I crawled into Ryan Jensen's bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister's bed—her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...

I didn't. I didn't jump out. I didn't get embarrassed.

I relaxed.

And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have.

He became my sanctuary.

Because—four hours earlier—my twin sister killed herself.

AWESOME. Wonderful book. I enjoyed every second of it. The ending of the book had me shook but then it made me really think about the entire book and recall situations and just wow. Definitely recommend reading.

A must read.. I’ve read many books but this one was so special that I’ve dedicated my first review to it. People need to know just how meaningful and captivating this read is. As a recent high school student I can say with certainty that the actions and thoughts portrayed in this story aren’t glorified or over the top. This book correctly depicts the real issues that are going on with many teens today. I can understand when Mackenzie felt she was going mad with grief because I’ve felt that same pain before. This book moved me to tears and had me truly reflecting on my life. There have been many times when life’s struggles feel like they are getting the best of me but like her I remember the people that love and care for me. Ryan’s Bed was one of the most honest and memorable books I’ve ever read. It wasn’t just a quick read but a lesson all on its own. Thank you Tijan for creating a book that allows me to see that I’m not alone.

This one will seriously touch you.. There’s something so different about this book, It’s real, it’s agonizing, it’s beautiful, most of all it makes you think, like really think, and feel, really feel. My mind hasn’t been able to move beyond the last chapter. The whole book it seemed to be leading to it, you thought you knew, sensed something, but no matter what it smacks you in the face. It makes you reanalyze and you're almost already flipping back to the first page to start it all over again. Read it with a new perspective. It’s worth every second you spend flying thru this incredible book, the main character Mackenzie grabs you, pulls you in, her story and circumstance, the words they grab you attach to your heart and they don’t leave. The love story and the healing that goes with the story line are great but its about so much more than just the blooming love. It’s about grief, loss, healing, coping, finding yourself and accepting your darkest secrets. Read this book. It’s been a long time since a book touched me this much.

Wow. This book was heart wrenching, and so so amazing. It had me laughing, it had me crying, it’s seriously so worth the read. Tijan is one of my favorite authors and this book blew me away.

Kaitlyn.burrows

Sooo good. I’m in awe! This book was so good; I was captured from the beginning. With the characters and storyline, I couldn’t stop reading; it was just so interesting and captivating. The end was so surprising and shocking. I still can’t believe it. Woah. Anyway, I would recommended this book to anyone because I promise you’ll enjoy it and love it, just as much as I have!

Let's get down to business

In awe. I am in complete awe of this book. Read it cover to cover in a matter of hours because I couldn’t put it down! I love books with ending that leaves me breathless and this one did just that. <3

Syr-girl

A powerful story!. Titan, you are truly a gifted writer and story teller! But I hope you reconsider and finish this story. This book was worth the five star rating, regardless of the cliffhanger.

Mikayla Koski

Amazing. I read this whole book in one day. I couldn’t put it down. The end made me wanting more. Not because it was a bad writing, but because I had fallen in love with Mac. I wanted to continue on her journey. Such an emotional journey this book took us on and I hate that it’s over

Tdog12321

Weird Writing. This book definitely has a very mature subject but it’s written very childishly. This girls twin sister just died and the love interest is all like “I know you’re severely depressed right now but you’re so hot aha ha”. (Not an actual quote but you get the gist) I understand that the other characters have no idea what the main character is going through, but still that’s a little unnecessary. Also in one part of the book the main character is trying to leave a party because she can’t handle being in a social area, but then when it’s brought up that people are going to a college party after she’s all down for it. Like she just forgot she couldn’t handle this small party but definitely can handle a college party in the span of 10 minutes. Just a little inconsistent. In summary it’s a good plot but bad execution.

Omg Hay Day!

Amazing!. I literally could not stop reading!

