Lethal White by Robert Galbraith
Lethal White by Robert Galbraith Book Summary
An unsettling cold case investigation ensnares Cormoran Strike and his partner in a web of dangerous secrets in this #1 New York Times bestseller, the inspiration for HBO Max's acclaimed series C.B. Strike.
When a troubled young man named Billy asks Cormoran Strike to help him investigate a crime he witnessed as a child, the private eye is left deeply troubled. While Billy is obviously mentally distressed and cannot remember many concrete details, there is something sincere about him and his story. But before Strike can question him further, Billy bolts from his office in a panic.
Trying to get to the bottom of Billy's story, Strike and Robin Ellacott -- once his assistant, now a partner in the agency -- set off on a twisting trail that leads them through the backstreets of London, into a secretive inner sanctum within Parliament, and to a beautiful but sinister manor house deep in the countryside. And during this labyrinthine investigation, Strike's own life is far from straightforward. His newfound fame as a private eye means he can no longer operate behind the scenes as he once did. Plus, his relationship with his former assistant is more fraught than it ever has been; Robin is now invaluable to Strike in the business, but their personal relationship is much, much trickier than that. The most epic Robert Galbraith novel yet, Lethal White is "addictive, murderous fun" for British mystery lovers and crime fiction fans alike (Vox).

Decent. Ok read
FORMULAIC. So very predictable and tedious. This is the last one of these that I will give any of my valuable time to as life is too short. I forced myself to finish the book instead of kicking it to the curb as I should have done in the beginning.
Lethal white. Started to slow for me but having read the other books I knew it would pick up. Finally it was so hard to put down, I thought it was a great and thrilling book.
Love this series. I love this series and this book is as well written as the others. Not sure what another reviewer meant by “ripped bodice romance”, that’s not what this is. One thing that bothers me, although not about the book itself, but why have faces been leant to the covers? Way to ruin the Robin and Strike in my mind’s eye. I mean, the Strike from the covers is not even close to the boxer’s-profile, pubed-hair description from the book. Otherwise, loved this and can’t wait for the next one in the series.
TENSION!. Love the tension between the two main characters. Cormoran hugging Robin before leaving her wedding (not theirs) could possibly…or most definitely IS the sexiest paragraph I’ve ever read in a novel.
Perfect murder mystery. Lethal White was the perfect murder mystery! I love the way “Galbraith” unravels stories bit by bit and never makes anything too obvious. The details are meticulous and make the story so special. The story was slightly slow at points throughout the first half of the book but picks up right before the start of part 2 and doesn’t let up until the end. “Galbraith” is a master at shifting perspectives seamlessly. I would recommend brushing up on the previous book in the series, because I found myself wishing I had reread it recently as I went along. Overall, the writing was brilliant, just brilliant. I was unsure of who was guilty up until the very end. Nothing is fully revealed until the author decides to expose it. Not quite as dark as the previous 2 books in the series, but still had the perfect amount of scandal, twists, and turns to keep me captivated. Hoping she continues the series and released another fantastic book of murder and mystery soon!
Liked. I enjoyed this
Loved it. I think many people didn’t appreciate how good a writer JK Rowling was in the Harry Potter novels because of the child friendly subject material. Personally I think she has a gift for bringing characters to life. Even though this novel follows the well worn path of a detective procedural, the thing that sets it apart is the writing for each character, location and event. Highly recommended, assuming you like detective novels - of course!
Good mystery. Good mystery that keeps you guessing. Love these books! Keep them coming “Robert”!
Lethal White. I am an avid reader- mainly mysteries, criminal elements- I also have my favorite writers, among them is J. K. Rowling! If you haven’t read any of her/his books with this wonderful detective and his sidekick, Robin, you are truly missing out! They are the most enthralling, intriguing plots that I have ever read. I HIGHLY recommend this series!!! Lethal White had to be one of the most complicated, intricate books of the four, to have written. I can usually figure out what is going to happen and who the culprits are, where the story is going, but not this book. It took me by surprise and I absolutely loved it!! Thank you for a great, great read!!
Great books. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the books in this series. Amazingly entertaining. Her adult writing is as interesting and riveting as her previous series. And grounded in reality. So fun.
Lethal White. Outstanding book I enjoyed reading over the past few days!! It’s my favorite of the series, so I’m glad I didn’t let a few mediocre reviews deter me! I can’t wait for the next book in this series!!
Bloody Brilliant!. Galbraith has done it again! These novels take you through a portal. You can’t put it down! The writing is done so well you feel what Strike and Robin are feeling. Can’t wait to keep reading and watch Strike and Robin make the best agency in London!
Another wonderful read. Fun writing, excellent characters, great plot.
Great!. Love love love this book! Robin’s journey is really the star of this novel.
Cool. Cool story bro
Another good read. I have just read all 4 Galbraith novels across a 2 week span, so this review has the immediate perspective of them all. This book, as others have noted, was longer and more complex than the previous Galbraith books. In some ways that worked really well, such as to develop the main characters a bit more fully and to have a more complex mystery. However, the many twists and multitude of characters at times felt a bit like a drag on the plot. That said, I still found it an engaging read. Having read through the other reviews I was expecting more sex and a romantic turn (Do Strike and Robin finally...?) but that is a misrepresentation. There are interesting plot developments in terms of the connection between the hero and heroine, but this is not a romance.
Great book! Love the characters and the story!. It is hard to put down!
Disappointed. This book, unlike her 3 others in this series, was so boring. Way too long. Too many characters.
Excellent. Can’t wait for the next installment!
Excellent. Love the main characters and the intriguing plot. Enjoyable read!
Leathal white. The only thing I can criticize about this book is that I now must wait for the next one. The writing is superb. The plot is really gripping and makes you think. Shanna1957
Spellbinding. The writing is extraordinary. In fact so good that I was envious that on my best day I could not write one page as good as aunt in the book.
Lethal White is Galbraith’s best so far!. Twists and red herrings made this a fantastic read. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
Lethal White. In my opinion the story was way to complicated and the book was also to long. I have also read Career of Evil which I enjoyed far more. John Galbraith
Boring.. Drags a LOT. Meandering, boring for chapter after chapter at times. I enjoyed the previous Strike books, but if this had been the first one I read, it would have been the only one I read.
Covers much too far apart. Read first three Strike novels and liked them but was very let down by this one....too much bodice ripping romance (snore) and a goofy plot (some serious class bashing). Save your money.
Lethal White. Love the C.B Strike novels! They are intriguing, exciting, exceptional stories! The main characters, Strike & Robin, capture your heart & soul. This fourth was is my favorite!
Lethal white. Best yet. Loved the character’s emotional access in their relationships and the case!
Another gem. Well done, again. Complicated story, but well told/written.
Lethal white. Greatbook
Sublime. Makes me want to be a better everythan
OUTSTANDING!. Truly enjoyed it, start to finish, in every aspect. Excellent writing, plot, characters and pace. Recommend it to anyone who can appreciate a gifted writer.
Cormoran strikes again. Full pun intended! Such a great read!

It’s ok. Probably my least favourite so far in the series, as it’s a tad drawn-out. I did find myself caring less about “whodunnit” and more about the relationship between the lead characters. Overall a good read, just not terribly surprising.
Highly Addictive. Couldn’t put the book down. Engaged in the mystery and the “will they or won’t they” of the Robin-Strike Relationship. Enjoyed watching Robin’s character develop and grow into a strong, independent woman.
Lethal White. Robert Galbraith #4. Too long and overly complicated with a few too many threads that are left dangling. A lot of banging on about the British class system. Reminds me of the series by Elizabeth George
