Soul bound. This is a great story! I loved the adventure, drama and intrigue. The best thing was the “no sex” involved storytelling. It drew you into the story from the beginning and kept your attention on the story without all the added sexual nonsense that most stories seem to have to have. Truly great story telling at it’s best! Great job Bethany.

Okay…okay!. Definitely not the most exciting book I’ve ever read. In fact, in a few places it really felt like it was dragging but, I liked the story and enjoyed the world overall. Maybe not enough to read the whole series though.

Elf and Human Romance. Although the romance is decided upon their meeting, there are parts of this story I enjoyed: the family bonds, the snarky friendships. But it doesn’t resolve much of anything which is why I took one star. I like Alyna but her insecurity felt like a crutch more than a true character flaw. The throwaway line at the end irritated me even more. I won’t be reading on in the series.

Soulbound. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Spotted some punctuation errors. This book attempts to explore complex family dynamics and world building and skims over various other social issues. The author conveniently overuses magic to rush Arlyn’s adjustment to Moranaia, denying her a lot of real character development, and there was overall too much gasping and breaths caught. Even though she had no initial plans to stay, Arlyn makes no reference to the life she would be returning to after she fulfilled Aimee’s request. At the start of the book Lyr says polyamory is acceptable to elves, but the plot is driven by monogamous soulbound relationships and infidelity. When Selia and Lyr discuss lineage, they’re grateful to Kai for forcing the bond despite the fact that up until this point everyone was preaching that it is and should be Arlyn’s choice, a choice she hadn’t made yet. I never buy into the “love in a week” romances and the sex was cringey.

A page turner. This was such a good book, I couldn’t put it down. The characters are realistic with just the right pinch of magic and the plot unfolds before you eyes taking you in directions you never thought it would. Take advantage of it being free for now because I’m telling you, you don’t want to miss this!

Good start to Great Series?. I’ve read a few other reviews of Soulbound. Some seemed to want more action or more descriptive sex scenes. (I say more action maybe but the more descriptive and frequent the sex scenes, the more likely I am to trash the book!) I found the story to be a great introduction to the Elven World. Intense and intriguing enough to make me want more!

Really good read. I really enjoyed this book. I already read book 2. Great story, premise and characters. I just wish that there wasn't so many view points because I wanted to know more about the love story.

Way too bloated. I couldn’t stay interested.. I’m about half-way through and I’m quitting. The hero character has spent most of the book either in a coma or too weak to stand on his own. So it’s been hundreds of pages of character building for the heroine and he father. Very little action or progression. I’ve been skimming past pages and finding that I missed nothing. With editing, this might be a good story. As it is, chapter upon chapter is spent talking about language, clothes, family history, etc. It’s too slow paced for me.

Bad guys start in 1D. This is probably the first book in a series, and instead of building the love story slowly over the course of the series, started it out with a bang. Your classic head over boots in love, followed by trying to figure out if they could even be friends.. It looks like the bad guys are the mystery, and are going to be the evolving story here after the non-fun and games that occur at the end of this book. Don’t have the real root reason why the bad guys feel the way they do, what’s been said so far simply points at their targets, without explanation of the cause. Simple unjustified prejudice with no basis. Hope the author will pump that up as the series progresses. Fairly standard world building, but the whole fish out of water - girl from another world discovers unknown father, the love of her life and magical powers in a strange new land - is really underplayed. Perhaps this theme is so overused that it’s become boring? Answers await in the next installment I hope..

Average. I would have liked the book to be about Arlyn but she was completely sidelined by Kai and Lyr's story. While she wasn't a total damsel, her lack of importance in the book made her character very two-dimensional.

I found this book fascinating. The author truly knows how to capture the Elfin society In a believable way. What I really enjoyed was her way of including many problems we experience in our daily lives: prejudice, cruelty and even environmental pollution! Arlyn struggles to adapt to the life as heir to her father’s realm after the death of her mother on Earth. She misunderstood accepting a gift from Kai as kindness, rather than the first stage of bonding. Even more confusing is the emerging talents she is showing, including teleporting. However, a series of attempts on the lives of Kai, her father and herself leave them all shaken until they finally face the villain....but is it now too late to stop him?

“Soulbound” a wonderful story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, that had me totally enthralled from the first page till the end, and now I want to know more. I recommend this book and now I am going to get the next one.

A well-crafted tale. A freely, flowing novel about a new arrival to the elf world. Our heroine stuns those she meets, even as a host of plots and dangers swirl around her and those that she quickly comes to realise are her true family. This book has many interesting characters, with more than enough elements of jeopardy to maintain creative tension. It’s well worth a read.