Hard to swallow.... Ryan’s Bed was the hardest book of Tijans for me to read. When you know someone that’s committed suicide, it feels like that’s all you start hearing about or reading about. A friend from my childhood committed suicide last November. And the grief that followed was intense. This book made me think about her the entire time. And as I was reading it, I heard that my cousin is having to go to a funeral for a 12 year old boy in her class, who had just took his own life. There was a scene in the book where Mackenzie talks to Willow, and willow says “If I could take it back,” and then she leaves. I sobbed at that scene, and the other scenes where she said she was sorry and regrets it. And it made me wonder if everyone else that committed suicide, thought that right before they passed away. This book made my heart hurt even more, and I’m currently sobbing while typing this. While some of Tijans other books will always be my favorite, this one is on a different scale. I can’t explain in words why because there aren’t any that do it justice. I honestly kept forgetting that Ryan’s Bed was a Tijan book. Mackenzie just felt different to me, and not in a bad way. But in a mature way. In a way that her emotion are the same emotions that most of us all feel when we lose the one we care about. She felt real, and raw at the same time. There are some books in this world that are for entertainment but at the same time they can teach you some of the most important lessons. This was one of those books. Like being kind to one another, really listen to what someone is telling you, and validate what they said. Tell them you love them, even if it was one second ago. Say it every time it pops into your head. Life is beautiful yet fleeting and this book portrayed that. It portrayed the ugliest parts of suicide and what happens to those that are left behind by the one that took their life.

Bridge A H

Beautiful, Tragic Story. The cover had me curious. It portrayed a book full of emotion and lured me in to find out what happened to this girl to lead to her body language in the cover photograph. When I started reading, I was pulled in by the allure of mystery. This book is truly amazing at hooking the reader with curiosity. I was constantly wondering what I didn’t know by the way it was written. This book is certainly intriguing and disturbing to me as a reader. I don’t think I could say that it alienated, irritated, or frightened me. Maybe some irritation with the way that high school aged girls sometimes act. This book is full of feels and is sure to draw other readers in from the beginning much like me. This story was told very well. It is raw emotion. I am certain it would be very difficult to write a book on this subject matter and accomplish the feat of writing the situation with the perfect balance. As an individual with a rare cancer and who will never know the words NED (no evidence of disease), I struggle with my imminent death and those close to me know I am quite blunt regarding the subject of my cancer and my death. While I know my situation is completely different than the situation in the book, I tell you this to say that I loved how the main character, Mackenzie, copes with her difficult situation and find myself relating to her internal sarcasm and blunt banter with her sister. I have not read other books by Tijan, but I will be putting them on my to be read. I am impressed with Tijan’s writing style and ability to write about difficult situations. I think Amy can speak more to the difference between this book and others written by Tijan, as she was the one who suggested we review this book. So many of my questions for the author were addressed in the “Dear Reader” section at the close of the book. There are so many beautiful answers to my questions there and it leaves me with only one question left to ask in relation to this book. The power of perspective is so intense and completely changes a story. Another character could tell this story and elicit completely different feelings from readers. If you had to choose a different character perspective to tell this story from who would you choose and why? I can say with confidence in my ignorance, I did not see the ending coming. This book kept my interest throughout, as I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. There was something lurking around the corner and I could not have prepared for it. I enjoy reading books without a pretty wrapped package where everything works out perfectly and the ending has a bow slapped on it. The ending was shocking for me and it didn’t make me feel like it was wrapped up neatly. I still had so many questions, but will not go forward agonizing over the unanswered questions at the back of my mind. There was some resolution in at least having the information I did by the end of the book and many of the questions I had throughout were answered, even if I was left with more.

Soccerkaty

OMG so good. I don’t know why this book is in the erotica section, but holy crow this was so good. The writing and editing are on point. The story was amazing and the end! Hell yes! I love a good ending!

AlexJaden

Will make you feel all of the feels. Every emotion the author feels, you can feel. You feel her grief, her happiness, her emergence from depression, everything. Easily one of the best stand alone novels i have read.

AbkJames

Awesome story.. Loved this book! And the little twist in her last counseling session really shocked me

Brandikins714

I’m still shook.. Just, wow. Such an amazing book.

Rachello0

LOVEEE. I cried so many times

JordannnTaylorrr15

Ryan’s Bed. This was an amazing read! Loved every minute of it

Deniadiaz

Love love love this. As always Tijan has written a wonderful book that has shocked me to the core. The ending of the book was a surprise.

Cascio2043

Amazing!!. Been a long time sense I have found a author that I love !!

Sungis

Different. This book was different than what I have ever read. Overall I liked the book, but I don’t like the ending. This is just my opinion, there can be other people that really like it. It’s just not me. I can see why she chose that ending but during the whole book I just thought something was off. It also goes to show that everyone heals differently and that there are different levels and everyone goes through them differently as well. Overall I liked the book. It was well written and you’ll just have to find out for yourself to see if you like it or not.

