Not so realistic. Besides the lack of book editing and all the errors that were distracting, Avery Black is a fantasy cop. Too many risks, too many second chances given by her superiors.

Thrillers Beware. A real look in to the messed up life of Avery Black, although she is growing on me I sure hope she becomes a good mom! Oh and the people around her, well I hope they soften a little too. Creepy mystery that left me hanging till the end. Just downloaded the 2nd one.

A great twenty four hours!. I was so enthused by this book that I read it over two days, accomplishing little else on my weekend. I contacted a friend, and twisted her arm to read this book. Really, this is an excellent book!

I'm torn.... The book itself was good. The story line, the characters and their backgrounds, everything was good to read. But the errors? The spelling, the sentence structures? Sometimes it was hard to follow. I won't be reading the rest of the series, based on the reviews of the following books. Also, I felt this book sometimes took a while to get into, I kind of dreaded reading it. Up until maybe the thirtieth chapter I was rethinking why I chose this book... Overall, it was okay, but it takes a while to get into. I would recommend reading the reviews before you decide to start, so you can prepare yourself.

Cause to Kill. This book is a thrilling page-turner. I highly recommend it to readers. I rated it four stars instead of five because of (1) several typos, and (2) unnecessary, frequent use of passive voice.

A little disappointed. I became hooked on the Riley Paige series. This 1st book was free and thought I might enjoy it too. It didn’t catch me like the Riley series. I became distracted from the story because of all the type errors. The story ling was good but it didn’t grip me. I have a had time putting other books down. I want to keep reading. This book didn’t do that for me. I am going to buy the 2nd book in the series and hope it will be better, if it isn’t then I won’t waste my money.

Plot and characters. Great plot, very interesting and well developed. Characters well developed as well, even though you would like to kick a couple of their butts.

Was this silence of the lambs?. Overall it was okay, just a complete ripoff of the silence of the lambs. I won't give away any of the spoilers, but really was not original.

Cause to Kill. A very good read. Avery Black is the only female detective in an all male department. She struggles for acceptance and to overcome past demons. Perusing a serial killer, she find herself having to visit a killer from her past to help put the present back together.

Worth the read. It’s a good story. I couldn’t wait to find out if the murderer would be caught. My only critique is Avery. She’s not likable for a reason. She does dumb things and knows it but still does them then wants to wonder why her life is miserable. It’s self inflicted. I hope her character is written better in the series.

Perfect. Cause to Kill was amazing. It has everything you could want in a mystery! I also loved how the killer did his work. The way the author wrote and described the killer’s work was incredible! I very much like how he involved the police officer’s family life and work life and put them together to create a wonderful story.

Disherm. Okay story but too many typos and grammatical mistakes! Many of the relationships- i.e. Finley and Connelly -are not really developed well at all. And her gut feelings are not defined or believeable.

Decent story. Not a bad puff thriller, but definitely lots of typos and the errors in Boston details seem like the author took half a glance at a map and then said, “close enough.”

Too bad. Fast read, but characters and plot seemed contrived. Book was riddled with editing errors that should have been caught prior to publishing. The details related to the Boston area surroundings were poignantly real. Those parts were spot on. I was just expecting more than a mix between a Harlequin romance and Silence of the Lambs. Those aspects might be very satisfying for some readers though. I hope this author finds a following. Every author deserves one.

Typical of author. I enjoy the author’s stories and characters, however the amount of errors, typos and grammar in all of her books keep me from buying more in any of the series. It’s a shame, really, but I can’t see spending money of shoddy work. With as many books and she has and as much as she charges, she’d be a lot more successful if she hired an editor.

Grammatical errors overwhelm. This is a perfect start to a series, and entertaining in so many ways, however the grammatical errors constantly distracted me from the story line.

Cause To Kill. A decent book and plot. Just had some difficulty with the unrealistic "history" of the main character.

Cause to kill. Decent read, easy and took me a day to read through. All the detectives in the 3 series are so similar and therefore, predictable. Also, did the editor change? The grammar and spelling mistakes in this book are horrible. The others from this author I have read didn't have that problem.

AMAZING book!!!. This was my first time using iBooks so I was trying to find something to read. I tried this book and honestly it was a great choice. I really wanted something interesting and this book kept me on my toes the whole time. I did not want to stop reading! Had several editing errors but the book is great. Would highly recommend!

Worth the read. I couldn't figure out if I liked Avery or not until the end..until after I learned HER story. I'm reading at 2 a.m. and the loss of sleep was worth it...

Predictable. No surprises here. Many mistakes that catch the readers attention and make it hard to become involved in the story. My favorite was the policeman that was shot by shotgun shells that went through his neck and face. Does author even know what a shotgun shell is? The characterization was poorly developed and shallow and per the author everybody yelled and screamed. No calmer heads in this amateur hour. It would be nice if the author actually developed some psychological profiles and valid theory if writing a psychological suspense about a serial killer. I gave an extra star for the fun of hunting the mistakes.

Cause to Kill. After reading the first chapter I knew that I couldn't let my hands off of this book. I'm happy to say that I finished this book less than one week which is very rare that I finish reading a book in such a short period of time but this book was the best that I have read in the past couple of years. A woman's intuition can determine life or death.. This is one of the best books I have read in quite awhile. Blake Pierce has a way of connecting you with the plot and the characters from page one. If you are a fan of serial killers, police thrillers, suspense and plots that are nail biting page turners this is for you. Avery Black was a highly paid well respected defense attorney in Boston until the man she kept out of prison for murder, did just that as soon as he was let go he killed a college girl and disgraced the law firm, the city, Avery and everyone who knew her. It ended her marriage. She started drinking. When her pity party was over she decided to be a cop and catch the bad guys. But it's hard to be a woman in a mans world after all of her screw ups. She made detective but doesn't play well with others and no one wants to partner with her. She gets a case that is going to either make or break her career and her life. She has to use her mind and the convict she put in prison to figure out who is killing the sorority girls in Boston. Fast paced action. She is tough with a mind of her own and it will either make her a hero or get her killed.
