The Irish Cottage: Finding Elizabeth

The Irish Cottage: Finding Elizabeth by Juliet Gauvin Book Summary

A story about losing your way and finding your life. Book 1 of 3.

Elizabeth Lara built a perfect life as San Francisco’s top divorce attorney, but when she loses her great-aunt Mags, the woman who raised her, she boards a plane and leaves it all behind.

The Irish shores welcome her as she learns a shocking truth, kept secret for thirty-five years. Devastated and now alone in the world, Beth tries to find peace in a beautiful cottage by Lough Rhiannon, but peace isn’t what fate had in mind. Almost as soon as she arrives, Beth’s solitary retreat into the magic wilds of Ireland is interrupted by Connor Bannon. A man with light brown hair, ice blue eyes and a secret of his own. He’s gorgeous, grieving, and completely unexpected.

With the help of Mags’ letters, the colorful townspeople of Dingle, and Connor, Elizabeth might just find a way back to the girl she lost long ago and become the woman she always wanted to be.

A Note From Jules:

Be forewarned you might not want to start this book late at night—several readers have reported “gobbling it up” and going on to the next book immediately. This book is literary women’s fiction, it is not a traditional romance, per se.

It’s a trilogy, not a standalone. All three books are vital to the story: The Irish Cottage, The London Flat, and The Paris Apartment. That being said, I’ve found that traditional romance readers are VERY happy at the end of London. So take a ride with me, first to Ireland and then the world.

“If you enjoy Nora Roberts, you’ll like Juliet Gauvin. The Irish Cottage is a fresh take on women’s literary fiction, sometimes light and scrumptious and other times quite profound in its observations on life, love and loss.”

“A book that conveys the true feelings of Ireland when you visit…it’s a bit of a romance, history, travel, and mystery neatly tied into a book well worth reading.”

“It will give you the feels—only the good ones!”

The Irish Cottage: Finding Elizabeth is an international women’s literary fiction romance novel with three books in the novel series. Other themes include: romance literary fiction, women’s sagas, love stories, and second chances at life.

INTERVIEW WITH THE AUTHOR
Q: How did you come up with The Irish Cottage?
Jules: Well the story came together in pieces. I love Ireland, I've always been attracted to the country, the people, the music, the dancing. I've spent time traveling the country so I knew I wanted to set the book there. And then the character of Elizabeth was based on a lot of the experiences I had when I was in law in San Francisco. When I was immersed in that world--it was a very dark time, and I really did lose my way--like Elizabeth. I even let long-time relationships die because I was in such a dark place, it was difficult to see anything past my own nose. So yeah, I knew I wanted my heroine to be a "recovering attorney" and I knew that I wanted her to have this great love affair in Ireland that would open her up to the truly great possibilities life has to offer.

Q: And what about Connor Bannon? Is he based on anyone?
Jules: Ummm...he might be an amalgamation of several people, but I think I'll refrain from commenting further--have to keep some of it to myself, don't I?

Q: Why did you elect to write literary women's fiction as opposed to traditional contemporary romance?
Jules: I knew I wanted to write in the literary women's fiction space because writing a story where the heroine's evolution is paramount--not just her relationship with Connor--is what really gets me, drives me--I love those types of stories. I like writing herstory--women's lives and journeys are so complex--I wanted to write a series that included a great love story, but didn't sacrifice the heroine's journey in any way. It's about Elizabeth finding her way--we all need to find our way. Sometimes people help with that, but ultimately each of us has to find our own path...and we all need love too.

Q: Why London and then Paris?
Jules: I lived in London for a time--I love it so much. It's one of the best cities on the planet, really. When I closed my eyes and thought about where Elizabeth's journey would take her I knew London would be next. And Paris--I lived in Lyon for a time as well and I've spent a lot of time in Paris so it seemed only natural for the final book to be set there. I also set certain things in motion in The Irish Cottage that make it impossible to end anywhere else--I knew I wanted to end it in France. Plus, Elizabeth has a major sweet tooth, like me, and Paris has the most amazing dessert masters in the world. I spent many hours pouring over the websites of my favorites and discovering some new ones. Those were the hardest and best research nights--I'm nocturnal, I write at night--and pouring over the websites of my favorite masters was heaven and hell. I wanted to get on a plane already. My sugar intake definitely went up while I was writing The Paris Apartment--and my waistline with it.

