HarleyTaylor - Long but worth it
Really drawn out.. sometimes I skim through the useless information and get to the good parts :.. all in all worth it
Missrorohick - Just Okay
I found myself a little bored reading this book, and there were points where I couldn’t wait for it to be over. A lot of the book was unnecessary fluff, which made the book much longer than it needed to be. Again, just okay for me.
Lily💜📱 - love
i saw so many people reading this so i decided to and it’s literally my favorite book ever
the termister - That book feeling!
You know that feeling when the part of the book is getting really good and you just need to put it down for a second to prepare yourself for what’s about the come next? Yes, well I did that a lot. I loved this book along with all of the other books it was beautifully written and not cringe at all to read.
Jacquelynkd - ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely loved this book. It was one of my favorites from the Campus and Briar series.
Love the characters!
get_fukin_spooked - My least favorite of the series
I couldn’t find myself relating to either of the main characters. I wasn’t even rooting for their romance, honestly, I thought the protagonist would be better with someone else (I won’t spoil). I couldn’t find myself relating to the protagonist’s line of thought or supporting her actions. In fact, I was chanting “no, no, no” during many parts of the book. I’m thinking Summer and I just wouldn’t see eye to eye in real life, haha. The writing isn’t bad or anything, some people might really enjoy this, but personally, I just didn’t really like either characters.
I REALLY like the other three installments in this series though, so I’d highly recommend reading those. I started with ‘The Dare’ (one of my favorites) and went from there. You don’t necessarily have to read the stories in order, but reading them chronologically is kind of nice in the sense that you see the characters for the next book introduced and interacting and building tension, in some cases.
FaithRivers21 - Quick Intriguing Read
I absolutely loved this story. There was great descriptions and loved the name choices. I was able to picture this book as a movie in my head while reading it. Very similar to the After series by Anna Todd. I will definitely be reading more of your work. I’d kill to see Summer and Fitzy in real life !!! Great job!!!
CarlyEU - The Catch
Love love loved this book! Would give it more than 5 stars if I could! So intriguing and hard to put down!
lollllarose - Basic
Very basic love story.
Laytons_mama - 👍🏼👍🏼
I don’t normally write reviews, but I thought this book was so good. I loved Summer and her personality. It had a little bit of everything. Highly recommend and may reread it again!

Kyblondiechick - Great book
This was a great book and I’m so glad it was available for free!
oates23 - The Chase
A great read that had me laughing and absolutely loving the romance. Can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
anna aet - unlikeable characters
for some reason i hated every single character in this book like every single one. idk maybe fitz just isn’t my type but the way they hurt hunter kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
Linzi2 - This book!!
What can I say about this book? Well I loved it! I read A LOT of book and this one is the best book I have read in awhile. It’s one of those books that has you wondering what’s going to happen next and keeps you reading even though it’s 3 am and you should really be asleep bc you have to get up for work. It has some spicy moments, some funny moments, as well as sad moments. It also has a serious side to it that brings awareness to someone that might have a learning disability but gives them the strength to keep going and not let it stop them. If you’re looking for something new this book is a must read!
mms136 - A MUST READ
I have never written a book review in my life. I have however, read countless cheesy iBooks. This book is so phenomenally written with a beyond incredible storyline!!! (Not cheesy). I read this book in 3 nights. Staying up until 3am the first night, 4 am the second, and then 3 am AGAIN. In a row. I laughed out loud at this story multiple times and felt the same excitement, anguish, anger, love, and happiness as the characters! I applaud this work of thought and recommend you read it.
lowlennn - Love love lobr
I really loved this book. This is the type of books I love reading. Literally the chase kind of romance. It didn’t drag on but didn’t rush anything either. Perfect amount of explicit scenes but not to where it was too much! I wish this story would continue to another book but I can’t wait to read more of here! I love these characters!
imisdeva - OMG
This. Was. Pure. Gold.
M.naqibs - Briar U
The entire series is just great. Amazing. Frankly I don’t think I’ve read a bad book by her.
jane2053 - The Chase
TikaE25 - It’s good
It was very nice to read
snell13 - LOVED THIS BOOK
I couldn’t stop reading it, sure it was predictable at some points. Summer is someone I connect with deeply and honestly this book screams situations that I know some of my friends have run into. I definitely recommend. Also another positive is that the explicit scenes are not written like a 13 year old on Wattpad writing smut.
