More telling than showing. Great story with a satisfying ending, written in classic fairytale style. Wondering why a weak King has the same name (and no relation to) one of my favorite characters from “The Dark Tower” series (Roland). Flagg is here as himself, sowing evil as he does in each story, by whatever name the author gives him. I found myself engaged only sporadically. Large swathes of general telling without details left me uninterested and not invested in any of the characters.

Riveting. Typical King. A great tale full of adventure and twists.

1987. Why DO we have to wait? Does King need build up to help sell his books? This is ridiculous, if it was a hard back I could see the delay but it's a digital edition.

Amazing!!. This book is the best book I have read in my life!! I read the first two sentences and fell in love. If you love reading and even if you don't this is the book for you.

Wonderful Tale. I’m 80 years old and consider this one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read.

Not even close to his best work. The best story teller ever is trying to tap into Michael Crichton’s money making teen novel line. So disappointed.

More Fantasy but 100% Awesomesauce. My Journey to the Dark Tower I recently decided to start reading the Dark Tower series but wanted the full experience so I got some recommendations and compiled a list of books relevant (hopefully!) to the extended lore. This book 6 on that list. Oh, man this was such a good read!!! This one has the same momentum as The Shining even though it’s a completely different genre. Kept me up into the wee hours of the morning when I should have been getting sleeping before work on multiple occasions. A great way to experience King’s writing if you’re not a fan of horror/thriller novels, and believe me, you DO want to experience King’s writing. The man has an incredible gift. No Dark Tower… but there was a bastard of a dark magician that seems REAL familiar from The Gunslinger. Possible first character to cross over? LET’S FIND OUT!!!

Different memories the 2nd time. I am reading this a second time, many years after the first. This book feels very short, I remember it being longer. The story is interesting, but feels one sided. This is the second book with Flagg in it that I recall, with The Stand being the first one.

Only 70 pages. Paid full price for the book, but once I hit 70 pages it tells me 'Finished!'. I'm not sure if it's still downloading but i've had phone connected to wifi for hours, even tried restarting phone. Very upset.