My review is unlikely to do justice to the author’s creation. This book (the first in a series of 6) beautiful! Both characters and descriptive prose are carefully crafted and well-loved. This is not a formulaic romance novel, and I savored the experience of reading it, as I would a fine beverage or meal. The characters and the events of the story are intense, yet there is an underlying tone of gentle kindness. There are synchronicities, intuitions, and magic woven into this love story, which rang true to me.

I don’t read romance novels really and I’m not sure I realized that’s what I was reading but I’m glad I found this book. Great escape full of adventure and life contemplations. Wonderful ending and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Beautiful setting descriptions, characters to fall in love with…I laughed and cried….my favorite kind of book!

From the moment I started reading this book I could not put it down. You could relate to the characters and almost see yourself there with them. I was bummed out when I got to the end but will have to get the others in the series so I can find out what happens!! It is one story line I can not let go of and must know how it continues!

I only wish there was no foul language. Foul language may be popular today and ‘everyone’ uses it, not true, but real words can convey an even richer meaning to a story.

And “represent”accurately the raw emotions of these characters. So much more relatable! I’m your fan!

Read this wonderful, deep, fun and empowering book in a day and then read the next 4 books in the series in 6 days. Can’t wait for the final installment in this series and the upcoming Scottish set series! Thank you for a truly uplifting snd fun escape into the world of Elizabeth, Connor and their wonderful friends and family.

A beautiful country and it’s people. A broken couple who find healing together. This was a fantastic story from beginning to end. I look forward to the next book!

Enjoyed it!

I’m sad I can’t finish. I too thought this was going to be different however the woman wines and wines and the guys is dopey. I’m bummed.

Not a typical happy ever after but the possibility was inferred. Well written with a well developed story line. Enjoyed the empowerment of the female character. I hope it influences more women to learn how to take care of themselves.

Started The Irish Cottage as an easy read before bedtime and ended up combing through it quicker than I expected and losing sleep in the process! I was delighted by the character development and the colorful Ireland imagery both of the people and scenery. Very much looking forward to The London Flat so see how the story continues to unfold.

I really enjoyed this book. It was compelling and a quick read. Hard to put down once you get into it. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

In Ireland, free of obligations and ah yes, meet a hunk a hunk a hunk of burnin’ love named Connor. Elizabeth has much to ponder and Connor is available.

Like many others, I’m not much of a writer, no matter how much I enjoy reading. This book was wonderful and I had to write how much I enjoyed the characters. Mostly, I want to complement the author by using her own words… “be brave, be bold and when you come across something in life that gives you joy, spread it around…..”. This is me spreading it around.

Good easy relaxing escape read.

I was snowed in for a couple of days and while cradling my baby girl, read this with the fire going and stew in the crockpot. Definitely recommend. I wish I could continue to read but I only read the free books.

Lovely read for a lazy rainy day. Looking forward to the other books in the series.

This was a very compelling story. There were many twist and turns to hold my interest. I hope someday to read the other books in the series. The ending of this book, leads you to want to find out more.

I loved the story line, the fact she could take off and find her true purpose in life.

Wishing this story end differently Love the way she tells the Irish stories

I picked this up in the Literature and Fiction section, expecting it to be literary. I wasn’t expecting the steam nor the swear words. I usually don’t rate books I didn’t finish, but by the 54% mark, I was also growing bored with the repetition. The whole, “you saw me naked” thing wasn’t amusing after the second or third time. I lost track of how many times it was brought up. The “he’s emotionally unavailable” worries, despite everting he’s done to prove otherwise, grew tiresome.

This book was refreshing because the characters were flawed, yet willing to change the trajectory of their lives … for the better. A good lesson with a bit of spice thrown in … what more could a reader want?

Happy to have read such a beautiful story. The characters are interesting and entertaining. It was a reminder that sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you planned.

Kept my interest with a few twists and turns

Delightful book. Complete characters, honest, lots of twists and turns. Well worth the read.

Compelling read that kept me turning the page.

Not my usual genre, but I fell in love with characters and the paths they’d each chosen. Author’s description of the Irish countryside almost made me feel as though I were there. Just finished book one and downloaded the next. Thank you, Juliet Gauvin.

Realistic fiction but romance was nicely done. Strong characters and interesting descriptions of Irish village and life.

