A much needed experience. As a multiracial human, reading this book gave me hope. There were moments that were even hard for myself to read, but the lessons were far too powerful to not push through through the discomfort. Not only has this book opened conversation and sparked hope in myself, but in the people that I surround myself with. This book has been used as a tool to mend relationships through education, recognition and accountability. I’m grateful this book exists and I look forward to more from this author.

buuullll craaaaaap. i haven read this book, and i don’t need to. i saw a person writing a review talking about why white people should feel guilty, and it’s because of hundreds of YEARS of slavery. so here’s what i have to say: 1.) slavery in the americas didn’t last hundreds of years. 2.) your also saying that slavery is still a thing today? i don’t know about you, but when i look in farms and other places i don’t see black people working with chains on, i don’t see black people being enslaved. and if you do, i suggest you get some glasses, then you’ll realize it’s an 80 years old white guy working harder than you are. another thing i want to say is that i’ve heard people saying that white people will never understand what it’s like be black. i beg to differ, because last time i checked, we were all human right? we all have fingers? hands? toes? feet? eyes, mouth, a heart, lungs, and in most cases, brains? what’s different than your experience than my than what you CHOOSE to do? i grew up with to large clothes, i grew up in a poor family, i grew up and was bullied. did i let that stop me? no. did a lot of other people, white and black, let that stop them? yes. and there’s the difference. it’s mindset is what it is. if you think “oh darn, i’m black so i can’t do a bunch of stuff,” that’s what your gonna do right? your not gonna try and do stuff because you’ve been telling yourself your whole life your limited by your skin color. but if you say, “hey, i’m black, but what does that matter? hey, i’m not the richest man alive, but what does that matter? i can be.” then you’ll actually try! the same goes for white people too. the color of your skin isn’t what stops you, it’s the state of your mind that does. and one more thing: the only walls that separate are the walls that we put up, which means that they weren’t there before. that also means THEY CAN COME DOWN. the only thing that stops us is ourselves. luck, or skin color, or anything else has nothing to do with it.

This author is in it for the money.. What a load of crap. Don’t waste your money.

Required reading for whites. For white propel who consider themselves allies, or people who are interested in becoming allies by educating themselves of racism, racial relations, and how it affects people of color, this is the book for you.

Thoughtless trash.. Ignoring that this book is simply flat-out racist, I really dispose of the idea that if white people disagree with you they’re fragile. Now, this may go right over your sheltered little heads, but some people don’t actually believe in systemic racism. Completely ignoring their ideas and calling them “fragile” really shows that you don’t know what you’re talking about. You people will stereotype/make fun of republicans all day long, but the second one of us tries to have an argument, you turn your backs. They’re fragile, they’re uneducated, they’re xyz. It’s a cope.

If you’re white read this. Every white person in America should read this book. Maybe then we have a chance to dismantle white privilege even just a little bit. I also love that this book was written by a white person, because they will never understand what it’s like to be black but they are willing to be an ally well enough to write a book. Signed, a woke white person Ps I am reading reviews were people are comparing the author to Hitler and saying that this book is crap... my response would be that it must be very hard as a racist white people to read this book and come to terms with what is actually going on within America and themselves so much so they felt the need to write a review and call the author racist. It’s such a sad state to be in and those people more than anyone need to read this book with an open heart and open mind. The author is unbiased and neutral if anything and stating facts/data as a professional.

White Fragility. This book relates the sentiments of a person who sees reality as shades of fault with other people for her personal perceptions of reality. The author claims credibility through academic credentials but, if such credentials do exist, they have been sadly narrow in scope and have endowed the author with but a very adjective concept of reality. It’s a shame; a shame because on the flare-up of racial tensions in the U. S. in the fall of 2020 it is my understanding that this book’s shallowness was read and, perhaps influenced, many people. I rated it four stars for being published at the right time to gain traction from a momentary rising tied of heated national emotion. The publisher actually deserves a five-star for the timing. I also gave it a four-star because, in spite of the author’s circumscribed view of the world of human interaction I believe she truly believed what she wrote. I simply hope she will mentally and emotionally grow enough to work positively over the coming years to help bridge the divides she describes so narrowly in White Fragility.

Left-wing equivalent to Mein Kampf. This is not dismantling racism, it’s promoting it. Why can’t people wake up to this?

