honest, adult conversation. I have a hard time with this kind of plot device in even a zany comedy, and it being embedded in an otherwise very realistic story about infertility, intimacy, and friendship made it less believable and more irritating. It made it difficult to empathize with the female protagonist and I ended up scanning through the past third of the book

Heartbreaking. This book had me rolling with laughter and was just so well written. I love both Kris and Josh so much. Great characters. Very strong and funny... The ending of course I am super happy about but some parts just gutted me. I was shocked and still can’t stop thinking about them. This book had me laughing and in tears. 100% recommend

Wow. I accidentally read this series in reverse, which made certain events so much harder because I knew they were coming. Abby has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her books are real, fresh, hilarious and make you FEEL so many things. Loved Josh and Kristin, and the setup for Sloane. Beautiful story!

WOW.. I thought this book sounded cute when I read the description, so I decided why not read it! Holy crap. My expectations were blown out of the water. This book made me laugh and cry. You immediately get sucked in and feel right along with the characters! Periods and self-love... 2 things you don’t read about everyday! Every girl should read because of how beautiful this story is, but also because of how strong Kristen is as she endures with uncertainty about her future and learns how to love herself, not matter what she is able or unable to do. Seriously, just read this book. You will not regret it!!!

So unexpectedly wonderful.. The cover of this book in no way reflects how emotional and intense it gets. Funny and lighthearted at points, yes. But also so much more. Rarely do I equally love both characters in a story but Josh and Kristen are just everything. You get to know them and they’re easy to fall in love with. Read the book. I’m jealous of those of you who have yet to start it. It’s something special.

Couldn’t put it down!. This book was so easy to read that I couldn’t put it down! I could say so much more but don’t want to spoil it. My description: romantic, more serious than a comedy, relatable and realistic with the situations presented, young love, the chase at the beginning with romantic mishaps then the ending being sad, thought-provoking (for me at least), but also just what you need to call it a good read! I would recommend to my friends.

Funny and catchy but also cheesy. I didn’t expect the twist of events with Brandon, but it did make the story line stronger. The author did a great job of painting the story in front of the reader to picture every detail. I didn’t like the fights of the same things over and over, repeating the same thing and the details that just made the plot unnecessarily longer. I think it could have been shorter a bit by omitting the details, and I mean the “cheesy” ones. It was a light read after all, and it did bring up good points when exploring femininity, respect, and strength in the book.

Heart warming.. I enjoyed these characters, and I was moved by the emotions of the story.

loved it!!. this book made me smile so much and made my heart hurt. the good way and the bad way. i felt pain, frustration, happiness, sadness, anxiousness, excitement, and humor. the story was pretty predictable and a bit of a cliché, not to mention very cheesy, but still amazing. if you like that sort of thing, like i surely do, then i definitely recommend this book. it’s humorous, sad, predictable, and most of all, lovable. this book surely did not disappoint me, it was absolutely amazing. i know i’m going to reread this book in the future. i can’t wait for the next book!! LOVE. First book to ever make me cry. Really. Loved the story, the heartbreak hurt my heart but I loved the book regardless. Such a great read.

Fun but this is not how LA works.. Look, this was lovely, but I grew up and currently live literally where this book takes place, like in these characters’ neighborhood. DTLA is not 15 minutes from Canoga Park, even at 2am (~30 minutes at *best*, and I’m looking at about 5am on a Sunday). You cannot run from Roscoe to the donut shop on Vanowen conveniently or in a reasonable amount of time to make that your meetup spot after light vandalism (it’s not close and the lights here are roughly twenty hours long, and it’s not pedestrian friendly). The Simi Valley parts really killed me, though. Simi Valley does not have avenues with boutiques, salons, and certainly not restaurants with ice sculptures. The average Simi Valley street is lined with strip malls, and there are about four nice-ish restaurants no fancy Angeleno would actually consider fancy. Sutter’s Mill has great fried cheesecake but your average bougie person is going to Westlake, maybe Thousand Oaks, if she’s leaving Los Angeles County for a nice meal. But honestly, no bougie people I know here go much past Agoura Hills unless they’re going all the way up to Santa Barbara or Ojai for a weekend. Don’t get me wrong, Ventura County has great food, but it’s thoroughly and historically disregarded by LA.

“Friend” Zone. I cried tears from sadness, and I cried tears from happiness. This book is funny, witty, strong in character development, and so easy to love. I would highly recommend.

Best book ever. Okay I say that about every book Abby writes. I love that she makes me laugh cry sad and incredibly happy. She writes about real life experiences with such heart. I being one of many women with infertility horrible periods this book describes what so many of us have gone through. acceptance is not defeat it doesn’t make us less of a woman it does allow us to move and find our own hea. Read this book it’s special.

So deciding to lose a few minutes of my life in the Tictok app brought me to Stuntman Mike and his mommy whom I wish (with all of my heart) was my next door neighbor. This book is just the beginning of a wonderful relationship. Read the digital and now going to purchase a hard copy for my collection. I highly recommend Abby to send you on the best emotional roller coaster of your life!

loved it but I’m angry. I hate this book for making sob uncontrollably when I least expected it. But even though I’m angry because I didn’t sign up for emotional torment when I began reading this, I can’t give this book a lower rating than it deserves. It’s a wonderful romance that deals with serious issues that hugely impact so many people and I loved the writing. Just wish I didn’t have to burn through a tissue box in the process of reading it lol

Fabululous. This debut novel certainly lived up to the hype! Abby Jimenez hit it out of the park with The Friend Zone! This story is slow burn, addictive, laugh out loud funny and heart wrenching all wrapped up in a pretty little Josh and Kristen package. These characters are lovable, fun and sooo relatable. I had a hard time tearing myself away. I needed to know how these two got to their happy ending. It’s not any easy journey but it sure was worth the read and I absolutely can not wait for what’s to come.