This book kept me turning the pages just to discover more about the characters and the well-woven mysteries from both of their lives. Although neither one is healthy emotionally, their difficult paths and similar struggles help to strengthen their bond on their journey to healing. Their intellectual chemistry and attraction to each other is fun to witness through the wise cracking banter and the deeper moments of connection through confidences disclosed. This lovely book expresses the beauty and humor of Ireland while contrasting its cultures and traditions thru the eyes, curiosities and preconceptions of a strong and beautiful American woman seeking personal identity and contentment. This novel has more depth of character and colorful story-telling than most novels of its kind. Best of all, the characters’ stories continue in a series of two more books, further exploring whether their personal journeys will end blissfully together or on much different paths. I do recommend this book as it causes the reader to reflect on their own choices and life direction along the way.

Loved the first book and can’t wait to read the rest of the series! I hope her and Connor stay together! I really hope she finds her biological father! Elizabeth deserves every bit of happiness she can find and I hope she finds every bit of it! Oh and can this be made into a movie!

Great read! A breath of fresh air! Bravo

I’ve read over a hundred books being stuck inside for the last year thanks to Covid-19. This book is THE BEST book ever! I absolutely loved it, good romance good adventure and not too much smut. Keep going lady

I could not put this down! If you like romance, travel and suspense then this series is for you!

I decided to get back to reading recently, feeling like I was missing a good escape. I am so glad that I chose the Irish Cottage to start with. The authors descriptions had me feeling like I was there with Beth. I could imagine every detail, smell every smell and feel every single emotion depicted. It was everything I was looking for. I am purchasing the next book, The London Flat, right now! I’m fully pulling for Connor to come up with a way to get to Beth, (after allowing her the time to do some soul searching, because he’s a gentleman like that ☺️). Thank You for sharing your words!

When I first started this book I was immediately intrigued! It caught my attention and I couldn’t put it down until I was done, I needed to know what happened next! Now onto the next one in the series!

This was such a fun book to read. In a time where Covid makes it unsafe to travel, this book allowed me to travel in my mind. So descriptive, great character build. I'm not a big reader of romance, but it's fun and Juliet is a great writer. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series. Thank you for the entertainment!

You made me feel that I was right there in the story. I could see everything very clearly. I am looking forward to finishing this series, but I have to do it one a month. Ian now retired and money is very tight. So this series will be my once a month special treat. Thank you very much for this awesome book.

Juliet, I am so enamored by your writing! It is such a joy to read such a thoughtfully written book with so many experiences that play seamlessly into the story. I am so delighted, finally, to read a love story that doesn’t go for shock value through gratuitous sex and violence. I especially loved the surprise twist at the end! I’m not easily surprised, but this brought a big smile to my face. You are one of only two online authors that I find superior. I can’t wait to read your next book.

This book is beautiful in one word, I loved it, thank you for writing it !

The writing in this book was excellent! I really enjoyed the basic story. The writer did a great job relating and intertwining two story lines.

This was a A charming romance with non-cookie-cutter characters. I enjoyed the depth of the heroine and her relationship with her great aunt. Makes me want to go to Ireland.

It’s pretty good writing. I didn’t realize it was a romance series when I picked it up. Just not my cup of tea. Really.... not my cup of anything.

Some juicy romance in beautiful Ireland, but this story has more depth, more real ness than your average Romance, while still being a delicious piece of “Fantasyland.” Looking forward to reading the next book.

I enjoyed reading this book so much, I purchased the sequel. The scenery is described in a manner that you feel like you are there. Very well written book and understood the ending as I am a writer myself.

Being quarantined prompted me to shift from audio books to ebooks and this was a great selection. A nice escape to a country I have visited often, but through this book it was a different enjoyable experience. Moving onto London with Elizabeth!

Liked this a lot. Characters were fun to discover, love the setting and am looking forward to the next story. Hope this author writes more of the same!

Loved this book! Couldn’t put it down. Excited there are many more! :)

It has been such a pleasure to read. Once I started I couldn’t put it down. Never a dull moment. The love between the main characters is very refreshing. Look forward to reading the next books!!!!!

Positives: Beautiful descriptions of country side and special places. Loved the food descriptions and the colorful characters. Negatives: the sex was MUCH to graphic. It’s like watching porn, yuck. Didn’t any of the friends work? Seems all they did was drink and eat at the pubs. Where did they get the money? Didn’t any of them have kids? Sorry for the negatives.

What’s beautiful love story! I only gave it 4 stars because I do not love it when a story is unresolved. But I honestly couldn’t put it down! Onto the next book I guess ;)

Enjoyed the easy flow of the script.

The author has a very limited understanding of the Irish and of Irish culture. I don’t need to read lengthy descriptions of sexual encounters of which there are many in this book. It reminds me of those guys at school who used to boast about their sex “conquests”. Unnecessary use of foul language does not make a book better or any more authentic. I gave it one star because I could not give it zero. It was easily the worst drivel I have ever read.