KJBae

Beyond words. Ryan’s Bed is one of Tijan’s best. It is a great story that will take you high and low.

CarmenDeliaSolorzano@55875140

⭐️. I wanna say this before I say anything else. When an author is using her writing and her characters to express serious matters like suicide or Depression (both serious topics) there should always be a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. Also, don’t describe serious topics as a beautiful fairytale because though it’s a beautiful thing, it’s also very misleading and misinformed which is why so many people make assumptions about these serious topics. There should always be light shed on some hard truths about serious topics like suicide and someone whose battling Depression. The reason why I gave this book a five star rating is because Tijan is so talented with her writing that in her storylines, especially this book, she always makes me wanna jump in her stories and help these amazing characters she creates. And if a writer can get you that worked up like that, that goes to show you how good she or he is at writing. And I love this book for that. This book definitely had me all worked up and wanting to fight for the main character 💕

Gabriella7654

I Loved it.. This book has expressed so many different emotions but the most important one of all is grief. This book was written very well but when I got to the end it felt like time stopped and the only thing moving was my own heartbeat... I was completely moved by this story and I definitely recommend it to ANYONE and EVERYONE! But please if you are depressed or feeling down, talk to someone and you’ll find help! Love, Gabriella

Jesslifts

I’ve never. I have never written a book review. After this, I probably never will again. I want the author to know that this book changed me too. My heart hurt for Mackenzie. Thank you for allowing her to find her voice and fight for her family. The last line in this book broke me. I’ve read a lot of your books, but this one has by far been the best. Amazing!! This is a book I wish I could forget so I can feel these emotions all over again. Beautiful writing. Just beautiful.

His BooBoo

I’m hooked!!. This was the first book I’ve read by Tijan. This book got me wanting to read it after I read a teaser. This book is amazing. The way Tijan wrote this made you feel all the emotions Mackenzie was feeling. It makes you feel like you are her. Have tissues ready because you’ll need.

Mt_chick

Incredible. This book tore at my heart! Such an amazing story & so beautifully written.

Hnnhkhn

I’m in tears. This book was a game changer. I’ve never had a book affect me so much, its heart wrenching and an emotional roller coaster. I cried, laughed and felt everything the characters were expressing. Tijan did an amazing job on this book.

U'i Wahine

I love Tijan!!. I'm about to start reading this book and without a doubt I already know I'll love it.!!

Hello, darling

Heartbreaking, but hopeful. This book showed the pain and suffering of loss, but the hope of a life to still be lived. Definitely a good read.

RascalPascal

Loss for words. This book hits such a sensitive topic that is so very real to so many people. I can’t even find the words to describe how amazing this book is and how the author does a fantastic job talking about the sensitive topic. I read this book in much less than a day and it is my new favorite book ever. I don’t normally leave reviews, i just read other peoples… but i had to leave one for this book. I don’t think you could find the exact words to throughly describe just how captivating this book truly is. If you are thinking about reading it, DO IT IMMEDIATELY! It will be soooo worth your time!

Rsands87

OMG. Reading this book took me on a tailspin. I cried with her, I laughed with her, and I felt the destruction that she tried not to cause. She experiences a loss that many people wouldn’t have been able to come back from. And she mentally checks out while all these different things are going on around her to destroy her. And in the midst of her grieving she meets this guy who understands the pain she has been feeling. He understands it better than she thinks and he is the one that she opens up to. And of course he just has to be popular so add in the mean girl and it sounds like a typical high school drama. But this book is so much more than typical. It will break your heart and then in the end you will be put back whole. This book is tragic, love, death, romance, and acceptance all in one. You will literally feel where she is coming from with every choice that she makes. And you will understand that although she’s in high school she is grieving and she is looking for acceptance. If i could rate this book higher than a 5 I would because it was that powerfully good.

EHuffines

My heart. Just wow. Thus book was so amazing and so emotional. It's not a suspenseful book but it is definitely a book you never want to put down. I cannot imagine what Mackenzie is going through and this really just takes you through the ugly stages of grief. It's so beautifully written, Tijan did an amazing job.

Anicolegm

Incredible read!. This book was so good that I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one day. I’ve never read a more relatable book before! Ryan’s Bed invoked so many emotions ranging from heartbreak to passion and love. Mac’s story, especially the ending, is thought provoking and engaging. It was written so well and with so much care put into the storyline.