Required Reading for all White People. There’s a lot of cognitive dissonance involved in the reading because it requires us, as white people, to acknowledge the myriad ways in which racism, and our racist society, benefits us. It is only through deep analysis and confronting our flaws that we become better allies, and less of a threat to black people. Thank you, Robin DiAngelo, for this important book.

Cashing in on Race.. Another White person cashing in on race. What’s the chances that this woman knows anything about the African American experience, but she does understand CASH.

Your fragility shows. I wasn’t going to write a review until I read all of the butt hurt white fragile reviews. This is exactly the attitude the author is trying to help her readers examine and unhinge. I have a feeling that many of the negative reviews are from people who just read the title and felt offended. This book and more like it are a good place to start but only if you actually READ the book and as you begin to feel offended, recognize that is your white fragility. It’s okay.

Horrible. Stupid nonsense

Turning point, NOT white hate. In all honesty, when I started an antiracist book club, this was the book I wanted to read the least. It sounded too polarizing to me. It sounded like white hate to me. But my friends voted on this one. It was not an easy read. But I am very glad I did it. I love how the author gives us the tools to talk about racism comfortably. How else can we eradicate racism if we cannot talk about it logically? Once I passed the turning point and realized that calling out racism does not equal white hate, then I realized this book is not white hate at all. In theory, this book gave me tools to be less polarizing. (Not always in practice lol! I’m still practicing) I highly recommend doing it as a book club. It was very beneficial to be able to talk about it over the course of a month with my white friends. It really solidified many of the principles that were talked about in the book and made them habit.

An Utter Remarkable Racist Read. I’ve never read something as radically racist in modern reads than what I’ve read in this book. Do yourself a favor and avoid this atrocity.

Black Fragility. Call a black person a racial slur, they'll scream and try to fight you. Call a white person a racist term and they shrug or laugh at you. We need to confront the fragility of the Black community. Why do so few black men want to confront the issue of fatherlessness? That's very fragile of them. In all seriousness, though, I think the author needs to reconsider the fact that a white person can disagree with an assertion made about racism in this country, while not being inherently defensive/fragile about it.

Written like a thorough discussion. DiAngelo writes like she has had “the talk” with white people about their unexamined racial bias thousands of times and this is her long-form response. Anyone familiar with campaign work or door to door sales is familiar with having a “dialogue tree” of answers for several common reactions to your “ask” and obviously DiAngelo has enough for a book! This is an excellent introduction to Anti-Racism from a personal improvement perspective.

The art of the Lie. A pile of racist feces. This book is unAmerican, racially divisive, race hustling, and white liberals propaganda. This book should be used in one’s fireplace.

Extremely racist book!. This is under the “dismantle racism” section yet it’s an EXTREMELY racist book written by an admitted racist!

C- on concept but some decent practical tips. Like so many left leaning people talking about this subject, she brings too much politics into it even though she professes to offer a social solution. Also, you kind of get a vibe from this book that she has lots of failures in trying to teach white people about diversity and finally concluded it’s not her fault at all, but her subject’s fault for being so fragile. If you can sift through the flawed assumptions, soulless rejection of individuality and unconvincing distinction between “fragility” from plain old defensiveness and obstinance, you can find some practical tips for group discussions at work on this topic.

Author is right. To everyone calling the author racist....THE BOOK WAS WRITTEN ABOUT YOU! TAKE THIS INTO ACCOUNT AND LEARN FROM IT! DO BETTER WHITE PEOPLE!

This is why you can’t succeed. Blaming white people for your lease in life will not make you happy or successful. Give it a rest. You cried wolf too many times. People are “racism”d out. Get a job, have a family, keep it together. Stop having 27 kids with 24 different women. Black men need to step up and be men, not thugs.

Terrible Book. Reverse racism

This is an attack on white people. Why are we supposed to “generalize” white people? They can’t control their skin color any more than a black person can. As a multiracial person I would commend you to look past this book and see that skin color is melanin, something outside of your control.

Laughable logic. Circular reasoning that’s extremely light on truth. One line that stuck out was when DiAngelo stated that “white, liberal, intellectual, coastal progressives are the most bigoted, the most harmful, the greatest threat to racial equality.” That sounded spot on….but the rest was just whiny, fact free rhetoric designed to wear like a hair shirt for racist liberals who would rather point fingers at the right rather than own their own depravity.