I wasn’t able to put this book down! I really felt like I was in Ireland right along side Beth. So glad I get to go on this journey with her. Can’t wait to read book 2♥️

Very good read. An emotional storey that keeps you reading till the end. Wanting more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this light and easy read. Calling it light and easy is a compliment and not meant to denigrate the author in any way. We all need some escapism. I cared about the characters and found myself often smiling as I read the book. Life is too short to read bad books (or drink bad wine). I am continuing on with the series.

This was a book I would read at night before I went to sleep or during my spare periods as a supply teacher. It kept me entertained and enthralled and kept me coming back. Especially the last quarter of the book. Then the last This was a book that I would read at night before I went to sleep or at work during me spare periods as an occasional teacher. It was entertaining and kept me coming back. Especially the last quarter of the book. Then the last few chapters I couldn’t put it down. It has been a long while since I’ve read a book that I couldn’t stop reading. It is a delicious feeling. The characters are so well developed. The author Juliet Gauvin paints a beautiful picture of a place you’d live to be.

I didn’t finish the story, finding it unoriginal, predictable and repetitive in language, thought and theme.

Very entertaining, fast and easy reading

I wanted to read the book because it was set in Ireland and not somewhere in North America. I am not normally a romance novel fan (truthfully I didn’t realize it was a romance novel) but I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless! I mostly enjoyed the terrific countryside descriptions as well as the letter mysteries. So go ahead and read this if you want a fun ride!

I truly enjoyed getting to know the characters that Jules paints so vividly. Jules has a wonderful gift and shares it with her readers as she takes you with her through Lizzie’s journey. I’m looking forward to reading what happens next.

I can’t thank you enough for writing “The Irish Cottage “ I enjoyed it with anticipation from one day to the next I couldn’t wait to get back to it. It was well written and each stage was well placed.the London Flat should be equally as entertaining.

I just absolutely enjoyed this book . The author pulled me in on the tittle and the first sentence and I had a very hard time putting it down . It was a fantastic read and I was disappointed how it ended as I wanted to read more and enjoyed the teaser of 2nd book the London Flat , but wished it hadn’t of ended ; as with Covid 19 , I’m not working so I can’t afford to buy any books and was so thrilled when I saw the free ad for this book . I loved reading it very much and thank you for a very great read. You are a wonderful author . I love reading books set in Ireland , England , Scotland a and Whales . As my grand parents on my father side came from there after the war . Although I never got to ask them all about living there as they were much older when they had my father so I didn’t get that time with them when the passed. And on my mothers side they were their great grandparents coming from there . So I probably have relatives all over that I do not know of . And I’ve always dreamed of visiting if I ever came into money . When I was a young lass my Aunt used to visit cousins in Ireland , Scotland , whales & London and she use to bring me back some dried Heather . But she way much older than my father and she lived in Florida

I suffer from depression and the last book I read was in 2011. Not that I haven’t tried. About a year ago, I took a writing course. The course stressed using descriptors to bring the reader into the story. This book is a wonderful example of that. I really enjoyed the story and I thank you.

Very enjoyable read. Unexpected twists and makes one eager to read next in the series.

Loved this book and had to buy the rest in the series to find out what happens next. Was supposed to be in Ireland right now but was cancelled due to Covid. I miss travelling to Ireland and this book transports you right there. Looking forward to reading the next book

Funny and witty

A very well written story with characters that become real. A story that touches us all as we travel this life; sometimes in touch with our true selves but most often not. We search to find our own true selves and those events where we really feel at peace and connected; as we follow the adventures of Lizzie and Connor. Looking forward to books two and three!

This book is light and refreshing. It is a great read and it is easy to connect to the characters and get wished away on a journey to self reflection.

Transported me to a place I’ve always wanted to visit. Thank you for sharing your world with me. Loved the experience!

Love this look.won’t leave a long winded review because I want to get back to reading the next cottage book. This book is a delight to start on the weekend, the story keeps going.

This book made my heart smile.

Fabulous book. I really felt that I was in Ireland while reading it. Looking forward to Beth’s London adventure.

Would have given it a five star but I now have to keep reading (which I am happy to do), to find out what happens. Okay I’ve changed the four stars to a five stars because I am still reading this discovery story. Love this story and all the characters seem so real and crazy loving life addicts lol. Would have loved to have known a real life Mags!