Unrealistic. The description of this book from a reputable website was an honest look at infertility, but as I called from the 10th page was, I bet she will get miraculously pregnant. This is not reality, nor should it be a book about “infertility”.

✨ Be My Universe ✨. 5 stars isn’t enough for this laugh out loud, beautifully honest, and sometimes heartbreaking novel. This book consumed me in the best way possible right from the start and I’m confident it will be one of my favorite reads ever. The Friend Zone was one of my most anticipated reads of 2019 and it was more captivating and moving than I ever could have imagined. It’s hard to believe that this is Abby Jimenez’s debut novel! I absolutely loved Josh and Kristen! They were both such perfectly imperfect people. Their struggles (individually and together) were so relatable and honest. They had the best witty banter and their playful barbs were so much fun. I loved how they each gave as good as they got. Things start off on the wrong foot for them, but as they spend more time together, that spark they felt ignites and they recognize that their attraction is more than just physical. They truly see the other and that feeling of being known is so powerful. The build up between these two was delicious and their chemistry was off the charts. I felt all the longing and every stolen moment between them. It was all worth the wait though because when things come to a head, they aren’t just hot, they’re nuclear! Without a doubt, Josh is a shoo-in for my book boyfriend hall of fame. He was everything I love in a hero - loving, considerate, loyal, understanding, funny, protective, intelligent, and an all around good guy. His thoughtfulness and unwavering patience only made him more endearing. Kristen was a fantastically complex heroine. I loved her blunt honesty and take no prisoners sarcasm, even though she mainly used it as armor to protect herself. She was fiercely loyal and cared so deeply and wholly for those that she loved. Her friendship with Sloan was unparalleled and I loved how they complemented each other so well. Yes, Kristen did frustrate me at times with the push and pull with Josh, but given her history and mindset, it made so much sense. One of the things I appreciated most about this book, is that the story was as much a love story between Kristen and Josh, as it was between Kristen and herself. The author’s sense of humor really shines and there are some truly hilarious moments and dialogue that had me cackling like a mad woman. (I’m looking at you Shawn! LOL ) The humor balanced the poignant and heartwrenching scenes so well and readers will definitely want to have some tissues handy for the last quarter or so of the book. Through the tears though, there is also a wonderful message of hope and unwavering love. I don’t think I will ever be able to adequately express how much I loved this book. It resonated and touched me in a way that few books have. It was like the author opened my chest and held my heart in her hands. I felt every emotion while reading this one. Jimenez tackled infertility in such a compassionate and truthful way. It was gut wrenching and painful, but to those that have had their lives touched in this way or are a part of this club that no one ever wants membership to, it’s also unflinchingly honest. Kristen’s feelings of worthlessness and not being good enough will sadly hit home for many, but that’s what makes this book so compelling. I highly recommend reading the author’s note at the end as well since it gives greater insight into the story and characters. The epilogue brought everything together so wonderfully and I’m eagerly awaiting the next book, which features one of the beloved secondary characters who is sorely in need of their own happily ever after. Truly an incredible book and one that will stay with me. *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*

It gives you hope that no matter what mess you’re life’s in, someone special will be sent to accept and help you get through ❤️

No.. There’s a lot to like about this book: swoon worthy guy. A cute dog. But that’s ruined by the repetitive angst from the female lead. She was so annoying, I skipped over pages to skip the same thoughts and conversations. The book could have been significantly shorter and stronger without it. The tragic twist was both cruel and unnecessary, merely there to cause drama. It didn’t further the plot in any way.

Must read. I laughed, I cried, I smiled and I sighed my way though this incredible book. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in a day. It took unexpected turns and kept me on my toes. You get so attached to the characters and I was rooting them on as I turned the pages. 10/10 recommend

My kind of sarcasm. I bought this last night. Finished this afternoon. I picked it up during every break, sneaked pages when no one was looking. Handed my son his iPad and said mommy needs 15 minutes. Shhhhh. The story was sarcastic, sweet, with just a hint of sad. I laughed. A lot. Cried a little too. What a great read!

You’ll laugh out loud making your husband think you are crazy. Then you’ll ugly cry making him know you are! And you’ll definitely fall in love with this book! Abby takes a very scary but relatable subject to far to many of us and turns it into such a wonderful heartfelt story with a lot of comedy and wit thrown in! And what can I say but everyone needs a Stuntman in their lives! A definite must read!!!!

This book rips you at the seams of your core. Such a powerful story of infertility, loss, love, heartbreak, and a whole lot of humor to heal those wounds after Abby Jimenez cuts a piece of your heart open. This will probably be my absolute favorite book of 2019 hands down.

You will not put this down!. Okay I just finished reading ‘The Friend Zone’ by and let me just say Wow! It wasn’t what I expected the book to be about but I couldn’t put it down. Despite the range of emotions I had reading it I would highly recommend it. It’s great writing that has you loving rooting for the characters all the way to the end.