Heyheybella

Amazing. I loved this book. So real and emotional.

Tenayaquin

Spoiler kinda. Love all of Tijan books... this one is really makes you think and what's goes on in a teenagers life. They all won't tell you how they feel and what's going but you have notices the slight changes that goes on in your friends, relatives, children, etc. life. Definitely going to reread cause the ending just blew me away and I sort of had a feeling that it was to Willow and Mackenzie story I really hope there's a sequel or even a novella but really a squeal. ❤️❤️ this will definitely stay with me after a couple of days and I'm definitely buying the paperback as well!

KareenaTeaney

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Definitely did NOT expect the ending and it gets me every single time!

Nkh310

Waited. I’ve had this book for months. I don’t know what made me wait so long but I waited. It only took me a couple of hours to read this but it will stay with me. I needed to read these words. Thank you.

Duncoff

Sweet. This book is so complex. I’d read a sequel to this book. It was great. And I think I’ll read it again. I loved Ryan and Mackenzie’s relationship!

Harder88

Whoa. I don’t usually leave book reviews, I read others, but I feel this needs to be said. This book is legit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read it in one day, while working, and is definitely a book I will be rereading. While there were parts that I thought I couldn’t read on, (selfishly, because I didn’t want something sad to happen, which didn’t btw)I’m so glad I did!! That ending-mind. Blowing! I can’t wait to read more from Tijan!!!

Jojobeaz

Loved it!. I’m a big fan of all Tijans work and this one definitely didn’t disappoint!!! Loved it!

WickedLovely27

One of her best!. I’ve read almost all of Tijan’s books. I started with the Fallen Crest series and have been hooked ever since. She never fails to keep me reading until the early hours of the morning! This one was no exception, and is now probably my favorite book by her. As others mentioned, the end will bring you chills. I loved it! Definitely a must read!

B.Dunc

Honest and unpaid. I think about this book a lot. I think it is one of the best this author has written (that I’ve read so far). Honest and an excellent insight into grief, and depression in YA. The teenage girl conflicted was wayyyy more intense than anything I ever witnessed or experienced or even heard of, even as a teenage girl. BUT I think the nail is hit on the head with the level of drama teenagers can inflict. Perfect example of “We can write teenagers how we want them to be or how they are”. YA’s grieve. YA’s have adult problems, that they often handle like the children they are growing up from. Anyway. LOVED this book. It touched my heart in such a way that I think about it 6 months later. It moved my soul in such a way that I recommend it to people I know who have struggled with the same things I have, the same things talked about in this book. And it poke to me so honestly that I finished it in one sitting.

Jmsz.1321

Amazing Read. That book was amazing. I read it in one sitting, as I do for many of Tijan’s books not because they lack content or length but because I’m instantly enthralled. The characters were great and it was very well developed. A few unrealistic aspects in regards to a few things in the book in my opinion but nothing worth focusing on. I know it’s listed as a stand-alone but I hope there are more to come. I loved this book as much as I loved my favorites from the Fallen Crest series.

KaraT13

Amazing. I saw an ad for this book on Facebook and was hooked by the two lines with it. I bought it and started reading immediately. I fell in love with the characters and the way it was written! **SPOILER** Totally didn’t see the ending coming at ALL

Love_Activist

F*ck’n Wow. What a ending and I did go back and read it again afterwards. It definitely made me think & the end definitely shred my soul. I see why Tijan had a hard time writing it and I’m glad she published it.

LJM032611

In awe!!!. I’m just in awe right now. I will be dreaming about this book. I love and hate the ending. Love because I have never read a book that was so raw and real and hate because I have so many unanswered questions! Truly amazing work! Thank you.

Evie and vivia

Love it. This is now one of my favorite books that I will go back and reread several times. I started this book after seeing it several times and thinking to myself, “I don’t want to buy it, but do I?”. After a month I bought it and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I understand how Mackenzie feels and that’s what made me love this story so much. Tijan is such an amazing author and this book was one of her best.

Gidjdhdjsj

Oh my gosh.. The most AMAZING book I’ve ever read. Tons of plot twists. Oh my gosh.

Nic0le Zh0u

Good book. This was a pretty good book and I thought the way that the author wrote the ending was unexpected in my opinion. I was so surprised about the ending but I really enjoyed it!