I truly enjoyed reading The Irish Cottage. I too spent time on a life journey to find myself. Now I’m waiting to meet my Connor lol. I have trouble sleeping through the night so when that happened I read your book and always fell back to sleep when loving thoughts. That was so refreshing. Thanks again and I look forward to reading The London Flat. Blessings Connie

Loved the story, it feels like I took a trip to Ireland. Well written.

Excellent romance, adventure novel. I enjoyed the storyline of a strong and yet conflicted woman who learns how to deal with her childhood troubles and move forward in life in a positive way. I love the adventure, of travelling to a new country and emerging in a new environment and culture, meeting new people and making new friends. Well written.

I loved this book. It covered everything. Emotions! People were interesting, places exciting. Loved the Irish Sayings and personalities. It was exceptionally well written Now for the next. London flat ThanK you, Jeannie Johnston [email protected] Gmail.com

Yessss I love this book I will be buying the series thanks for offering it to us Good luck in your future writing rmk

I enjoyed reading this book and will continue to read the series. The characters were real and the writers excellent portrayal made you feel you knew them. I think we all lose a bit of ourselves along life’s journey and it is enthralling to think we can find those things we lost.

Colorful story. Every scene is pictured so clearly in my mind. The characters are real and quick friends

Excellent book I couldn’t put it down until it was finished. It brought back memories of some wonderful characters I met in Ireland last fall.

But a good read. I generally stay well clear of romance stories, they're just too much like fairy tales. But I enjoyed the Irish Cottage. Good characters, well paced, a little more humour injected into the story would be nice, maybe in another book about Beth.

Excellent book reflects the characters involved so well. Liz needs to stop being afraid

Loved the book! Well defined characters and like a mini Irish vacation!

A wonderful story of the healing power of love.

I could not put this book down! I found myself smiling often as I flipped through the pages. Absolutely loved it!

Lived the characters!

This was a great read. It was a wonderful way to wile away a summer day. Look forward to reading more from this author. Thanks again for the excellent entertainment. Bev Bidinoff

This is a well written story of lost love, finding oneself and the journey of love and life. This is a must read. I can't wait to read the second book in this series.

Written to make you question your own life choices and what be braving can mean in a partnership. I couldn't put it down. Love the quirkiness and raw emotion in the characters and the ode to Ireland.

The Irish Cottage had good character development and a good sense of adventure that brings in an audience.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. I usually read action and mystery books. This one may have touched the romantic in me.

I highly recommend this gem! After spending the last few years recovering from a debilitating illness, I have tried reading numerous titles but couldn't find anything to keep my interest until this book. I found the characters very relatable; the storyline captivating; and I found myself getting lost in the book forgetting about my own world for a while. I can't wait to read the next book in this series, and hopefully find more by this author!

The Irish Cottage is a totally captivating book that you will not want to put down! It is romantic, adventurous and suspenseful. The storyline is well thought out and the book is well written. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to be swept away! I absolutely loved this book and the writers knack for making the whole world disappear while I was reading. Well done!

Very much enjoyed this read! Wonderful detail and superb descriptions. I need to go to Ireland!

Great book! I loved it. Lina

Is kind of reminded me of a Eat Pray Love but with an Irish love affair and more to come... loved reading it and can't wait to read the next one.

I really enjoyed this novel. I am at the stage now when I like to read gentle books and don't need to be scared to death, I just want to be entertained. This story did just that, thank you. I shall certainly read other books by this author.

This was an enjoyable relaxing read, good for a summer day or even for a winter day if you have a nice fire to sit by. Although it wasn't hugely surprising as the story unfolded, it did have its colourful scenes. All in all it was a pleasant romance.

Was initially attracted to the Irish theme but even the Irish references couldn’t save this story for me. Tried to persist due to other reviews but I just couldn’t connect with any of the characters. Gave up halfway through. Too many other books out there to read.

Well! my first attempt at ipad reading books. Am so glad to find a story I just couldn't put away. Such smooth, palatable & interesting way of describing every detail, but not too much you want to skip a few pages. One pet hate is objectionable swear words in this otherwise beaut book. If you soak up every tiny detail about Stephen, there's no reason to describe women's anatomy so blatantly when he was attempting to shoot her. I knew instantly the creep he was portraying, yet there was a shattered person inside, suffering. Yet gave you five stars, and an avid follower now. Thank you.

It finished, when I wanted so much more. Fabulous easy reading.

What a terrific read! Gathers you in and keeps your interest. Can’t wait to read the next one!!

Brought me back to my youth again!

Great read, kept me up late at night , could not put it down, now onto the next book, can’t wait to see where there love story goes.

