Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith
Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith Book Summary
A disturbing package leads Detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott to investigate four dangerous murder suspects in this "magnetic" British mystery (Michiko Kakutani, New York Times) that inspired the acclaimed HBO Max series C.B. Strike. When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible -- and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men. But as more horrendous acts occur, time is running out for the two of them . . . Career of Evil is the third in J. K. Rowling's highly acclaimed series featuring private detective Cormoran Strike and his assistant Robin Ellacott. A fiendishly clever mystery with unexpected twists around every corner, Career of Evil is also a gripping story of a man and a woman at a crossroads in their personal and professional lives.

What a tale. I could not put this book down. I hope we get much more of Strike and his adventures.
Galbraith is a show-off (and I love it). Let me just focus on the author’s propensity to insert rarely used words into the story. Only he (she) can insinuate ‘budgerigar’ into the musings of Striker. Author has this enormous reservoir of vocabulary that she is just raring to share.
So great!. This is the best book in the series!
Skipped a half day of work to finish!. I'd give an arm and a leg to get the next one ASAP!
Captivating.. I love these books. These characters have stolen my heart. Each new book in the series I find myself more engrossed in Strike's world. I can't remember the last time I've been so intrigued and smitten with two fictional characters like I am with Cormoran and Robin. When's the next book coming out???
Very Professional. This book was very good for Bradito!
Career of Evil. Not up to the standard of character development as the first two in the series. Bizarre monsters have replaced quirky villains. Darkness descends on London/ Hogwarts again.
Preordered!!!. Hope it releases on 10/20....love this series...
I'm so glad JK Rowling didn't stop writing after Harry Potter. I loved the Harry Potter series, I loved the Casual Vacancy & I'm in love with the Cormoran Strike novels. Great writing, excellent plot, twists & turns that kept me guessing until the end! I'll be waiting with bated breath for the next one! The fact that Career of Evil ends on a cliffhanger!!! NOOOOOOOOO! I wish the next book were already written. If you haven't read any of the novels by Robert Galbraith, you're missing out! 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 stars! I'd give more if I could...
Ready for Book 4. I love this series! Can't wait for the next one!!!
Read all in this series. JK Rowling (or Robert) spins another set of amazing tales that transport you to a crime ridden Britain. A great read…start from the beginning with the Cuckoo’s Calling…you won’t be disappointed!!! I hope she continues the Cormoran Strike novel. P.S.— If you love cliff hanger endings, this is for you!
👍🏼👍🏼. I was so eager to get my hands on this book after finishing Galbriaths other 2 enrapturing mysteries, and I was every bit as pleased and more with Career of Evil. You're at the very forefront of a relentless killer and the enigmatic relationship between the crime solving protagonists.. trying desperately to pick up and place the clues laid out before you and hoping to solve this mystery before it unfolds, you never do and you sweetly suffer on your toes fascinated by this worthy page turner. 🙌🏼🙌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Galbraith "Strikes" again.. Love all the Cormoran Strike novels and can't wait for the next one. What a journey. What an ending!
Loved it!. Probably my favorite in this series!
Not quite Godfather 3, but. Not the best of the trilogy. The author tried too hard to make this hyper-suspenseful, but the end result is an overlong novel filled with several uninteresting backstories. The wedding drama, Strike's new relationship, and Detective Carver all chewed up pages but didn't give this third a balance to the reasonably compelling main plot. Stick with the first two Robert Galbraith novels.
Twisted Plot. Follow the spiraling, zigzagging & time warped investigation. Strike & Robin do not disappoint as we delve deeper into the essence of their personalities. Great read!
Great read. The best of the series!
Career of Evil. Another disappointing book from the woman who wrote the great Harry Potter series. This story dealt with a serial killer who committed gruesome crimes, yet the author failed to deal at all with his motive for doing so. The detective and his sidekick spent the entirety of the book chasing after three different suspects, but instead of meaningful action we are given irrelevant detail such as street names, restaurants, and a side story of attraction between the two major characters which was no more than a tease. And really, does the hero need to chain smoke in this enlightened time? I found the book to be very boring and the ending a huge disappointment. I had to force myself to plod through this seemingly endless tale. J.K. Rowling, where is the genius you displayed in the Potter series? Alas, I fear it has left you!
Career of Evil. Read all 3 Robert Galbraith twice. I'm hooked! Fun mysteries and vested in the characters, can't wait for a new cormoran adventure.
That missing something was filled. After reading the first two Cormoran Strike novels I felt something was missing and that’s why I gave them both a 3 star rating. At the beginning of Career of Evil which starts off from the antagonists point of view I felt this series was finally filling in the missing piece that would take it from average to great. As my rating indicates this is a great read
Lacked tension. Story was too confusing and the plot jumped around. Not very scary or suspenseful at all.
Best of the 3. I want the next one now please! AHHHHHHH!
Brilliant. Could not put it down. I loved every minute of this whodunnit! Sitting on pins and needles waiting for the next installment!
Wow. This had me turning the pages. By far the best in the series. Will have you guessing and playing detective while reading.
I can't.... Brilliant series; I just can't get enough of Cormoran and Robin. The mystery aspect of this series is absolutely brilliant. Despite the fact that the list of suspects had been narrowed down to three from the very beginning, it's incredibly difficult to pin down "who dunnit" until the very end. Small (/massive) gripe: we get to the absolute climax at the emotional heart of the story, and then THAT CLIFFHANGER ENDING?! I just... I cannot believe I have to wait until the next book to find out what happens next. You're a killer, but I adore you, R.G.!
Boring boring boring….. Slow story and just wasn’t interesting to me.
Soooo good!. Absolutely love the series, this is the best one yet. But the ending!!!! Ahhhh!!! It is going to be a long painful year+ waiting on the next book.
Best book ever.. This series is the best I have ever read. It is so wonderfully written. J.K has done it yet again. My only regret is that there isn't more to read.
Great read. Great read! I love this series!
Phenomenal. This was a wholly incredible book.
Absolutely wonderful. I couldn't recommend this more highly. Wonderful characters, a fascinating story -- I hope there are many, many more to come!
Amazing. Very few books warrant such praise from me, but this one does. Extremely well-written. It is, to use an overworked expression, very hard to put down. Three cheers, Madam!
Amazing!. I couldn't put this down. Hopefully there are more to come in this series!
Disappointing!. I loved her first two books in this series but this was awful. Had to push myself to finish it. The whole story was disjointed and didn't flow at all. The characters were not well developed. The story was boring and dragged on in so many places that I started to skip large portions just to get to the end.
NOT LISTED AS PART OF THE SERIES!. iTunes!! Why isn't this listed as part of The Cormoran Strike series?!?! It's not grouped with the other two and that's really annoying for a detail person like me.
Another masterpiece. This series just gets better and better.
Career of evil, fast paced thriller. Went from cuckoos calling, to silkworm and then career of evil back to back, couldn't put them down. Great trilogy, great characters
Hard to pay attention with this one. I was a disappointed with this one. It took me forever to get through, loved her other 3 books though
Wow!. I loved every word on every page.
Love them all!. I'm super happy with the whole series. I can't wait for the next one! Hopefully soon!!!
Fair. Took me 3 weeks (while reading 2 other books) to finish this book. Not nearly as good as the first two. Primarily because there is just too much extraneous and irrelevant information.
Career of Evil - tightly plotted...& a twist I never saw coming!. This series has been supremely satisfying to me, and CofE doesn't disappoint. It's a perfect balance of maze-like, yet logical plotting, and just enough personal insight into the characters to make the whole story very three-dimensional, which causes this reader to become very invested in both the action and the people involved. I've read so many murder mysteries/procedurals by so many authors that I usually can see a "hidden" clue or plot twist coming a mile away, but this book sprang one on me that I totally did NOT suspect! Brilliant!! And the end - one of the best cliffhangers I've come upon, possibly ever! I'll be grinding my teeth in frustrated anticipation till the first moment I can get my hands on the NEXT one. By the way, if you love reading series, you really should start w the first two books. This one can stand alone, but it's much better if you've read the others. Hurry up, Robert - I mean JK.
Could not put it down!!!. JK Rowling did not disappoint with this third book about Cormoran and Robin. I could not put it down and hope there will be a fourth book in the future.
Strike Three. Third in J.K. Rowlings' Cormoran Strike series. Drags a bit in the middle, but recovers with a satisfying ending. What's up with Robin?
Ese. I We Eweeeeeeee eeweeeeseerr Was ee is really er e the way I do when
There must be a fourth!. I read all three in the series, starting the next right as I finished the last. I'm going to have a lonely weekend now without Cormoran and Robin, and I'll miss Shankar as well. There must be a 4th!
Robert Galbraith Strikes again!. This is an outstanding read, start to finish! Can't wait for the next book, and to see where Cormoran and Robin's adventures lead them. J.K. Rowling has written another brilliant story in this line of murder mysteries. Highly recommend.
Brilliant!. Loved the first two and didn't think it was possible, but loved the third one even more!
Why can’t I quit you?. I seriously have a lot of other books on my list to read (and a life to live!), but I find myself chewing through these one after another even after I say to myself “OK, just one more....”. Characters, plot, pacing, and solution are fantastic. OK, well, on to the next with guilty pleasure
Brilliant. JK Rowling is a brilliant author. I'm amazed how cleverly she moves the plot while increasingly capturing and expanding more and more of the personalities of the main characters, Strike and Robin. If you haven't read her novels writing as Robert Galbraith you're in for a treat! The audiobook narrator does a great job.