One thing. I love Tijan books. Can’t put them down. I have one major issue with this book. Warcraft. Please do some research before you just randomly name a popular game, cause some of your readers or their friends might play that game. 1. It never came out on console. 2. It is not a racing game. You could have named any racing game if you were going to mention cars and controllers. You even could have said Final Fantasy if you didn’t mention those things. That game can be played on console. Warcraft is a base building and defence game. WoW is a fantasy MMO in which there isn’t much racing, but lots of pvp and monster killing. Other than this, I am enjoying the book. Can you please make some edits to this aspect of your Ryan’s Bed as it is really bringing down the enjoyment factor because it feels like lazy writing.

Marcia❤️

Ryan’s bed. It was an amazing book ... couldn’t put it down .. I had to finish it to see what was next.

JessiCW1987

Grief. Wow, this was a heavy hard book. Well written, well put together and meaningful. I felt these characters, felt her grief and her road to recovery through grief. It brought me tears. I was angry at parts and others I smiled. Ryan- what a great guy. The epilogue- what a twist. I would love to see how her family did in say 5 years...and see how Mackenzie and Ryan were then too. Have tissues for this book. An emotional rollercoaster.

MalMac75

Ryan’s Bed. One of those books that needs more than 5 stars. A hard topic to think about but an important one. I’m from a family wounded by suicide. It’s not something that should be swept under the rug. It should be discussed. Not ignored or pushed aside. Maybe in that it will help someone else. This was a well written story. An eye opener for some I hope!

F. Skoda

Wow. Okay. So I love this author and but I do find that her books are either hit or miss. I thought my all time favourite was Fallen Crest High, even though there were a couple things I didn’t like. This book was like Tijan mind-read what I didn’t like about FCH and made Ryan’s Bed into everything I’ve ever wanted. I honestly can’t describe how amazing this book is. Would I re-read it? Absofookinlutely Would I recommend? ^ If you don’t read this you’re missing out on amazingness. Enough said.

Dorina0668

Ryan’s bed. I cried like a baby! OMG this book will stay with me for a long time , if not forever! A must read!

Lexiiii1990

Wow. I just can’t deal. A must read !!

!jetstar!

Omg !. Loved this book, couldn’t put it down

Hattyj36789

Not Tijan’s Best. I was fully captivated after the first few pages BUT I felt the story unnecessarily dragged on and although the main character was very well-developed, other characters were lacking. I didn’t end up finishing the last hundred pages.

Dels2004

Couldn’t put it down. Wow. Just wow. Read over two solid days- this is the best book I have read this year.

Jodi1991

amazing. Another emotional heart reaching book that I couldn’t put Down tijan you have done it again

Alicar37

Wow what a book.. I have to say this is one epic book. It wasn’t how I expected it to be. But I was not disappointed at all. It has a very sensitive subject base but it’s definitely one that I think you should gift to everyone. I will not give away the story because you really need to read it and make your own decisions about Ryan’s Bed. Tijan this is an awesome book with wonderful writing, you should be very proud.

Victster76

It was ok. Not my most favourite tijan book but not terrible

Perfectread

Highly Recommend to Read this book!. I never leave reviews. But this book was amazing! I read it in a day!! Highly recommend!!!

Skye2204

Well worth the read!. What a great story. Thinking back, there wasn’t anything particular in the story that made me want to see how it unfolded, it didn’t have the suspense or the “edge of your seat” factor. Somehow it still had me captivated and wanting to finish the book. Perhaps it was the way the story took hold of my heart, I felt Mac’s emotions. I cried with her. It’s one of those books that change you. It makes you think a little different. I know there will be a larger element of heartache if I meet someone who has lost a loved one to suicide. I have more understanding on how this would impact the people left behind. The ending left me shocked and heartbroken and happy all that the same time. Thank you for this great story Tijan.

Lousiemarchmont

beautifully written. Unpredictable i just loved this book and read it in one day

Jigsygal

Powerful. The messages in this book are powerful and are somethings that are so so important to be spoken about. Not to glorify suicide but really start to tackle the effects of it on those left behind. TIjan tackles lots of issues including (but not limited to) grief and loss, family relationships and break downs , anger , despair ,bullying , the pressure on teens in schools and just socially as well But also friendship, love , growth , healing and most of all HOPE . Thank you Tijan for finishing and publishing this book . It was touching and captivating and beautifully written .