Really good read can’t wait to see what’s next for Beth & Connor

I thoroughly enjoyed this book I couldn’t put it down. I would read and I would say just another page oh just another page and time would fly. Thank you

Good lighthearted romantic novel with intrigue and twists ...good holiday reading..enjoyed it..

The story of Elizabeth, who felt lost and abandoned all her life only to find her life was a lie. Raised by a loving great aunt who told her the truth from the grave. A journey of self discovery, love, laughter, tears and adventure.

I loved every word in this book, how I would love to wonder around the world like Lizzie. Penny

The characters, while obviously privileged, have some complicated histories which gradually are revealed. How much further will they unravel? A lovely Irish setting.

fully entertaining

A great little book that is not only about the characters finding themselves again but giving the reader inspiration in finding yourself again. Her words make me want to go back to Europe and see the world!

Just finished reading the Irish cottage what a read absolutely enjoyed every word love Conner and Elizabeth’s story

Lovely story with fabulous characters. Wonderful humour, well written a great rainy day book. Can't wait to get into the next book!

This was truly a wonderful story to read, taking me on the journey with the characters like very few books do. The Author made me feel the highs and lows as if I was in the story myself. Can't wait to read the next book.

This book is perfect for a holiday read. Enough twists to keep things interesting. Definitely keen to read the other books in the series.

An oh so readable book! I enjoyed it from start to finish, and , of course, I'm now about to buy the London flat! The characters are so well thought out that you can see them, and having just returned from An Irish holiday, I loved the scene! Thanks for such a lovely way to while away cold winter evenings!

Lovely story, I really enjoyed it. One word of warning- it will make you want to buy the second book!

Made no sense

I have just finished reading this and am about to download the others, took me back to Ireland as loved it when I was there felt like home. Loved the story and wished I had it in me to write something this good, keep them coming Jules

Couldn't put this tale of self discovery, growth and love down. The characters - all of them - came to life right off the pages and I found myself reading their dialogue with an Irish lilt and wishing for my own Irish adventure!

What a wonderful story to fall into and in love with. I related to the character Beth, albeit I was never that lucky in IRELAND sorry to say. Every chapter held a part of my beautiful holidays to the most amazing countryside, Fungi the dolphin I visited even got a mention. Great story telling, couldn't put it down, now to start the other two books, London and Paris, I'm Sure they won't disappoint. Read it you won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed this Story and devoured it in a few rainy hours. Beautifully written about the Irish country and a fun story. Worth the read.

Such a great read. The storyline keeps you captivated and intrigued the entire time, with a few unexpected twists throughout. As an ambitious reader, I definitely wouldn't hesitate in recommending this brilliant novel - I may have already.

This is the first book I have read for a long time that I had trouble putting down!! Just wanted to get to the end to see what the last letter contained (brilliant twist) but didn't want the book to end either. Well done, highly recommend

This is one of those books you cannot put down once you've started. Loved the story line and the characters. Was sad when it ended. But looking forward to the London chapter !! Can definitely recommend , do yourself a favor

Really enjoyed reading this book. Only downside is there are about six more in the series.

I really enjoyed this book, a bit raunchy at times but a beautiful love story that left me smiling every time I picked it up and put it down. Look forward to reading more from the author

Loved the twists in the story , very enlightening about people’s relationships, a good read.

Brilliant read, couldn’t put it down! Looking forward to the next in series.

Really enjoyed this book. Well rounded characters and defo describes some of the lovely Irish spirit! Set in lovely Dingle so it also brought with it some precious memories of my own!

I literally couldn’t put this book down and read it over 2 nights. Loved it!! Can’t wait to see where the London flat takes us xx

A really good read can't wait to start the next

A lovely, well written tale of love, anguish and adventure.

Really good read, would like to read following book, the London flat but is quite dear and can't afford it

I really enjoyed this book. It was full of intrigue right to the end as well as having plenty of highs and lows and romance. I like a book I can't wait to turn the page to see what happened next. This book did that for me. Well done

If you want to read the sort of book that you would pick up in an airport to devour in a few days on holiday, that would entertain you but not ask you to think too hard about plot or characters, then this is a good one to choose. I read it quickly, on tea and lunch breaks at work, a few chapters in the evening at home, and I did enjoy it. However, great literature it is not - but then who wants to always read great literature ? One thing that annoys me though are number of 'typos' in this book, does no one ever proof read their work any more ? Phone instead of phobe, weary instead of wary, bare instead of bear, and those are only the ones I can think of immediately - such a shame to leave them in when they could have been easily fixed.

