Interesting read. I’ve had this book in my library for at least 2yrs and had started it multiple times but could never get into it like I wanted to, but, when the movie came out on Netflix, I was really determined to finish it before watching the movie. My difficulties with seeing it through was probably more of a “me” problem, however, I will say it definitely starts as a slow read, with a very slow buildup. The main character is flawed but you still find yourself rooting for her to not just be “the crazy old lady“. I would say the middle and ending parts of the book were pretty good. Some twists were thrown in: some I expected, others I did not. All together, it was an interesting read and I’m now looking forwards to seeing how the film adaptation measures against it.

Struggled to get through to the end. Very slow and lacked depth. Not sure why this book has been so popular for some time. Maybe it appeals more to a different kind of person but it definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. I struggled, and I mean heavily struggled, to get through this book. I kept finding myself wanting and hoping for a high action scene to reveal a plot twist or to introduce some adrenaline, but no scene ever came

Good not Great. It felt rushed in the end and everything got tied up too nearly but the multiple twists kept me interested.

Not nearly as gripping as I had hoped. The book starts slow. The twist are obvious. The ending was nice I enjoyed the characters and the writing is pretty good the story line was just too predictable from the jump. I found it a bit boring.

Deserves More Stars!. This is an absolutely fantastic book. I loved it. The writing style was fast paced, and contrary to other reviews, carried the story like a feather in the wind. Chapters were very short, which I enjoyed because I could read a chapter while I was between tasks or waiting on something, and at the end of each chapter, even the shortest ones, I felt compelled to go on to see what would happen next because each chapter gave me something to look forward to. I have rarely been so enthusiastic about any book as I am about this one. You just have to read it!

Definitely a Winner!. When I chose this book, I didn’t notice it was over 700 pages long! I said to myself it will take you weeks to read this book. Well, it took me 3 days. This book had everything packed into those 700 pages plus! Twists and turns and nothing I expected but got everything I wanted from a book! Totally well worth your time and so well written!

4 stars but….. I’ll give it 4 stars.. the beginning was kinda slow but it was still good, the middle was really good! Kept me on my toes, I gasped a few times lol, but the ending was a little too dramatic (might not be the word I’m looking for) for me.. it felt like a script rather than a book. Still a good read and I’d recommend it Came back to add.. if your reading the book to watch the movie don’t waste your time.. the book was WAY better than the movie. Read it when you bored. This book is so interesting and has very plot twists. I like it and some little boring and some kind of sad stuff some I'm blowing my mind. In the end, you will shock and you should read it I love it and enjoy it.

Disturbing. Only read if you truly love scary/disturbing books. Slow start and terrifying plot line. The whole book is honestly crazy so if you’re in to that, give it a read. I wanted to stop the entire time, but I finished it for my book club.

Not as expected. At first I started losing interest but soon after the book took a whirlwind of a turn & was quite captivating! Turn after turn of events not to be expected. Very creative, plot mapped out beautifully & I couldn’t put the book down!

Terrible. Absolutely terrible book and movie.

Not too bad. I didn’t hate this novel, but I didn’t love it either. I am more interested in literary fiction that gives me more of a challenge when I read, something that uses bigger words to explain a more meaningful and complex story, this novel was not that. I did enjoy the fact that the story focused on mental health and the mental condition of agoraphobia, which is something I have struggled with in the past and so I could relate. Not a horrible novel but also not the best and I only say that because I don’t usually read mystery novels.

Chilling. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the book starts rather slow, but it really picks up momentum as it goes along. Kept me guessing and kept me intrigued. I will be looking forward to the next book by this author! Nevreader

Long. As good as the plot twist was, it took too long to get there. I understand the need for a build up but it was hard to stay interested up until much later in the book.

Great Plot Twist. Started slow, almost lost interest.... a Facebook book group convinced me to stick with it, super glad I did because holy cow, even though I thought I had this figured out at different points I didn’t.

Overly complicated wording subtracts from the plot. I started the sample of this book because I heard many great things about it, but I am glad I didn’t buy it outright. The book was very complicated ll written, and the pure complexity of the writing style meant that I spent more time unraveling the writing than I did reading and comprehending the book. Some readers may still like it, but it definitely wasn’t for me.

Enjoyable, suspenseful. Riveting, well-written thriller. The style of writing was so clever and descriptive, with quite a few surprise twists and reveals. It’s one of those rare books that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.

Draws you in deep... What a fascinating, poetic read!! I Finn writes with such clarity, precision and depth. I barely put it down (with exception to one section after the half way mark - not a big deal at all!) I will always love a scintillating plot and prose!

Suspense!. For someone who used to be a book worm to barely reading the past couple years, this was the perfect book to break myself back in. It’s suspenseful and beautifully written. For a book that takes place solely in a person’s home, I couldn’t stop turning the page!

Not intriguing until the last four chapters. Some people may really love this book, unfortunately I'm one that did not. It was hard to read until the very end. Not a lot of thrill until the last few chapters. Up until the point I feel like random words were just taking up space on pages.

A little repetitive and dragging, but an excellent surprise ending!. I honestly thought this book was going to be really good, but was a little disappointed. It was not bad, but the first big twist I had figured out in the first chapter or two, and found myself waiting for it to be revealed. The book did drag on a bit, it took me a while to read only because I found it hard to pick up and get really interested sometimes. I was very surprised by the ending however, and did not see it coming!!(actually gave me goosebumps). The ending itself did make the read worth it, but I wish it didn’t take soo long with all the repetition. I can however see this being a more interesting movie, which I believe is in the works now, so let’s see how that works out!