Textbookish. Heavy at times,good read

Many claims, zero evidence. It’s truthfully been difficult getting through this book. The arguments are not really arguments at all. There’s no structure, thesis, or evidence to back up assertions. Every chapter is just claim after claim after claim. A compilation of quotes from other authors, glued together with more claims. Cannot dissuade you enough from reading it.

There is such thing as racism. There is such thing as racism, but we don’t have it now. Some people will call ME racist for saying that, in fact, some people call others racist just for being white. Now people that hate on the left or talk bad about them don’t see THEIR perspective. They think of it as the truth and some people do face racism but not by the police. Just a few bad apples doesn’t mean that the entire police force should be DEFUNDED. That will make people be left on the streets destroying our cities and communities left out on the streets that we had to work for. If we do actually do something about the police, trust me, we will have far more problems than we have now.

Brilliant. I throughly enjoyed this book. I’m lowkey excited to point out white fragility next time I see it!

Absolute joke. Tell poor Appalachian whites who receive no government help, no financial assistance for college, and no preferential admissions how privileged and fragile they are. You’ll probably get punched in the face.

Divisive and opinionated. Extremely biased. Very very unintelligent and closed minded. A person Can have 15 degrees and be very measurably smart and educated. True intelligence is the ability to view things from multiple different perspectives, ability to compare and contrast any two things. Intellectuals acknowledge similarities in every person as well as the differences. Simple minded thinking creates division and clique mindsets that allow people to use one difference (even unchangeable and not chosen like race) to continue to keep people divided and progressing as a society. Grow the f*€# up please.

Just for recommending. I could write this book if I wanted to. I could also drive off a cliff if I wanted to. The real question is, why am I being recommended this book?

Very good. As a Caucasian in the early stages of working with other clergy on racial reconciliation (we are challenging that moniker, how do you reconcile something that never was, none-the-less), her book opened up many areas I hadn’t considered. The fact we’re still discussing this 50 + years after Civil Rights is a sad testimony on our culture, we need to be honest and we need to understand what we take for granted. This book will help you see that. Drug on a little, she could have said more with less, but all-in-all, a solid, informative read.

Racist Trash. It’s unbelievable this is allowed in book stores. It is so blatantly racist that I assumed it was written by someone on the far right as a joke.

Growing. This was an excellent book. I gave me a lot to reflect upon as a white person. I think this is a great start to truly understanding what racism truly is and how it affects our behaviors and attitudes. Well done. I have a lot of work to do!

Seemed fine.. Well, I was only able to read the first 56 pages, but it all seems fine. It’s ironic that the book is called “White Fragility” and people are commenting with their own white fragility. “It’s too divisive,” “It makes me feel guilty,” “Why should I be ashamed of who I am?” Well hundreds of years of slavery and oppression is why you should feel a little uneasy. I’m white, by the way... the author was respectful, and made it clear they didn’t believe all white people were bad. Even when they wrote that we are all racist, they made sure to explain it to mean that we all have unconscious bias, not that we are all demons. There are so many people rating this one star - why? Because it made YOU uncomfortable for a change? Oh come on! That’s the fragility the author’s talking about, so you’re really just proving their point. And some people even said this was like Hitler’s book. Really? You’re trying to compare a white person reading a book telling them how to not be racist to a Jew reading a book about why they shouldn’t exist? Wow. You guys are cry-babies. Almost...... fragile? You need to toughen up and stop taking everything so personally, you need to accept the truth and not take it as an attack on who you are. I think white people should feel a bit guilty for a change, or at least try and not be so racist. Don’t know if you guys are capable of that yet. You need to grow up first.

Title in itself is grossly offensive.. This book is undoubtedly racist in nature. It doesn’t take long to realize this is a modern rendition on Hitler’s Mein Kampf, but instead, replaces Jews with white people. This is not equality, this is dangerous literature and should not be taken seriously. Would give less than a star if I could. A true sham.

An informative read. After reading How To Be an Antiracist by Kendi, my book club chose White Fragility. D’Angelo’s simplistic way of breaking down biases and privilege was appreciated. She keeps it easy to understand, and it was refreshing to read. I also like her first hand experiences while doing her diversity training. Her focus on white triggers was super helpful in guiding conversations with other people. Thank you for a great read!

Enlightening and interesting perspective. It made some very good points. always willing to expand and find new ways of understanding racism and how it can be dismantled. I challenge individuals to read this book and John McWhorter’s new book “Woke Racism”, both very differing but essential books on racism in America.