Really enjoyed the story . Kept you totally fixed and very hard to put down . Highly recommend this to anyone . Can't wait to start next book .

I loved this book. I anxiously awaited the next letter to see what it would reveal about Beth’s past. I am so excited to see what will happen next in her journey. This is a fabulous book that keeps your interest.

I truly enjoyed this book and what it had to say about people and their past. No one knows about another person unless it is shared. All of us need to be more gentle an kind to others and not be so quick to judge. It would make for a better world.

Great story line and character development. Looking forward to reading the next book.

This book is excellent. It’s moving and interesting and riveting all at the same time. Great characters and storyline.

This book was fantastic. I usually only read a handful of authors, but gave this one a try and she did not disappoint! Thank you!

Juliet Gauvin has written an amazing thought provoking story! I was immediately drawn into the journey. I cried, l laughed, I lived through this story right along with the well developed characters. It is a bit steamy but tasteful. I will be reading the rest of this series and highly recommend you enjoy it too!

When a lawyer quits her job to discover her roots, she meets a Prince Charming in a towel. They both suffer from loss of a loved one and find a way to heal with each other. A lovely story with sexy scenes.

Loved it. Wonderful, complex character development kept me guessing and loving Elizabeth and Conner and all their friends.

What drew me to this book was that the setting was in Ireland. It’s an easy read in that you are immediately drawn in by the character descriptions. I love the strong female protagonist but mostly I love where the book took me. I felt as though I were right there in this lovely little cottage and every other place and/or event the character visited. I purchased book two and look forward to that journey too!

Loved it! Having never traveled to Ireland, this book created a need in me to go there. The love story with all it’s poignancy and angst unfolded to make a great read and a hunger to know the rest of the story. I’m moving on to London in the next book!

What an awesome book!! I was sorry to finish it. Can’t wait to read the next one to see what happens. Thank you for such a well written story.

Wonderful read

I LOVE reading. Primarily books set somewhere in Europe, with an element of history thrown in. Because I don’t get a lot of time to read, it is PRECIOUS, delicious time when I do. So I am hesitant & skeptical when it comes to committing to a new read. It needs to be WORTH IT. I have a series of national best sellers behind me & was longing for my next treasured story, so the bar was high. I came across The Irish Cottage whilst browsing the free options. In all honesty, the cover design didn’t have me convinced, but what’s that old adage...? ;) I am SO glad I looked into it further & even more ecstatic that there are 2 more in the series! I was literally giddy to read this story & cannot wait to dive into the next. THANK YOU for sharing these exquisite stories with us!

This was truly a splendid book! It changed my life. To choose joy, feel alive,& love without worrying about the pain that might happen. Amazing author! The writing just flowed all the way from beginning to end! Highly recommend.

I totally loved this story! It was so exciting and heartwarming as each day helped the character find herself. Couldn't stop reading and realized I learned a lot about myself. It's like a guide to how we need to find our true selves. Can't wait to start the next book! Thanks for a true delightful read!!

Great story that had me hooked from the start. From the Irish countryside, the mystique of the aunt's letters to her relationship with Conner. Fast moving and charming!

This book is more than just a standard romance novel. It is a journey through a woman’s awakening to what her life should be. I actually found myself wishing there would be a book about Mags as she is such a full colorful character even deceased in this book! Looking forward to Beth’s adventures & continued discoveries in London!!

This trilogy was extremely enjoyable!! I would highly recommend it!!

Wonderfully written with just the right amount of teasing. The author has a good fix on the right time to “switch and bait” you. Looking forward to reading the others....

It’s been awhile since I’ve had a series capture me the way this one has. Just read book 1 and 2 today and know I’ll wish there was a book 4 when I’m done. Very well written.

Absolutely loved this series!! I couldn’t put it down, if I wasn’t working I was reading this! Fantastic character development, you come to love all the people Beth comes across in her journey and cheering for Beth and Connor’s romance.

I loved how this book takes you through the main character’s process of emotions and life’s journeys, with a sense of lighthearted freedom and true inner strengths. I don’t usually leave reviews , just stars without explanation, but I can honestly say “ I couldn’t put it down “ I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next....

This series was absolutely phenomenal, full of wonderful twists and turns and love and tears and most of all, the biggest reminder to live each day. Grateful for the author

I loved the storyline, twists, and romance. It made me step back and think about what makes me happy and who I am today. I can’t wait to keep reading the series to see what else Beth discovers about her life and about herself. I vicariously lived through Beth’s travels. Ireland is on my bucket list.