2/10/14 - Beautiful
A story I’m glad I read. Never thought I could relate to something so much. Thank you ❤️
xxcscdficucufufuff - Love this book
This book is the best mixture of sexy and love and life story and I love it with my heart and I think I have reread this book like 20 times I love it so much and I strongly recommend it for anybody that loves romance
lovebarryshatetheapp - Serious topics handled poorly
I’ve read a lot from Elle Kennedy and typically I adore her light, happy, sexy romances. This one missed the mark in a lot of ways. TW: Sexual assault. The issue of sexual misconduct at the collegiate level was handled poorly. If she was going to go there, she should have taken it more seriously. Sexual assault/harassment should not become the next romance troupe and this made it seem like something to add to the romance formulas. The pacing of the book was weird and the first 300 pages dragged on and on. I liked the characters but overall I wouldn’t recommend this.
I Won't Look Back - Chase
It was very believable and said a lot about true friendships
LettersToMe - love Love LOVED this book
I couldn’t put this book down. I loved Summer and Fitzy’s story. It was perfect and definitely a must read!!
lacesud - The Chase
Absolutely loved it!
mastiffmom 18 - Easy read with likable characters
I found it to be entertaining and easy to read. I liked that the ‘rich’ girl had a learning disability- seemed to make her more like a real person. I will look at the rest of the series now for sure.
<3Books! - Loved it!
Immediately read the others in this series and the spinoff series. Totally recommend!
Cassie Brode - Good book
Hmm. I wasn’t sure if I was going to or wanted to give this book a review. But I always post my reviews on my blog.
So with that being said. I have wanted to read this series. Glad I got around to reading; was I disappointed no. But I can say I feel bad for Hollie and hope he ends up with a book too because I like to see the guy happy. After all, Brenna not giving him a chance.
Also, Hunter should’ve known that he wasn’t going to get Summer in the end. I mean, she was so into Fritz that she was only using him to rid of herself of Fritz. Which I thought was so wrong. I did felt bad for both Fritz and Hunter because I mean she was stringing them both along. She got mad with Fritz, so she’ll use Hunter as a distraction. Knowing that it may be feeling there when it came to Hunter and her.
I wish that Fritz could’ve told Hunter that yes back off because I too like her or something like that or at least said to him that let’s see who she’ll pick so that our friendship doesn’t end up ruin, which neither of that happened. Hunter stops dealing with them both. I hope that they work out their friendship in the end. Because I liked Fritz and Hunter as friends, plus, no guy should let a girl come between their friendship.
But come on, Hunter should’ve known that something was going on with Fritz and Summer. They were playing that game between them, where he was in denial, and she was pushing things. It had to take Fritz awhile to admit to his feeling. I was glad that he finally admitted to things; they ended up together. Because lord knows he was hurting Summer too.
But I also felt that Summer didn’t push into guys. The way That Nora and her advisor assume. Guys were attracted to her, and girls were jealous of her. Even her advisor didn’t believe what she said about her professor Laurie until what happens between Laurie and Nora when he tried to rap her. Like gah, cause someone looks a certain way doesn’t mean they go looking for trouble. Glad that they worked things out with that Laurie guy because he was a creep.
sunshine 🥰 - Great Read
Couldn’t stop reading it was a really good book with a great storyline.
keeling momma - Couldn’t stop!!
Loved this book
teachamerica - The Chase by Elle Kennedy
Starts out cheesy but becomes entertaining and funny. Loved the characters and as a special ed teacher, was heartwarming to have special learning needs addressed realistically .
mommy2427 - Excellent
Couldn’t stop reading it
Leslie.Mayo - Great and not typical
The story is not typical. It has interesting characters. The main characters are great. The love story is sweet. I very much enjoyed reading it.
liz3737281 - More
Wish there was more to their story. Loved it.
lulub47 - great book!
It’s definitely worth the read! I couldn’t put the book down. I love how the heroin put her mind into her work and never easily gave up. This book is super sweet and sexy. Absolutely loved it :))<3
meor71 - The chase
I gotta say, it has been a while since I read a book by Elle Kennedy. I also had doubts but when I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the fact that the heroin came from money but wasn’t a snob or catty like most well off women. I really loved that the author gave her a learning disability that made it hard for her to write long essays but still made her an outgoing, open and trusting girl who made friends easily because she chose to trust people before she got to know them better. I’m guaranteed to read the whole series. It’s full of heart, laughter, and tears. ❤️ love ❤️ it. 🥰😊
Creativenickname00987 - I Really Enjoyed It
I wasn’t expecting this book to be this good considering it was free but I was proven wrong. I loved it. I fell in love with the main character and her love interest. Really great book.