It’s a cult manual. Denouncing racism with the use of racism couldn’t be any more ironic. This woman is exploiting black struggles for clout & money.

Lots of introspection. I genuinely enjoyed this book. Even as a woman of colour I found this book to be incredibly helpful in reassessing my personal prejudices. Make sure you take the time to absorb the material and really apply it to yourself before moving on to the next chapter.

Would recommend. I have read this book and throughly enjoyed the challenges it offered. I have given this book to family and friends when they have brought up the topic of white fragility, and what it means for them.

White Fragility. I read this book because I was curious. I couldn’t believe that it could be as bad as many reviewer‘s had said. It is! The authors approach as far as I can tell is this: first redefine common English words in order to obfuscate and elicit maximum negative response from your reader. Wait until well into the book to actually provide the new definitions in order to ensure maximum confusion. Employee circular logic wherever possible. Miss state or twist the facts in order to fit your conclusions, or use outright falsehoods. State opinions as facts then draw wildly illogical conclusions. Most importantly make your thesis unfalsifiable by straw manning your critics arguments and then stating upfront that anyone who says these things is actually racist and therefore proves your point. Then repeat, repeat, repeat. I hesitate to recommend this book because doing so would put more money in the pocket of the author. However it’s probably worth it because any thinking person who reads this may finally come to the conclusion that all of this anti-racist/Neo Marxist/critical theory bunk is exactly that. I actually went into this hoping to be challenged and maybe expecting to feel a little uncomfortable. I didn’t feel the least bit uncomfortable because it’s such poorly written garbage that I couldn’t take it seriously and therefore it elicited no emotional response in me whatsoever. Except maybe sadness that people are falling for this and that someone like this woman is actually hired to teach in our institutions. This book is my hope that the absurdity may finally be exposed.

Racist book at its core. The premise of the book is that if you don’t agree with the book, you must be racist. It then continues from there. It’s agenda driven and not academic. Not worth your read especially if you think yourself an intellectual.

Corporate Creed. Do not fall for this simplistic, overhyped, poorly thought out book. A highly paid corporate HR gun telling white people for thousands of dollars a pop that they will remain racist even if they don’t know it no matter what. So I guess they need her services forever? Important, Insightful and refreshing. In my efforts to become better educated on social injustice I have tried several sources so far on the journey. This one I think created the biggest step change in my perspective by provoking uncomfortable questions about my self and society in general. I really think it is well written, important and brave.

This book is dangerous for America.. I simply don’t understand all of these brainwashed leftists who think this book is anywhere close to insightful or teaching. I know some people might not have explained very clearly why this book was bad, but if they actually took some time to read some of the more insightful reviews they might notice that it wasn’t a coincidence that some people actually read it with a brain on their heads and noticed some of the less than subtle flaws in this work. If you are a leftist, you probably loved this book because it coddled your warped ideology and elevated your fellow woke people to a moral standard higher than anyone else’s. Thank you. Thank you for writing on a topic that I am dedicated to learn more about. Thank you for challenging my learned habits and mindset. However, Robin’s writing style was just not my favorite. She spends way too much time apologizing for what white fragility is. It might have been more of an effective book to me if she spent more time explaining certain scenarios of white fragility. If we’re trying to unlearn something then someone needs to write a rule book. I think that’s partly why a Bible was written in the first place 🧐

Garbage. People of color, you are talented intelligent creative amazing people who don’t need toxic white women like Robyn D’Angelo trying to tell you what you need in life. Please don’t read this book. According to Robyn D’Angelo every white person is racist. You are just born that way, and there’s nothing you can do about it. But the book treats people of color even worse, it assumes they are helpless little children that can’t do anything about the situation unless heroic white people like Robyn D’Angelo write books to save them from all the racist white people ruining the world. Instead of inspiring people of color with uplifting messages about how competent and capable they are, this book just Tell them how they are doomed to fail and it’s not their fault. The worst thing you can do for people to convince them that they are failures and they can never be anything more than a failure, but don’t worry here come the woke white liberals riding on their mighty steeds to save you. Trying to live life with this type of understanding of the world is toxic for everyone, this book will just further the divide between people of different races.

Incredibly misguided and inaccurate. I’m a leftist myself, but I have to say that even this was too much for me. Obviously DeAngelo has some racist part of her she has to deal with, but trying to paint everyone as having her racist sentiment is just empirically not true.