I loved how the author helped Connor and Beth help each other rise above their darkness. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series to see what will become of their relationship

Loved it! With one exception, that of the dinner party part with Connor’s friends was a bit over the top on using his wealth and hang up of his father.

I read all three of this series in less than a week! I was so disappointed to come to the end of the last one! You are a literary genius. Please keep on writing..Carol

A marvelous romantic story. I downloaded this as a free book and happily bought the next two in the series! The characters have lots of depth. I am mesmerized by Jules’s ability to tell a story. Nora Roberts was my favorite author for series reading in the past, but Juliet Gauvin is my new favorite.

It was a page turning book! Enjoyed it very much:)

I am a broken person right now, and haven’t been able to read anything enjoyable for some time. I recently lost my 28 year old daughter, following a 2 year battle with breast cancer. I’ve been given a bunch of self-help books about dealing with grief, but I haven't been able to bring myself to open one. I know I’ll just bawl, uncontrollably. I don’t really have a safe place or time to do that. So, the way I happened upon this book, was as a free download while I was visiting my son and his young family in another state. I took a book on the airplane, never opened it, and accidentally left it in the seat-back pocket. I lived in England for 3 years, where my daughter was born in the late 80s, so I enjoy stories set in the country in the UK. THIS one did not disappoint. I fell in love with the characters, and I cried with them in the dark if my return flight home. I felt like they helped me, in some small way, get in touch with my inner pain and that it is OK. I can’t tell you how healing (HOPEFULLY, eventually) this story has been for me. A nitpicker for details, I only detected maybe two writing errors (Erin form of a word, could be just typos), which is so refreshing!! I can’t wait to read book 2!!

A lovely read. I enjoyed touching life from the viewpoint of a grown woman but with flashes back to a younger time and glimpses ahead to the end of the road. What do our 'memories' really tell us? And what action (or inaction) might we someday regret? Thank you!

I’ve been reading this book on my way to and from work and I love it. It’s a good light read that keeps you wanting to come back. Highly recommend this! Especially if you enjoy romantic novels based in Ireland!

What I loved about this story was that while the main characters felt an almost immediate attraction, it didn’t take the entire book for them to act upon it. We were there for the entire ride. The author made it very easy to picture the settings. Also, she gave some nice places to visit if you ever get to Ireland. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next book!

Enjoyed this book. Did not want to put it down. Looking forward to reading the series.

I really enjoyed the Irish Cottage. The characters were interesting in their flawed and intense interactions. Connor and Beth’s story kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next in their relationship. The setting in Ireland was intriguing and the descriptions of the customs and towns enjoyable. If you want a fun and interesting read grab this book and enjoy the adventure, heartache and romance!

A good read. A book that I looked forward to come back to. A good story that left me wanting more.

Loved the book. The characters are real and have become dear friends. Can’t wait to read The London Flat to see if gorgeous Connor comes back.

I have enjoyed your book, I have had a lot of interesting things in my life. I didn't find out about it until my middle 70's. I hope to be able to buy your other book later. I am bedridden and I keep my income back in case I ever have to be in a nursing home. I hope to find out if I can have my back repaired next week. I have metal in my back and had to have a special test to find out if I was strong enough. I was married 57 years before my husband passed 12-05-14. A lot of stories from those years. Thanks for such a good story. Marjorie Leatherwood

A bit more racy than the Cozy Mysteries I'm used to.

I loved this book so much that I had to buy Book2 and Book 3. Fast paced and well written!!

Enchanting. Easy reading. Making one curious enough to read the following book.

Great read.

Perfect summer read

I really enjoyed this story. The only drawback was the descriptive sex scenes. Otherwise the characters were intriguing. I will definitely read the next book!

What a lovely book. I can picture that small town in Ireland, how beautifully you portrayed it. Elizabeth and Connor’s Love story was breathtaking, it made me feel like I was in my 20’s once again. Can’t wait for their continued story.

Loved this book & can’t wait to read the next. I had it finished in one day.

Great read. Not to long. Intriguing. Learned a lot about the area. She paints a great word picture.

I just finished this series and wow, every thing that I had written down like “hmm I wonder what he meant by that gesture” or “I wonder if she is going to come back to that later” she answered beautifully. The only thing that I assumed would come from this series is another series focusing on Audre’s love life. I thought Audre would end up with Killian. Will you make another series on them?

This book and the author is amazing. Not what I expected at all! A must read!