Readerx97 - Great book!
What a great book! I couldn’t put it down! Finished it quicker than I intended but that just shows how great of a book it is!

olivialliu - definitely recommend
Elle Kennedy= such a brilliant new adult author.
Of course, I knew that when I first fell in love with her and Jen Frederick's writing for the Royals Series (which I am obsessed with) and their other standalone novels.
Briar U is the spin-off series for Off-Campus Series, which I have read the first novel of (and loved it). And The Chase follows the characters of Summer and Fitzy.
✧ Summer is ambitious. She loves fashion and is very upbeat, and she loves socializing. Summer is really the life of the party. I love her inner voice (Selena Gomez), and I love how she always lifts herself independently.
✧ Fitzy is a hockey player. Which is practically everything I need to know about him to already fall in love with. But, even though he plays hockey, he is also much more introverted than you would expect. Fitzy enjoys spending his time drawing and designing video games. It is a win-win.
Summer & Fitzy's relationship
It is an understatement when said that they are equivalent to "opposites attract." And they work so well together, well in the end, of course, the journey there was difficult, and there were many instances where I wanted to scream into my pillow and knock some sense into Fitz.
I am really excited to continue this series with Brenna & Jake's story :)
emiliecv_2003 - Oh my freaking god 🥰🥰🥰
Omg is all I have to say 🥰
delphine mercier - Great read !
I really liked it , so funny ! page 203 I couldn’t stop laughing for 20 minutes! Looking forward to read the other books !
Harmon's ol lady - Awesome
CaliGrownWithLove - Colin & Summer - slow storyline
The storyline between Colin and Summer is very slow. For example, the book is over a thousand pages, but they don’t get together until you hit the 800’s. I wish more of the story had been focused on them together, as opposed to them individually doing their own things. Also, an epilogue would have been a nice addition for them since there was only about 200 pages of them actually together.
bai123xo - A little slow
I found this one a little slower than her other novels but still a great read, I wasn’t as attached to the characters either but no regrets on the buy ! Highly recommend to anyone that loves her books, this one might just take an extra day or 2 to get through
Nsloot - The chase
Loved the characters, loved the story
krichards2019 - The chase
Great story though I found the verb tense used to be awkward in wording. Often my brain automatically switched to past tense, which was a bit frustrating to constantly do but made the story read easier and more fluent. Content and story wise though, it was great !
macky moe - review
i love it!! the characters are so well put together and its all amazing 😊
wahweewoe - 10/10
Just as good as the other briar U books! Loved it, the female and male main characters are so easy to cheer for
great old person - Fantastic
Loved it, couldn’t put it down
Abbey1123 - Light-hearted easy read!
Really enjoyed this book, was really light-hearted and easy to read. The characters were realistic which made it even better! Good read.
rmncereader - Another fantastic series.
One of the first series I had ever read. Highly recommend. I read every book in the series and fell in love with every character and their stories. If you like this then check out the rixon raiders series!
ChrissyGaga - The chase
It’s a good light romantic read.
It has an element of realism, and I can relate to all characters at some points.
Hodgo26 - Need more!!!
Well this book!! I couldn’t put it down! It’s a great book to lose yourself in for a short time. I wish there was more! I would definitely buy the sequel if one is written!
callistoprime - Excellent reading!

charlieannebignall - Fantastic
couldn’t put it down, only took me a full 24 hours! thank god for days off work🥺🥺😍😍
Jasontap - Caitlyn <3
Who doesn’t love a nerd-jock? That’s like the most adorable combination. An athletic guy who is also super artsy and creative. Sometimes Summer got on my nerves but I love Fitzy & Summer together. They are super cute and I love Fitzy so much!
Fabricaholic50 - Loved it!!!
A great book. All the books from Briar University have been some of my favourites. Definitely one of my fave authors.
rreaderr94 - Wow
Amazing!!! Such a great book and author! I love her books and this one definitely didn’t disappoint. I just wanted to keep reading about Fitz and Summer and be In their lives! Great book, highly recommended
Anon88888BB - Summer & Fitzy
Great author!!! Check out all her books!
Madeleinee16 - Love love loved it
Honestly one of my favourite books now. Just finished it. I couldn’t put it down, I just wanted to keep reading a be a part of these people’s lives. I was so invested and needed to know what happens and how it ended. That’s when you know you’ve picked up a good book.
