That Julie Yip-Williams survived infancy was a miracle. Very touching!. I learned a lot reading this book. I wish I had it before my own dad passed away from Stage IV colon cancer. Although my dad was 77 when diagnosed, he only lived 7 months after that. None the less, no matter what age it is still very difficult for the patient and for all those around that patient. I laughed and I cried cause many things reminded me of symptoms and situations we went through with my dad. To say that I’m not an avid reader is an understatement but I finished this book in 4 days! I really fell in love with it!! This book captivated me from start to finish! Thank you for the honesty! And for this book!!
A must read .... A very powerful book written with passion, strength and a touch of humor. Julie writes not a story but a lesson in life.
The Unwinding of the Miracle. I started this book the day before I had a routine colonoscopy not knowing what the book was about. This story actually held me keep it together through the procedure and another one six days later to remove a large benign growth. A remarkable and inspiring story. RIP, Julie.
Medicine for my soul. This book came to me at such a perfect time. I didn’t even realize I needed it, either. Fortunately, there is no one in my life who is suffering from cancer, but the lessons Julie can teach us all in this book far exceed the limits of only those affected by cancer. I will cherish the lessons I’ve learned from Julie forever. She has been an an inspiration to me.
Not for me. Could only get 8% through this book. I feel for what she’s going through, but this should have been kept between her and her girls who are in the position to appreciate it. It’s like hearing someone else’s family stories - they just don’t mean as much if you’re not in the family. I almost felt obligated to continue reading just to show I’m not a cold hearted monster in the face of her struggles.... but I couldn’t do it.

Julie Yip-Williams (January 6, 1976 – March 19, 2018) was an American lawyer and writer, born Diep Ly Thanh in Vietnam. Early life and education Diep Ly Thanh was born in Tam Kỳ, South Vietnam, the daughter of Diep The Phu (Peter Yip) and Lam Que Anh (Ann Yip). She was blind from congenital cataracts, and a grandmother pressured her parents to find an herbalist to end the baby's life. In 1979, she escaped Vietnam with dozens of family members, in a fishing boat. They landed in Hong Kong as refugees, and moved to California by the end of 1979. She was raised in Monterey Park, California. Her vision was improved with surgery in Los Angeles, but she remained legally blind. Yip earned a bachelor's degree from Williams College in Massachusetts, and a J.D. degree from Harvard Law School. Career Yip worked in corporate law in New York City from 2002.