Fashionably yours

Amazing. Amazing story! Highly recommended

Taya lingard

Ryan’s bed. Loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hclark85

It was ok.... Really lacked a climax and gripping plot. Plenty of teenage angst though.

Claire841999

Chloe~Bibliophile90

WOW!!!. What can I say! This book has changed my life! I’m still crying as I write this review. Mackenzie’s story brought out so many emotions in such a way that will stay with me forever. It is a must read but be warned your heart will go through the works and have a box of tissues handy. Tijan thank you for An amazing read, my heart is still trying to catch up with all the emotions and feels.

Kaylee-jean x

The ending !!!!. The ending is everything. I just know this book will sit with me forever. If you’re thinking about reading this book, just do it ! And stick through it until the end because it hits. Thank you Tijan ❤️

Teagie92

Another Magnificent Book by Tijan!. I have never had a book fail me by Tijan and she has hit out of the park with this book again! I finished the book about 3 hours ago and I can’t stop thinking about it. Would highly recommend it everyone I know, you won’t be disappointed!

Bex_evs

Emotional and Raw. I am a huge fan on Tijan & this book does not disappoint. I’ve never read a book like this, it was unbelievably raw with emotion and incredible and will sit with me for a long time.

Dans2.08

Emotional and Beautiful. Loved it! Incredible story that I could not put down. Tijan never has boring bits to her stories!

Brocharem

THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ!!. While the general theme of this book may be difficult for some people to read, I think this book is definitely worth your time. It is so delicately written and kept me hooked from the first page to the last needing to know that it was all going to work out. I was invested and felt a range of emotions while reading this book, but it wasn’t until I read the last sentence that it all fit together and I cried. It was amazing! It was as I I was feeling the emotion of the character as that sentence was spoken. I LOVED this book and the message it provides. I will be making my teenage daughters read it too as I think it can give them some valuable insight into this very sensitive topic.

Sara-bella21

I want more. Only downfall to this book is that ended ! This writer draws you in and the story builds in your mind.

Lifghbukdv

Trash. The story had not plot and was just nonsensical angst. The storyline made little sense and the characters weren’t developed and did not develop. It was just generally not a good book and i’m sad to have wasted money on it.

Jodielee😄

Wow. I love this book it is the best I’ve read in 6 months. This book is a must read

Indibum123

Possibly the best book I’ve ever read. Unbelievably thought provoking and powerful. It wasn’t one I could binge read, it was the kind of book that you need to take your time with. Would 100% recommend this, it tackles sensitive issues in a very well written and well thought out way. One of my favourite authors already, but this book has been my favourite so far. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I enjoyed the read, because it isn’t that kind of story, but more that I’m so glad I did read it and like to think that I have maybe learned from it too.

Cheekypee

Brilliant read. This book blew my high expectations out of the water. I absolutely loved it. Last night I read 40% and this morning I couldn’t function until I’d finished it. Mackenzie finds herself in Ryan’s bed a few hours after her sister has committed suicide. Her whole life has been torn apart and the only place she can be is in Ryan’s bed. Mac goes through so much agony in this story that its heart breaking. Just when I think she’s gonna get a break another curve ball is thrown at her. Ryan is the popular guy but he has his own battles. These two are perfect together. That ending! Totally unexpected. Reading this makes me want to read so much more from Tijan. She truly is in a league of her own and I recommend everyone reads at least one book by her. I’m looking forward to reading more from Tijan.

Sammy scs

Incredible. Loved this book and so glad that it was finished. Would love another one to finish her story though. Written so well and loved the fact that Willow and Ryan had a voice/story as well. Will definitely read this book again.

Shyann.1.2

I’ve read this countless times. I could read this book a 100 times and still cry every time. There is real, raw emotions written in these pages about a beautiful heartbreaking story. Mental health is often misunderstood and people find it too hard to talk about sometimes but this book gives you an insight of just how one person might be feeling dealing with a loss and try to cope with every day life.