Can’t wait for Brennas story
Although would love more of Summer and Fitz.
bre2907 - LOVED IT
Omg I absolutely loved this book! Ironically my 2 children are named Sommer and Hunter, and my names Breanna which completely freaked me out! But what a great book! I was worried there wouldn’t be a ‘twist’ but nearing the end it was there. It’s so great to read a modern book that’s so completely relatable. I’ve already pre-ordered the next one! Can’t wait 😜
Jaxwright57 - Great to be back in Elle Kennedy’s Hockey World
4.5 Stars for The Chase which is book 1 in Elle Kennedy’s new Briar U series and this takes us back in to her steamy hockey world.
Fitzy maybe a talented hot hockey player but he is also a bit of a nerd he is smart he loves video games but he can be introverted and sometimes struggles to communicate due to his abusive family history, he grew up with his parents fighting and that means he is not ready for a relationship.
Summer has just transferred to Briar and she needs a place to live after her new sorority sisters refuse to let her move in so her big brother Dean calls in some favours and she ends up a roommate to Fitz,Hollis and Hunter. Summer has crushed on Fitz for a while so being his roommate may not be the easy life both these guys are looking for. Summer also has issues that she has to deal with on a daily basis she comes from a very successful family but she has a learning disability and each day brings a new challenge to the gorgeous girl that a lot of the other girls love to hate. The laid back Fitz may be the perfect match for Summer but will he ready to take the jump and see that relationships can work if you are with the right girl.
This is a fun easy read that captivates you from the first page it has characters with real life issues it’s funny it’s sad and it’s a great read. Looking forward to the next in the series.
FIDGEY_23 - Not my cup of tea
I know this genre of novel runs on a particular predictable formula, but this one’s cliches were extra cringe.
Ashleereed - Loved
Loved it, wasn’t too mushy and Great wit!
MissSunShine! - Loved the intensity
I’d read it again. I loved the intensity of the romance and the honesty of the characters.
trzmielofon - My favourite one

karissiaa76 - Good read
Very enjoyable and light hearted
pinkbeargurl - I love fitzy
I read the Off-Campus series and I wanted to continue on the same kind of genre and story line and I love this book. I am deeply in love with Colin and I’m determined to think that if I dont find someone like him then I dont want it. safe to say I love the book
lady_567 - do not recommend

achià_95 - Good book
It’s a fun and interesting story
Fearn32 - Fantastic
I love this book! Finally not a straight forward predictable love story. Hot, passionate will they won’t they end up together. Reminds me of Bridget Jones in there wasn’t only one possible love interest. The characters were all fantastic, laugh out loud and filled with raw emotion. Looking forward to reading more of her books.

Worth the read. Elle Kennedy does not disappoint.🙂
Dee268 - Hard to put down!
I loved this book! It was sweet and sexy and romantic and funny! I’m on to the next one!
Cotton Candy_ - Loved it!
I actually didn’t want it to end! The thing I loved more and found most fascinating was Summer’s personality. I just wanted to keep reading her interactions with people and reading how Fitz saw her.
I loved how everything was balanced, even thought there was kind of a love triangle, it wasn’t the annoying “she’s playing with two guys at the same time” it was actually understandable and I liked that.
Overall I enjoyed reading it, obviously no book is perfect but I feel this one is almost there.
Loved it :))
hrasley - Super sweet
Honestly, I never expect to like girl main characters because a lot of people write them really bad. Personal opinion. I truly enjoyed this read, seemed like the characters were very genuine.
Wynter7Sash - Average
It was not exhilarating enough but it was ok. Too much fluff and I guess it was just good not great but not bad either.
Babyrpett - The chase
I loved it!!!!
Victoria_blue - Awesome book!
Really makes me want to keep reading!
xiaoxihope - Couldn't stop reading!
So good, the whole time I just kept wishing it could be made into a dramatic show. Would totally binge that!
Highlight8468264 - Can’t put it down..!
I honestly hate reading ! I would rather watch the movie than read BUT as soon as I picked this books up and started reading it I could NOT ..once again I could NOT put it down.... I’m obsessed and now I’m going to read all the other ones.
sbsbrinson - Interesting read
It was a bit of a slow start but the book comes together after a a few chapters. This book will appeal to the younger set as the characters are based in college. The romance between Collin and Summer finally comes together and is very sexy and romantic.
kerstinkirby - Loved this!
I loved this. Few spelling errors. But definitely a great read.
Jfrancie - The chase
Excellent story. Funny at times and I stayed up all night to finish. Like able characters with flaws to overcome.
