The Atlas Defect by A.J. Scudiere
The Atlas Defect by A.J. Scudiere Book Summary
As Agents Heath and Eames uncover the truth, a decades old scandal comes to light. Even now, some are willing to kill to keep their secrets hidden. Eleri wanted a different kind of case. She should have been careful what she wished for. When an odd human skeleton in Michigan’s Manistee-Huron National Forest triggers a NightShade investigation, Eleri and Donovan arrive to find it missing. But two other skeletons are a little too easily uncovered—each displays different anomalies that raise alarming questions. The bones aren’t from the area or probably even the continent. A decades-old abandoned building doesn’t register on satellite images. Files detailing genetic experiments on children are even more disturbing, and most of the children are unaccounted for. Who were the test subjects and where are the bodies? Eleri and Donovan believe there are others out there who haven’t died yet. But they will, if something isn’t done. Fast. If the case itself wasn’t enough of a problem, someone is watching. Someone with a particular interest in Donovan’s own skeletal anomalies . . . The Atlas Defect is the third book in the NightShade Forensic FBI Files series by USA Today bestselling author A.J. Scudiere. This book can be read as a standalone, but readers who love paranormal investigations and FBI thrillers will want to read the entire series!

Very enjoyable. Kept the pace up.
Drags. This story could have been told with half the pages. Kept waiting for something interesting to happen, but nothing did.
Still going strong.. This is the third volume in the quirky series. Odd things continue to make sense as the main characters continue to reveal themselves through action and words. The pacing is good, sometimes breathless and the resolution is appropriate. I look forward to the next installment. If you're new to A.J., go grab the earlier NightShade (or Justice) novels and strap yourself in for a bumpy ride. You won't regret it.

The pylorus is considered as having two parts, the pyloric antrum (opening to the body of the stomach) and the pyloric canal (opening to the duodenum). The pyloric canal ends as the pyloric orifice, which marks the junction between the stomach and the duodenum. The orifice is surrounded by a sphincter, a band of muscle, called the pyloric sphincter. The word pylorus comes from Greek πυλωρός, via Latin. The word pylorus in Greek means "gatekeeper", related to "gate" (Greek: pyle) and is thus linguistically related to the word "pylon". Structure The pylorus is the furthest part of the stomach that connects to the duodenum. It is divided into two parts, the antrum, which connects to the body of the stomach, and the pyloric canal, which connects to the duodenum. Antrum The pyloric antrum is the initial portion of the pylorus. It is near the bottom of the stomach, proximal to the pyloric sphincter, which separates ....