The Reality of Those Left Behind. There are a couple of reasons why I didn’t hesitate to request an ARC for Tijan’s newest release, Ryan’s Bed, even though I knew it would be a difficult read for me. The subject matter is apt due to what’s happening with the youth of today, and because I’m a high school teacher, I have firsthand experience with what a teenage suicide does to those who s/he leaves behind. In my 18 years of teaching, there have been several students’ deaths in my tenure, but out of all of them, there are two individuals who took their own lives who I was close to and had to witness as well as endure what these two young men’s deaths did to their friends, their parents, and their peers. I don’t think there is anything more difficult in my profession than feeling helpless as students you have grown to care for are left with a mountain of unanswered questions and overwhelming grief because they wished they could have prevented it from happening. I knew, before I even started Mackenzie’s story, that it would be an emotionally driven story line, not so much angst, but an abundance of over-the-top teenage feelings that none of them would know what to do with…how to channel the pain and anger…how to move forward when everything stopped being what they had grown to expect from their lives when the news was delivered. While this is wholeheartedly Mackenzie’s journey…she’s not alone in her conflicted feelings or the numbness that seems to consume her every minute of every day, except, perhaps, when she’s in Ryan’s bed. Mackenzie’s experiences are ones that readers who have dealt with similar situations can relate to, and while some readers might find her reactions and actions as exaggerated and a bit unrealistic, they would do well to remember what it was like to be a teenage girl and how everything went from one extreme to the next…there was never a middle ground, especially for the things that truly mattered…or at least the ones they thought mattered the most. Ryan’s Bed is not so much a coming of age story; it’s more Mackenzie’s journey through the stages of grief and how she handles each one and those who try to help her as she stutters, stalls, and stops moving forward in hopes that her present reality is nothing but her worst nightmare. There is no right or wrong reaction to a tragedy of this kind and the lessons from such an occurrence won’t be learned for quite some time, so because readers are experiencing Ryan’s Bed only four hours after Mackenzie’s twin sister committed suicide, the extreme rawness and extraordinary feelings of anguish are apt and speak to the mind frame that Mackenzie is in as she tries to cope with a loss that no one should have to endure. Tijan’s title choice is an interesting one, at least in my opinion, because while Ryan Jensen plays a pivotal role in Mackenzie’s story, he’s not necessarily the hero nor is he Mackenzie’s focus as the book continues. Don’t get me wrong, Ryan is essential in helping her work herself out of the darkness that consumes her and what develops between them is something that she uses as a lifeline. He’s her anchor when she feels like drowning and he’s her mender when she doesn’t think the broken pieces of her heart and soul can be repaired, but the first steps of healing and making herself somewhat whole again has to come from within. Mackenzie has to be able to save herself before anyone else can help her along. Ryan’s bed is a safe haven for Mackenzie; it’s the place she can go to rest her mind and take enough calming breaths to make it through each day and while those things seem insurmountable at the beginning, it’s quite inspiring to witness her fight through the hellish ordeal she finds herself in due to someone else’s choices. Tijan takes the sensitive issue of suicide and speaks for the survivors…speaks for the people left behind, and as she gives them a voice, she works hard to provide a realistic experience, which she definitely accomplishes and while some readers might be turned off by how over the top they feel some situations were handled or how some reactions were portrayed, I can honestly say that because I witness how the teenage mind works day in and day out in a school setting, no one can say what depictions are real or fabricated because every single teenager reacts differently regardless of the situation. Tijan definitely did Mackenzie’s story justice and perhaps in doing so allowed young adults to cope within the pages and the words of Ryan’s Bed. 4.5 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

Ryan's Bed. The raw honesty and sincerity of this story has the power of blocking out everything else. It is both necessary and healing.

Horny, hungry, and hot

READ IT!. I've been reading all genres of books for over 10 years and I've never written a review. This won't really even be a review either but I have never felt what I felt at the end of this book. My whole body became paralyzed. I felt every emotion you can think run through my whole body and make me stop for a minute and just be in ahh. Everyone should read this book whether you are a reader or not. And read it again and again. Thank you this wonderful novel. I truly enjoyed it.

Makes your soul ache ❤️. Amazing!! I loved it. It touched something inside. I couldn’t but the book down and the hours melted away as i lost myself in the book. Makenzie survives one of the greatest losses anyone can go through. She’s traumatized to be blunt. When she ends up in Ryan’s bed and actually finds a sliver of escape/peace, she holds on. She adapts and changes in ways many of us may or may not relate losing someone, but shes lost an actual part of herself which makes it a million times worse. She tries as she might to piece herself back together. Ryan is just a boy that is there when Makenzie was at her worst and he sees something in her that he understands. The story twists and turns , ups and down, and you’ll cry and laugh. The endings are always the best with Tijan. I really wish it could have been a longer book. I wish their will be a part 2. Thats the case when a book touches you like this. Enjoy!