_shagun_ - Great book
Most definitely recommended. This is literally the best written book I’ve come across on ibooks and Summer and Fitz are like the poster couple for debunking stereotypes. Amazing plot, love all the side characters ( specially Brenna) and really appreciate how the whole rape in today’s world and Summer’s feminist side. Women do need to appreciate each other more. Anyways, overall great book and please keep writing more stuff like this.
dkgjghkgghhbtr - I’m in love
NewEarthorBust - 5 stars
Humorous, witty, thoughtful.
jam09240115 - Great story!!
This was such a good read. The storyline was very thought out and the characters were modernized to the point where you could connect with some of the characters. This nice story leaves you at the end of your seat. If you love sappy, romantic, sexy books this is the one for you. You will not regret reading it!
Latanianabovanushaniqua - Love
Absolutely loved it! Read it in a day, I was hooked!
fukurnicknamedude - Summer is a Karen in training
Summer is probably the most annoying main character I have ever read about. If she’s in college please allow her to have the mental capacity of a college student, I feel like I’m reading about a middle schooler and her crush. If I ever encountered a Summer in real life I would have to hold back from punching her in the face because we all know she deserves it.
Sheik18 - Fitz and Summer are relationship goals
First and foremost, I loved how real Summer is. Her internal monologues reflect a lot other young women feel on a day to day basis. I really enjoyed how the author incorporated important topics like inappropriate sexual advances and learning disabilities. It really made the characters have more depth while not bringing the tone of the book down.
I got butterflies throughout the whole book whenever Fitz and Summer interacted. They were such real and deep characters that it’s almost impossible to fall in love with them. I really loved this book and recommend it to everyone that loves funny and well thought out romance books!
pizzuvr - Great series!
This is a great series! Read them all, you won’t regret it!
octawhale - AMAZING
elle kennedy, you never fail me!!! loved this book and can’t wait to read the next one!
kawuha123 - Not my favorite
I love Elle, great author, but having a hard time getting through this one. Why is Summer not with Hunter?? Would have much rather read about Summer and Hunter. Fitz is lame and immature, Summer is cute but also pretty immature. I don’t think I like them together. Also this book felt more scattered and all over the place in general. I had really grown to appreciate the calculated efforts of this author, to tie things together, have it all make sense and be able to predict the characters movements because you almost know them. This is the 6th book of hers that I’ve read. Still a big fan. I want more of Tucker or Dean, yum.
GoaliesGirl725 - Good story. Bad ending
The story is great. But the ending feels a bit rushed to me. I wish there was more to it. A second book?
St3phani3phani3 - Ugh
I’m not sure I can finish this book. I’m about 75% done so I might skim it. The h is terrible. First of all, how did she get into Brown on her own if her grades are nothing to write home about and she doesn’t even know what plagiarism is??? Just not believable. I appreciate that the author is trying to bring attention to learning disabilities but I feel like that’s all the character is. As Fitz said, she’s fluff and surface level. She’s just plain annoying. They make no sense together. Really disappointed in this story.
Nicole Iap. - Fun read
Sweet story, but now I want Hunter’s story <\3
Mrs.DSMonroy - Fantastic
This book was such a fun read! It had just enough drama, sexyness, and funny to keep me wanting more!
MeliVictoria28 - Loved. This. So. Much.
I haven’t read a book this amazing in so long. So worth the read.
AmbreMaurer - Not worth 5$
So cheesy. It’s drags on and on. I kept skipping like 5 pages at a time and realized I wasn’t missing a thing. It’s hard to enjoy the boy when the main character is so annoying.
MiddleEasternPrincess - Not my Favorite
I normally love Elle, but this book was not one of my favorites. I do like the fact that she tied in issues that college students have with learning disabilities but goodness gracious Summer exhausted me. I was waiting for Fitz’s story, and without spoiling the book for anyone, this book made me not like his character as much as I did the glimpses that we previously had of him. I still can’t wait for Brenna’s story!
blueskiestjm - Simply Awesome
One of the best modern romances I’ve read to date. I think she taps into many women’s fantasies easily with this book. I love the characters, the romance, the steamy scenes, and couldn’t put it down from start to finish. Really really really great book!
Nealy07 - The Chase
Just loved loved this book!!!!
Mememe2016 - The Chase
Fitz and Summer are an awesome couple. This book had me laughing so many times at the antics throughout the book. Great book waiting for Brenna’s story, but I definitely want more of Fitz and Summer!!!!
hopelessromanticcc - Can I have a fitzy please?
Loved it! Once I started I couldn’t stop!
Jasminepzk21 - Akh i wish it didn’t end
I read it and i loved the banters and how the story kept going i really loved it.