Good, not great. The ending was a great twist which is always my favorite part of the book. The main character Anna, has a trait of thinking many things at once. I get it, it’s a character trait that may be good for a movie but sometimes it was difficult to keep up with what exactly was going on because some thoughts are just so random and out of context. It took a longgggg time to get to the climax of the book and for that reason and the reason above, I give it 4 stars.

Gripping and suprising. First off, I must say I read a lot of suspense, crime novels and am often disappointed by the predictable endings. However, that was not the case with the Woman in the Window. This book is a true psychological thriller that has surprises right through till the end. The only thing that would have made the book better would have been a longer, full circle ending.

Good suspense. I enjoyed the book and read it within two days. Some parts became rather drawn out and that is why I could not give it 5 stars. The main character can be very frustrating but since I have a friend who struggled with agoraphobia and alcoholism I was able to be sympathetic and understand her. Otherwise I may have not continued because she is that frustrating. The book had one moment that stopped me dead in my tracks and I had to let it absorb a while. Something I have rarely experienced and for that reason I highly recommend taking the time to read it.

Decent, Not Great. Finn’s writing style certainly wouldn’t be considered high brow and took getting used to and most, but not all, of the plot twists were easy to figure beforehand. The descriptive narrative was generally weak making parts of the story hard to imagine and could have been developed more. However the central character was compelling and overall the story was interesting enough to hold me until the end.

This book wasn’t for me.... While I appreciate the idea behind this book, I didn’t enjoy reading it. I was really excited that it was chosen for my book club’s September book, but as I started reading, I got disappointed quickly. I had a hard time empathizing with the narrator. This is not a good sign when she’s an agoraphobe who has clearly suffered trauma. I also felt that the story dragged on, which may have been intentional, but I didn’t find it enjoyable. It was also a completely predictable storyline.

Lame. I was intrigued for maybe 30 pages, and then the story turned into a predictable mess. How many stories do we need about fragile, dysfunctional women who end up saving the day? It's so played out! That being said, if this was turned into a Lifetime movie with really bad acting, I would totally watch it for camp-value.

Incredible Mystery/Suspense. It was hard for me to put this book down. Easily one of the best I’ve read recently. The mystery and suspense was fantastic and you were fed enough timely clues/information throughout to always keep you on the edge of your seat.

Best book I’ve read in a long time. I read 50-60 books a year. I read reviews to decide if it is worth reading. I see things like “a page turner” and “hard to put down”. Not sure I believe them all. Actually never had a book I couldn’t put down- until this one. If I didn’t have to sleep I would’ve read it in one sitting. I don’t write reviews- until this one. Couldn’t NOT write a review because this was, by far, the best book I’ve ever read.

The Woman in the Window. From start to finish, a great read. Lots of surprises as you get into the meat of this novel. I could not put it down.

Deception at its finest!. At first I thought this was going to be another boring procedural where I knew the killer by the third chapter. I got that wrong and so much more. No spoilers here but really don’t skip a single page.

Spoilers. Spoilers below; . . . . I do not understand the good reviews or critical acclaim from other writers. It was obvious as soon as the narrator mentioned her estranged husband and daughter that they were dead. The other bizarre storyline with the neighbors rang so false and yet it was again obvious that there was someone messing with the narrator (otherwise EVERYTHING in the book would made up and therefore pointless). The “twist” that is was Ethan was lame- you knew it was someone from the family and it landed like a dud. Furthermore I could barely get through the book- it was just so slow and pointless. How many times can we watch the main character get drunk and take pills? I have read almost every psychological thriller out there and I can’t fathom why anyone thinks this is good, let alone enthralling. Don’t waste your money, no matter how discounted the price.

The Woman in the Window. Where have all the great writers gone? Hemingway, Steinbeck, Fitzgerald.. Grisham and Paterson, and in my estimation, this book " Woman in the Window" are prices of a non- demanding reading public. Don't push the edges.. Just give me something to read quickly and discuss over a glass of wine. This was very (VERY) predictable..No stretch to the imagination, overworked imagery!

The Woman in the Window. Wow; so many levels; so many layers! Books like this are rare. It’s hard to find such a strong, brilliant and yet very fractured hero.

Gripping. Although initially slow, this is a thrilling page-turner once Finn gets the story moving.

Slow moving. The whole book is about a woman drinking in her home, spying on her neighbors. A drunk sloppy mess. Repetitive and boring.

Not worth it. Mostly boring and anticlimactic. Too many pages to say very little, frustrating characters and predictable.

Ending Was Eye-roll Worthy. The author took a shortcut to the end of this book. Kind of ruined it for me. Way too convenient.

Very suspenseful. This is an excellent book. I love how Finn develops the characters in this book. I found it to be a quick read. Once I started I had a difficult time putting it down. I loved the plots twists and turn. It was well worth the time I spent reading it.

Ummmm. Unlike the other reviews, I liked the rest of the story but not the ending. The ending was a bit lame. I did take turns thinking which character was the one who done it. And the actual one did come to mind a few times, so I wasn’t too surprised. The ending fight was stupid. The reveal that “so and so was right” was right all along was wack. It just kinda ended like oh, ok.

Predictable. I found this book to be predictable and redundant. I did not care for it at all and would Not recommend it.
