Evan Smoak is the Nowhere Man.
Taken from a group home at twelve, Evan was raised and trained as part of the Orphan Program, an off-the-books operation designed to create deniable intelligence assets—i.e. assassins. Evan was Orphan X. He broke with the Program, using everything he learned to disappear and reinvent himself as the Nowhere Man.
But his new life is interrupted when a surprise attack comes from an unlikely angle and Evan is caught unaware. Captured, drugged, and spirited off to a remote location, he finds himself heavily guarded and cut off from everything he knows. His captors think they have him trapped and helpless in a virtual cage but they don’t know who they’re dealing with—or that they’ve trapped themselves inside that cage with one of the deadliest and most resourceful men on earth.
Continuing his electrifying series featuring Evan Smoak, Gregg Hurwitz delivers a blistering, compelling new novel in the series launched with the instant international bestseller, Orphan X.

Mitch Who?. Evan is at the top! What a rollar coaster ride of thrills, danger, electric shocks, and Bam! I could not put this book down. Searching now for more Evan.
The Nowhere Man. I loved his first book.Orphan X ……This one was in parts good, but felt some of it was not believable. Too much pain in the book……the ending was good…..and very happy that Jack was alive.
Keeps you turning the page…. Excellent read. Great writing that keeps you turning the page longer than you intend to. Basically a more realistic and humanized version of The Gray Man… just keep the realism on point.
Orphan X is worth every minute. If you are a fan of Reacher or Bourne you will not be able to put this book down. Non stop action and well developed characters.
The Nowhere Man. OK, but a little over the top.
Sophomore Slump. 200 pages too long, this 2nd book in the series really falls off.
Fast-paced and Fascinating. In this, the second book in the Orphan X series, Gregg Hurwitz again gives us a fast-paced story, with his fascinating main character, Evan Smoak, doing some soul-searching in between dishing out punishment to those who've earned it. Evan Smoak has transformed himself into the Nowhere Man, who uses the "particular set of skills" he learned in a rogue government program to privately help ordinary citizens who find themselves in extreme danger. All he asks in return is that they “pay it forward” by passing his phone number on to one person who needs his help. This time, though, he finds himself held captive by an extreme narcissist who wants to access his money (of which he has a considerable amount). Evan spends a fair amount of his captivity drugged up, and a fair bit wreaking havoc on his guards. At the same time, he's also being pursued by another orphan, who's been tasked with eliminating him. There's a lot of action, and once again the ending of this one left me ready to move on to the next one (Hellbent). Well done, Mr. Hurwitz, well done! Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for providing a copy for an unbiased review.
Very Goos. Almost as good as book one
Only just ok. Really loved the first of this series, Orphan X. Unfortunately this second one ended up boring me, only got about half way with some struggle. Too much endless fighting and repetition, far less atmosphere and interesting nuance, for me. Hoping his third one, Hellbent, returns to the intrigue of the first.
Evan Smoak is back!. Another five star rating. Evan Smoak is captured. The kidnapper wants all of his money and is not afraid to use torture to gain his ends. Evan never loses sight of escape and how to lower the odds against him. Prior to his capture, he rescues a young girl from traffickers and learns another girl is being shipped in a container from California to Florida and he is determined to rescue her. The novel brings in much of his past, particularly his relationship with Jack Johns. To go into what happens to Evan, his captors and the people from his past will bring up way too many spoilers. This second novel has tied up most of the loose ends from the first one and did it well. Once again, great reading and now on to the third chapter. Thanks to Net Galley and Minotaur Books for an ARC for an honest review.
Best ever, for me. I read a lot of books probably one a week, anything from Gray man to Silvia and Flynn, America assassin, and by far this is the best book I have ever read, I’m not clinic, in fact I’m no one, and I don’t give reviews but, this book deserved it. Most impressive is the detail the author gives you can feel and see everything. I love the way the offer prepares a story and gives you exactly what you need to see. Guarantee you 100% you will not be disappointed with this author or book. Like I said my first review
Superb book 2. Enjoyed just as much or more then first book of series.