Sashaerr - Loved this one.
It was so good to go back to Briar University. As the start of a new series, this book had all the same charm as the Off Campus series without relying on past characters to carry the story.
The chemistry between Summer and Fitz was great. The banter, the attraction and sexual tension was spot on. It’s honestly one of the best opposites attract stories I’ve read.
It was absolutely impossible not to love Summer instantly. She was bubbly and sweet and her struggles struck a chord with me on such a deep level. She’s used to being judged on appearance alone but she strives to change people’s mind while staying true to herself. I just adored her.
It didn’t take me long to warm up to Fitzys character at all. The quiet nerd with his love for sports was completely shaken up and caught off guard by Summer. He fought his attraction so hard and in that process pulls some jerk moves, but he completely makes up for it in the long run.
This story was sexy and sweet, it put a smile on my face and stirred excitement for future books. Pretty much everything I enjoy in a NA series.
jweland - Must read... and check out the rest of the series!
I absolutely love this series. Kennedy does not disappoint with The Chase.
Bmw$$ - The chase
I’ve read all the books from the series and this was my least favorite. I was excited about the length of the book but a lot of the contents in the story was the characters talking about their projects in their classes which I skipped through. Still a good read just was not as good as the others.
birdieluvin - A great start to the new series
This book was just as good as the original Briar hockey series! I’m so excited for the next one!
Aurora H (Whoo Gives A Hoot) - Loved
When I discovered that Elle Kennedy's Off-Campus series was getting a spin off, Briar U I found myself leaping in excitement because I was sad when the original series came to an end! Those original four stories captivated my heart and I was ecstatic to see more from this group of friends, along with some new characters!
The Chase was one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 and let me say that Elle Kennedy certainly did not disappoint with the first book in this sure to be epic brand new series that fans of the Briar University universe have been craving. The author has once again given us a story filled with laughs, swoon-worthy moments and of course a ton of sexy times that had even our kindles melting from the heat that radiated off the pages. There was just so much to love about this story and I cannot freaking wait for the next installment.
I think that Summer and Fitz were the perfect couple to introduce this new series to both fans and newcomers because while we got to know both of them in the Off-Campus series, their story together didn't really begin to develop until the start of The Chase. Although this book can be read and enjoyed as a standalone I strongly recommend starting from the very beginning with The Deal because you are just going to fall in love with Elle Kennedy's characters and writing style! Trust me after you have read this story you are going to want to do so anyway!
Heather San - You need this!
Ever since I finished The Goal (the final book in the off campus series), I have been not so patiently waiting for The Chase. You see I fell in love with Elle’s writing during that series and the characters.
I have to say this spin off series does not disappoint so far! The storyline is very interesting. The characters are well developed. But, honestly what I loved most was the dialogue! There is something so fun about reading witty banter between characters, with well placed one liners that make a book really enjoyable.
I cannot wait until February 2019!!!
Bookbruin - Taking A Chance & Finding Your Heart ♥️
I know The Chase is one of the most anticipated reads this year for many people and let me tell you, Elle Kennedy did not disappoint! I loved Summer and Fitzy's story! It had all the things I love about the original Off Campus series - laughs, swoons, heart, emotion, and of course, sexy, sexy times! Briar U is a spin off series and though characters from the Off Campus series do appear, it can be read as a standalone.
Right from the start, I got some Pride & Prejudice vibes from Summer and Fitzy. There's no denying their attraction to each other, but will her pride and his prejudice stand in the way of their happily ever after? There were definitely times when both characters frustrated me with the push and pull, but as their histories are shared, it made a lot of sense why they were reacting and making the decisions that they were. On the surface, they couldn't be more different, but they also challenge and complement each other in many ways. Fitzy and Summer were much more than people perceived them to be and though it was very yin and yang at times, it definitely worked! I loved all the build up and anticipation (though the collateral damage of Hunter did hurt), and I was left with a huge smile on my face as I turned the last page.
One of my favorite things about this book though was Summer's friendship with Brenna. Those two were hilariously loyal and just so much fun! Summer and Brenna's lack of filters created some truly memorable moments and I especially loved their text messages to each other. I can't wait for Brenna's story in The Risk and that teaser excerpt at the end of the book couldn't have been more intriguing! I also was so happy to see little cameos by some of my favorite Briar guys and gals! I honestly will never tire of more Garrett or Tucker (swoon, swoon, swoon) and the little snippets of them in The Chase were perfect! Such an awesome start to this new series!