Product placement. Very good thriller as one can expect from the author however the shameless product placement, especially cigarettes, takes away from the craftsmanship. Does she really need to do this? Albus would be sad.
Stopped at Page 82?. After Chapter 6 the text has just disappeared……! Not sure what to do !
Good detective novel. Rowling is a bit transparent in her ill formed analogy to transgender people.
Career of Evil. " I'd like your blue-eyed horseshoe, I'd like your green emerald horny toad, I'd like to do it to your daughter, on a dirt road " Such disappointment....... Upon reaching the end of this novel, knowing that you'll have to say goodbye. It's like saying goodbye to your best friend, that you know you won't soon be seeing for quite some time. I hate it when you finally reach the end of the story, realizing, this is the end. I've fallen in love with these characters and absolutely loved Career of Evil, as I did the other two, in the series. I feel like I know Cormoran Strike and Robin, as my personal friends. You shall be missed my friends. See you next time. I can't wait. " All our times have come Here, but now there gone Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind the sun or the rain " ( We can be like they are )

Career of Evil, by Galbraith.. She was brilliant as always so this book will go a number of people who are not brilliant and just needed our heroes to help us. Thank you Strike. et,al
Can’t wait!!!!. I love this series! I hope it’s as good as the last two books!
Career Evil. Counting down the days for the release, though i know I won't be able to sleep until I finish it .👍
I simply. CANNOT WAIT! I love this series and I'm counting down the days until its release!!!