By shouting your ignorance and hate and trolling the reviews of this book, you have successfully proven the author’s points and truths. I hear your anger for what it is: pain and fear. It hurts to hear that some of the biases that were passed down to you, as all of us have had passed down because that’s how being human works, were rooted in systemic racism. I am sorry that hearing the true version of historical events and policies has hurt you. Sometimes the truth does hurt. Beautifully written. Insightful & Thoughtful. As a woman of color I appreciated the insight & perspective. This was a hard but great read. This book should be on everyone’s reading list.

Biased garbage. This was a waste of money, this book does make great toilet paper though...highly recommend it for that.

Black fragility. Black people are unable to recognize their own propensity to commit crimes and turn neighborhoods into ghettos. If you are offended by this or you disagree your black fragility is showing. In all seriousness, it’s fine to be offended by that statement. Just don’t be a hypocrite when the race is reversed. Try some others, like: White is King, the future is white, and white people cannot be racist.

White Reactions Alone, Classic!. This book is worth every penny! If for no other reason than to allow the racial privilege in white people to show its ugly face in the reviews. Not all white people are racist, but too many are and it affects the country’s ability to unite and move forward from these massive historical stains. A book on how to be a rascist. This book is disgusting at its core and should be pulled from all platforms. This woman is a fraud and a racist. To think that this will/is a part of our youth’s curriculum should be of concern to EVERYONE. Telling any child that they are racist based on being born with a specific color skin is repugnant. Knowledge is power and everyone needs to know that this woman is an absolute disgrace to society. We have all been working on ending racism and this woman is promoting it.

Very helpful. This book has opened up my eyes to so many aspects of my life and surroundings. It has also helped me to have hard conversations with friends and family regarding race and BLM - so helpful given the current state of the nation.

If you want to become a white supremacist buy this book!!. I mean this in the most literal sense possible, this is a handbook to modern white supremacy, this book is creating racists, and I don’t mean anti white racism, or reverse racism, I mean old school white racial superiority. Don’t believe me? Let’s just look at the facts: the author is an admitted racist, she states this openly, without shame and tells us that all white people are racist, and need to accept this and have a racial awakening. White racial awakening, gee that sounds very similar to what white supremacists want, in fact it’s identical to what bro nazis say. The author says society is basically a monument to white supremacy, and every institution, every system within it is designed to perpetuate white supremacy, and it ensures this by rewarding racial features of the white race ensuring whites succeed... one small problem with this, in order for this to be true you must believe that a number of things that society values, and help you succeed, suddenly have to be things only white people are capable of, they must be racial traits of the white race, and the author enthusiastically agrees with this, this has been elaborated on many times but just a few examples of what this book and the entire social justice “anti racist” ideology believe to be features exclusive to the white race are hard work, respect for authority, stable nuclear family, valuing intelligence, understanding the concept of cause and effect, individualism... these are American values because they are human values. Any nation on earth that values them will see success for its people, to say they are white traits is racist af towards nonwhites. Reject this book and it’s teachings, do not be misled by liars trying to deceive you into hate.

A sad perspective. It is sad to see this rhetoric pushed as a young person of color. There are people who are racist in the world. Growing up In the south I have experienced it before. However, what I have learned is that I can’t let that dictate my life. I also can’t assume what is in someone’s heart based on a single bad experience. Is it more likely that someone I have never met is racist and hates me for the color of my skin or is it the case that someone had a bad day and said something rude. The more I began to think this way the more I began to realize that I had been jumping to conclusions. People could say anything I didn’t like or agree with and I would leap giant steps to paint them as having hate in their heart. I began to realize that the majority of the time nothing about race was ever even mentioned. That wasn’t how I wanted to live my life so I stopped jumping to the conclusion of being a victim. As a core value, racism is not the true issue, it is hate. I have seen so much hate from every group of people. White on white, black on black, white on black. The one I have seen most however is black people resenting white people. The number of times I have seen people of color judge and say racist things towards my mother, a white woman who married a black man, far outweigh the racist tones or undertones that “oppressive white people,” are said to expressively hold. If you are a white person who is not racist, don’t let this book tell you that you are. Always be ready and able to empathize with others. This is something we all need to work on as humans. However, don’t hold yourself responsible or blame yourself for the sins your ancestors committed. It is time to stop separating ourselves as opposing groups that are either perpetrators or enslaved, think of each other as fellow humans.
